funniest thing with flight rising is that they've had plans for the past decade to eventually turn it into some sort of video game that they've never shown dev work on or even really explained and basically every major plot thread on the website is intended to be resolved "when the video game is finished"

this is honestly one of my biggest issues with the website (though it sounds a bit whiny to say); it's kind of in a vicious circle of the fanbase getting up in arms about anything that could be perceived as offensive or upsetting and being weirdly aggressive towards the devs over it, and the devs in turn, scrubbing the website of anything considered untoward and skewing further and further towards very cutesy and "safe" lore additions with disclaimers to avoid any misinterpretations. Not just talking about understandably contentious stuff either, there's so much upset around very mild content, especially any "horror"... these two skins that were rejected for being too violent for the site's 13+ rating jump to mind:

I don't think "adventure mode" would have been anything too good to begin with, but if it comes out now, I'm just not going to be super interested in slogging through a so so-at-best visual novel when i know the writers now have such a penchant for avoiding anything theoretically uncomfortable and have even erased and rewritten things before (this game doesn't even exist and my head is already hurting thinking about playing it twice because they decided to redo a chapter for poor implications, valid criticism or no...)

#like its one thing to accept criticism on things like the thrage drama or the deer skull head familiar#which have actual real life impact and like. just censoring anything that makes somebody mildly uncomfortable#like the spurs on the battle chickens cannot believe I forgot about them removing the spurs on the chickens to avoid cockfighting comparisons... what's weird is that you could easily pass off the original as just cool armor for a chicken, whereas the leg cuffs that replaced them immediately evoke the leashes cockfighting roosters wear and basically nothing else

Can people show me their Crackle dragons. I need inspiration. I have faith in this gene I know it can work (I have one myself here)

I have two dragons with this gene but they both wear quite a bit of clothing so I will send both with and without apparel. First dragon is Kazamir. He is Blackberry Metallic, Wisteria Alloy, and Shadow crackle. The second dragon is Silan, he is Blood Speckle, Rust Freckle, and Gold Crackle.

I think crackle can work really well, but typically only with genes that aren't heavily patterned. I think it works well with primary and secondary genes like: Basic, Freckle, Speckle, Alloy, Metallic, Irridescent, Shimmer. These genes are not as complicated as some of the other genes, so they lend themselves well to Crackle, which in of itself is a very complicated pattern. Laying it on top of things like flaunt/flair or harlequin/jester really complicates the design and makes the dragon really hard to look at These are of course, not hard fast rules and i am sure there is a dragon out there that really makes those combos work, but I try to stick to simple, uniform primary and secondary genes when looking to pair it with crackle.

by the way this isn't me saying that any critique against the anatomy of a fictional creature is inherently dumb, I'm just bitching about people who criticize designs that have the "wrong" number of limbs/are fat/use features they don't consider reptilian (like feathers or hooves)/etc. for being scientifically/mythologically inaccurate and not "looking like a dragon" when their platonic ideal of an accurate reptilian dragony dragon without fail looks like this
