As an artist who more or less specializes in Cute Stuff, I wanted to see if I could draw book!Blinky and Arrrggh in a way that makes them slightly less horrifying while still remaining true to their original descriptions.

Blinky is described as having olive-green reptilian skin, eight practically-blind red eyes each perched on their own independently-moving stalk, and a multitude of slimy tentacles for limbs. Oh and he also wears a kilt covered in old medals and awards, so…there’s that

Arrrgggh is described as a vaguely gorilla-esque behemoth covered in thick black fur with huge curled ram horns, an animalistic snout, strong clawed hands/“paws”, orange eyes, and a slobbery purple mouth crammed with an assortment of sharp teeth. She (yeah btw book!Arrrggh is female, for anyone who didn’t already know) also has a boulder lodged into the back of her skull, courtesy of Gunmar. And also later acquires makeshift “braces” from Toby cuz she wanted to match him which is kinda adorable ngl

I have adopted Jim when he got asked about his mom and went “she’s just really tired, Mr. Strickler :(((((” in that adorable, worried, caring tone, and yes it was only 5 minutes after his introduction, but that’s just how good of a boy he is

RIGHT at first I was like “eh, I expected more than a basic chosen one story from Guillermo del Toro” but then it dazzled so bright I marathoned it, and than re-marathoned it again bc I just couldn’t get enough. Jim is peak son material and everyone else is just as good
