Moral Values in "Sinigang," a short fiction
The short fiction Sinigang, written by Marby Villaceran in 2001, narrates the story of Liza, the main character, dealing with issues of her father's extramarital affair with Sylvia, that ended in the birth of a son, Lem.
Life is sour in general, just like sinigang, but because of the various ingredients that make up the dish, it tastes delightfully unique.
Our life really aren't easy, but then when you examine all that is going on in our lives, there are definitely many challenges, yet every new experience we get improves our lives.
Sinigang demonstrates how we should handle our lives. It may be sour as a product of all the bad experiences, family problems, and so on, but these challenges are what make our society interesting in the first instance.
The first lesson I learned from the narrative "Sinigang" is that everyone makes bad decisions because we are all imperfect, but that isn't an excuse because we have the choice of refusing to make mistakes. Mistakes make a person a much better person because they learn a lot from there.
A story's moral is the lesson that teaches about how to behave in the actual world. A story's moral is meant to teach you how to be a better person. When moral is used as an adjective, it relates to something which is good or ethical.
You are a good member of society if you have a strong moral character. It will also educate every reader the value of having a strong foundation between family members, respecting, being strong, apologizing, and forgiving, especially to Filipino families who are suffering through the same problems as the tale.
There are a lot of lessons if you read the short story. But as a 21st-century learner, I can apply it to my everyday life by trusting one another and good communication is the best instrument to maintain a good connection between family members. Because family can't be exchanged, and they are the ones who will support you. And they can give you the most powerful weapon, unconditional love.
