His chest hurt. He had searched all over the Tulpar. He checked the sleeping quarters , not there. The main lobby , nope. Medical , utility , the winding hallways .. where could he be ?

Curly knew where. He knew exactly where. He was stalling ,, as much as he'd like to deny it ,, he was .. dreading this conversation. Would it even be taken well ? Knowing Jimmy , no. He's unsure if anything good will come out of this. But .. he's the captain. He can't leave this matter untouched , not when it's so serious. It's been on his mind ever since everything went down , ever since he taped the heart back together , ever since he woke up from his barely two hour fucking sleep after staring at the ceiling all night long. Curly slid open the door to the cockpit.

He was dreading this.

[Jimmy was wide awake, he had only slept about three hours in the cockpit, in Curly's chair. He looked up, his eyes sunken in and bloodshot, his hands in his hair. His stomach dropped to his fuckin feet when he looked up, he didn't know what to even say. He was still angry, brow furrowed immediately] What do you want?

Curly stood at the doorway , staring at Jimmy's disheveled state with concern. Guilt. Guilt. The sight only made him feel worse. Fuck.

Slowly , hesitantly really , he stepped into the cockpit , letting the door automatically shut behind him. He was quiet , too quiet. But why did speaking suddenly feel so impossible ?

"I .. think we should talk about yesterday."

Simple and forward. Yet it felt like it took everything in him to say it.

[He rolled his eyes, scoffing. God he hated him. But he...he was obsessed. He needed to talk about this. He was visibly antsy.] "Fine. Talk."

Alright .. Curly glanced around ,, then took seat in the co-pilot's chair. He crossed his right leg over the other as his foot tapped against the floor repeatedly.

"So .. uh , Jim. I know emotions were .. tense , yesterday .." He started , gazing at Jimmy with a somewhat wary look.

[He sighed and nodded, running his hand through his hair as he failed to calm down] "Get to it, Curl."

".. Okay."

Curly rubbed at one of his arms as he took in a breath , his gaze drifting momentarily .. but he quickly dragged it back up towards Jim.

"I'm .. sorry. I'm really sorry. I didn't- I hadn't been expecting the .. y'know , kiss .. es. Kisses."

[He was shaking somewhat, clenching his hand on his arm rest] "You...did you even like em? Do- do you even like me?"

He paused at that. He .. knew his answer. He had actually thought about it maybe a thousand times last night. What had his feelings been ? What had it made him feel ? Like shit. Seeing Jimmy stomp off had made him feel awful. But the kisses ? Jim ? He .. it had been sudden. Sure they've done some light flirting before ,, but last night had him really thinking about his overall feelings. And yet , he still wasn't sure where he stood with Jimmy.

"I ... did. I just didn't know how to react. I'm sorry for .. if it felt like a rejection or something similar. It wasn't."

[He relaxed only a little at Curly's admittance, his brow still furrowed] "Then why didn't you say that, Curl."

"Everything had happened so fast," He quickly defended himself. "I didn't .. know what to say .. and I'm sorry about that." He felt horribly guilty .. maybe a little indignant too but he was not going to mention that. He knows he should of followed after Jimmy yesterday when everything went down and tried to calm him ,, but he just couldn't at the time. And now he just felt shitty.

[He frowns and runs a hand through his hair, scoffing] "So what now Curl? You gonna run away again, leave me to face this on my own like ya always do?"

"What ?" Curly frowned as he started reaching a hand out towards Jimmy , but stopped about halfway , cautious still.

"No. I'm not going to do any of that. I want .. I want to talk about it. About .." He hesitated , "Our .. y'know .. what is this ? What are .. we ?" He felt weirdly anxious. He never really .. bothered thinking about relationships. Not in awhile at least. And having to ask this to his best friend of decades ? A whole other thing.

[His furrowed brow finally relaxes, the blank look on his face faltering a little at the question] "What are we, fuckin middle schoolers? I dunno Curl. All I know is I don't want you...talkin to no one else. Bein this close to...other crewmates or somethin'." [This wasn't new to him. He'd had this conversation in his head a dozen times. For years. Though of course he wouldn't mention that to Curly. He couldn't.]

Curly winced slightly at the middle schooler comment , glancing away as he listened to Jimmy speak.

"That .." The words died in his throat as he struggled to come up with a response. It should be easy. He wasn't close like that with the other members of his crew anyway ,, his response should be simple. But ultimately he doesn't even know what to say. He hates this .. in a way.

[He sighs, his face finally softening. He presses his hand to Curly's, squeezing it softly] "I get it Curl. I-I just guess I want to know you ain't gonna...change on me. Ain't gonna leave me for somethin...better"

Curly's gaze quickly locked onto their touching hands ,, just taking a moment to stare. He then looked back up at Jimmy and let out a short sigh.

"I wouldn't do that , Jim. Why would I ?" His own hand gently squeezed in return to comfort him.

[He slides his thumb across Curly's hand, bringing it to his mouth to kiss it] "Good. We okay, Curl?"

The captain stiffened in surprise at the peck , his words getting lodged in his throat again. Why the hell was he acting like this ? ... He wasn't used to this , that's why.

If he had to answer him honestly .. no. He didn't feel like they were good at all. There was so much unspoken , so much that still needed to be discussed .. but Curly only gave a nod.

".. We're okay. You're feeling better now at least , right ?"

[He nods, pressing a longer kiss to Curly's wrist and then his palm] "Much better, doll. I got you. You're mine. That's all that matters."

Curly felt his heart thumping. He wasn't sure if it was because he was flustered .. or maybe he was just uncomfortable. He couldn't tell the difference right now , and he couldn't bring himself to pull his hand away either. Who knows what reaction that'd get him ?

"Heh .. does that mean we're .. a thing now ?"

It was obvious something just started ,, but he needed words. A clear confirmation of something. Not just .. mine. But he was also nervous to hear Jimmy's answer.

[He slid his hand to the back of Curly's head, pressing his forehead to Curly's, his fingers sliding through his hair and against his scalp.] "Yeah doll, you're mine. Like I said"

Well that didn't help him much , but he supposed actions do speak louder than words .. most of the time.

Curly felt like he was sinking in a way ,, but he couldn't move away either. Did he even want to ? Hell if he knew. His mind was just racing right now as he stared back into Jimmy's eyes , the eye contact making him squirm. Maybe he was a bit uncomfortable .. but he couldn't pull away. He wouldn't.

[He presses a kiss to Curly's neck, breathing down it a bit hard] "You're perfect, Curl. Perfect n' mine"

Maybe he should be flattered , but the way Jimmy spoke and the kiss sent a rather unpleasant shiver down his spine. And yet ..

Curly suddenly hugged Jimmy. Not tightly ,, but a comfortable , loose enough embrace that didn't feel trapping. It seeked comfort instead. He didn't really know what to say .. but maybe he was right. Actions did speak louder than any words he could say right now. Mainly because he didn't have any.

[He squeezed Curly once, his hand at Curly's lower back as his nose was pressed to his neck. He closed his eyes, feeling calm for once in his life at the expense of Curly, as always. He was surprisingly gentle, though, his fingers sliding through Curly's locks] "I love you Curl."

His breathing paused momentarily upon hearing that. He hasn't heard those words in that context for so long .. and to hear it from Jimmy felt .. odd. The captain then let out a short hum and hugged his friend- no .. his .. his partner ? That feels more .. appropriate now.

He hugged his partner firmer , his eyes also shutting as he relaxed against the hand in his hair. ".. Love you too , Jim."

[He pressed soft affectionate kisses under Curly's ear and down his neck, his hand rubbing Curly's back softly] "Say it again, Curl. Please."

He hesitated .. but did what he was asked.

"I love you Jim." He repeated , nuzzling into Jimmy's shoulder. He didn't even want to see how his face must've looked right now. Probably pretty red. Another sigh escaped him as he just tried enjoying the embrace.

[He kissed the top of Curly's head, rubbing his back again] "You're mine Curl. I have you. You're mine." [He says that as if he'd....accomplished something...like he'd been waiting for this.]

God ,, this was .. It was strange suddenly being on these terms with the guy he's been best friends with since elementary. He's known Jim practically his whole life .. and .. It was just odd. But he couldn't say he wasn't enjoying this in some way. While he was still trying to wrap his head around it all , the hug and Jimmy by extension felt like something stable and admittedly comforting to hold onto while he processed everything.

"You sure sound pleased," He mused.

[He wanted to do nothing more than to just aggressively kiss Curly, but somehow he managed to control the burn that made his fingers twitch and his muscles tense. He pressed another soft kiss to Curly's neck, his hand still rubbing Curly's back] "Course I'm pleased, I got you Curl. What, you ain't?" [He teased, raising a brow as he pulled back to look at Curly]

"No no , I'm .." He thought about it. "Pretty happy too. Just .. you know I haven't been in a relationship in years. I think over a decade , actually. It's .." Strange. Weird. New. Almost exciting in a way ..

"It's interesting." He slowly and gently pulled away from the hug.

[He frowned, not liking that Curly pulled away]

"Me neither, mostly flings here n there. It's...nice."

[He paused a moment before blurting out]

"Sleep with me tonight. Not, um not like that. Of course. 'Less you want- nevermind. Just. Go uh...to bed with me? That ain't better..."

He hadn't expected that. Well maybe he should of , this was Jimmy after all .. It's not like this is a new thing between them either. He definitely has slept in the same bed with Jimmy a few times throughout his life , especially on those endless nights of studying ..
