Nepenthes sibuyanensis x (veitchii x lowii) BE-4614 on the right, it's "sibling" BE-3986 on the left.

The pitchers on both of these seem highly variable. Going all the way from super neon pink, to deep rust red, and everything in between, among both of them. I'm wondering if their positioning on my little rack and varying sun exposure is influencing how the pitchers end up looking. That doesn't really seem to affect my other Nepenthes quite as much as these two.

Spring is almost here, so it's time to expand my collection of Sarracenia.

This is a Sarracenia psittacina var. okefenokeensis 'floating giant' Marion Co, GA from Mike Wang. One of two Sarracenia that I got from him this time around, though he also sent me 3 bonus Sarrs! Last pic is from him and should be representative of how this Sarr will look like all grown up.

I've always wanted a psittacina for my collection, particularly the "golfbalensis", but I think this one will still do nicely.

Unfortunately for me this Sarracenia has passed away. My other new Sarrs (and Darlingtonia) of the season are doing just fine, but this one seemed like it needed to be kept a lot moister than the others.

It had a die back after several days of no watering (which is the normal schedule I keep for the other Sarrs/Darlingtonia). It managed to survive that die back and started great regrowth for a few weeks, but this latest die back was unfortunately permanent. Rhizome is mushy now so there's no chance of recovery.

Considering how this psittacina can be literally found floating in water in its native environment, I'm probably going to consider doing a different set up for it the next time, if I choose to try this one again.

Nepenthes sibuyanensis x (veitchii x lowii) BE-4614, on top of its "sibling" BE-3986. Pics taken today and yesterday.

BE-4614 used to produce deep rust red pitchers that were a sharp contrast to BE-3986's very hot pink pitchers. But this newest pitcher has more of an interesting gradient between a very orangey lower half a rust reddish top half.

BE-4614 seems to have fully acclimated to its environment, while BE-3986 is still slowly getting back to its original size, pitchers wise.

Sarracenia purpurea ssp. venosa "White Ghost" that recently came from Crabcore Carnivores. Really fast shipping and super cheap.

I had a regular old plain jane purpurea in my old collection from over a decade ago, and for quite a while I wasn't actually a big fan of purpureas. But times have changed and I'm seeing a lot of crazy looking purpurea hybrids out there nowadays, and I'm a lot more interested in them now than I was in the past.

White Ghost as the name implies, supposedly has this extremely pale white coloration to it that makes it sensitive to being grown in full outdoor light, contrary to Sarracenias in general. Crabcore's apparently been growing his in full sun, which probably explains why this one is a lot pinker than your typical White Ghost. I've heard a lot of conflicting opinions on their sunlight tolerance, but for now I'm going to keep this one in similar conditions (full sun) and see how it fares.

Nepenthes ventricosa black peristome, lower pitcher.

This cutting has been producing very porcelain-like upper pitchers, but it now has a basal that's producing these very different looking lowers.

I posted about getting this freebie plant from Mike Wang a little over a month ago, and already it's given me a small but very well-formed pitcher.

This is a Nepenthes Edwardsiana BCP N2278-03 that I got from Alpenglow Exotic Plants back around December. I got a free Veitchii from them too! These are just various pics I've taken of it from Dec-Feb.

It's doing well! Slowly but surely developing larger leaves and pitchers.

Drop dead gorgeous, a ruby red peristome just like Dorothy Gale's slippers.

Nepenthes veitchii ‘intermediate’ BE-4087.

I haven't talked about Miss Plain Jane in a while, mostly because she always takes her sweet time producing new pitchers and the last few were unremarkable. This one follows a slight leaf jump.

That wonderfully plain and chartreuse peristome still contrasts nicely with all the other stripers in my collection.

Nepenthes veitchii [(Murud x Candy) -Best Clone x "Cobra"], CAR-0207.

This one continues to grow very vigorously and this latest pitcher, which has been open for a few days, is exhibiting intense striping! Also very tubby.

Unlike my other striped Veitchiis, the peristome on this one doesn't darken as the pitcher ages. The striping starts to fade ever so slightly, contributing to that candy cane like look.

A middle-aged pitcher. The next leaf had a little accident which tore off the baby pitcher, so I'm currently eagerly awaiting the next (larger) leaf to deliver me an even bigger pitcher than this one.

Now this was the one I actually paid Mike Wang for, along with the psittacina. Last pic is from him and what it should look like all grown up.

This is a recent division so it's absolutely tiny and so vulnerable looking. 🥹 Hoping it settles in nicely for the year. Mike also sent me a more generic but much larger flava rugelli as yet another bonus that I'll also share real soon, and I think it's supposed to tide me over until this one really grows up. ⏳

Here's another bonus plant that I got from Mike Wang. Last pic is from him and should be representative of how it'll look all grown up.

This one seems to have lots of little growth points all over the rhizome already and has an extensive root system that I didn't quite capture. Unfortunately, I ran out of larger pots, so it's going to have to make do in this pot for at least a year. I think it'll manage just fine.

Jonesii's never been a Sarr that's been on my radar, so I'm definitely interested to see what the future holds for this one.
