You know, I can’t help but marvel at the fact that Sans, who is constantly portrayed as being lazy and not caring about many things (including his jobs), shows ACTIVE INTEREST in Toriel’s likes and interests.

I mean, we have a skeleton monster who is probably depressed and struggling day to day with the knowledge that everything could reset and disappear in an instant, suddenly showing interest in having a sock collection, buying snail pasta, even baking pies, when according to Papyrus, he always goes out to eat.

I just can’t get over what a positive and uplifting effect Toriel and Sans have on each other. He gets her to laugh after who knows how long of her living in despair in the Ruins, lonely and alone for the most part. And she even writes skeleton jokes and other puns in her diary to share with him. And on the flip side, she incites him into actively pursuing her interests—or perhaps their now shared ones.

How freaking incredible is that?

This is, by far, the strangest thing I’ve ever drawn. But it was so fun! I hope it makes you smile as much as it made me. I encourage you to watch this before watching the one I made for some context.

Video is based off of “Friends”. Honestly, this is one of my favorite moments in the show, and I thought this was fitting for Sans and Toriel.
