Living in Chicago Is Both a Blessing and a Curse
For the last few years, Robert Levinson has lived in Chicago. You might imagine that being a student would afford you all the time you need to acclimate to a city. While it’s mostly true you can get comfortable anywhere so long as you’ve lived there for enough time, you might not realize how much a city can change you.
Today, he has gotten his Chicago life down to a science. This routine is not something he’s keen on giving up. These are how Robert Levinson spends his good days and bad days in the Windy City.
When life goes according to plan, he likes checking out new restaurants. Living in a big city affords you plenty of opportunity to try new things. Whether it’s a dish he’s never tried before or just a new topping in a deep-dish pizza, he can’t have too many options. Fortunately, this variety isn’t exclusive to food. A big city can offer even more variety when it comes to entertainment.
The comedy scene in Chicago is renowned. Many comedians have found their start here. Of course, there’s also a big sport scene and some bars that offer an amazing music scene. Simply put, living in Chicago is great for any young person, which is why Robert Levinson loves living here.
Though it’s a lot less fun, getting down to business is important too. Taking classes and working on school projects take up most of Robert’s time during the week. Outside of the classroom, he studies at the school library. There are plenty of places to study elsewhere too, like coffee shops or one of Chicago’s many public libraries.
Living in the city isn’t cheap. Robert works as a social media manager for a small accounting firm based out of the Greater Chicago area. It’s pays well, but it also requires that he has access to his phone for nearly 24 hours a day. Fortunately, when things go according to plan, the nature of his job and being a student means that he has freedom to work where he wants to, whether that be at home or at the library.
Things don’t always go according to plan. Snow might seem beautiful at first, but it gets old very fast. This has never been truer than in the city of Chicago, where it sometimes feels like the Winter might drag on and skip Summer entirely. There is nothing quite as frustrating as shoveling out your car twice in a day just so you can get groceries.
At the end of the day, Robert Levinson does what most Chicagoan students do when they’re not studying or shoveling snow. He hangs out with his friends, watches baseball, and binges on a good deep-dish pizza.
