Good example of modernizing vintage inspiration. Branding project
In their music issue, I loved how QG continued the distorted type all throughout the magazine to maintain cohesion
I love GQ style for their standard modular style where they place type in box grids and have photographic elements weave in and out of the boxes and type.
Love the variety in this poster. Despite what WOULD be a chaotic design, the simplistic nature of the poster and the type setting still evokes a sophisticated feel.
I love the use of illustrative type here. It is beautifully rendered and reminds of an art deco style. Overall just a really cool typeface with gradients
Really cool expressive type where the letters are personified to be drowning as imagey for the poster made dor a program intended to "save music"
More fun illsutrated headline type!
If this isn't one the coolest magazine covers... Love the staggering and chaotic organization to imply a robbedy scene. It's so fun and different for Bloomberh Business
Use of repeated and fragmented type affs visual interest
Another interesting application of type. This time grid lines are visible, and there is a combo of a technological ALL CAPS type with this neutral medium helvetica. I like the sideways application of headline to strenthen the concept behind rhe use of oives
Interesting multiple spreads editorial where the designer uses headlinetype leaving the page and continuing onto the next to imply the kinetic movement. Also an interesting choice to use a serif to do this, i would think maybe a sans serif italicized but i think overall this is cool too. color is fun and use of blurbs in between the body copy to break up text and further creatve visual interest is cool
Interesting headline typeface
Love this use of expressive type because it mimics the achritectural structure of the guggenheim by simply placing the type on a circle
Another fun application of type design onto an editorial.
Creates visual interest by placing letters in different lines and in different sizes
I LOVE!!!!! This poster!! It uses one of my current obsessions in typography, which is putting letters in perspective and in 3D creating space within the flat surface of the poster. I especially love this application because here they place these space defining letters in context-- as if they were floors on the MOMA. Really cool concept, well executed and thorough
Attention grabbing headline for this controversial editorial. There is also a lot of variation within the subhead that places on emphasis on specific things. I also think the placement right at the margin is interesting. The other subheadline with the copy where there is one letter that us lower case in each word is also pretty interesting. I thought it was meant to mimic a letter being gaveled?
