Illusion Equipment
This is the Equipment I'm using for the illusion tasks
Illusion Task When the light has Cone
Blending Modes
What happens when you use a blending mode?
When you use a blending mode takes pixels from your different layers in photoshop and blends them together to create different effects. There are 27 layer blending modes altogether each under one of the six blending mode sections
Blending Mode Sections
- Normal
- Darken
- Lighten
- Contrast
- Component
- Inversion
Normal
Nothing happens with the normal blending modes unless you reduce the opacity to reveal the image below
Darken - Multiply
Darker areas in your image will become deeper than originally.
Lighten - Screen
lighten will do the opposite to your image that darken will provide, making your end result brighter.
Contrast - Soft Light
this blend is a variety of darken and lighten blends
Inversion - Exclusion
Component - Colour
this blending mode uses different components of the primary colours. its also the most simple blending mode. this mode will only effect the option you chose, whether it be Hue, saturation, colour or luminance
Environmental
Task Environmental portrait.
This task is to tell a story through images of someone at work. This is Darren my brother inlaw who in his part time offers a wash and valet to the ppl in the street where he lives, for a minimal fee Based in glasgow Stepps.
With these Pictures i have tried to show all the aspects of what hes doing from washing the car to the product he using. this time he was only doing a wash.
Seeing the Light. Composition.
In these pictures i tried to take 5 different Composition pictures from inside and outside light with also from a distance but always trying to keep the light sharp and on my subjects as much as i could. it was difficult at times as inside there clearly is no sun and when outside it would keep coming in and out of clouds lol well it is Scotland/Glasgow after all.
I tried to keep Ross as much in the light as i could but fundamentally keeping in mind the difference’s in the 5 pictures taken to try show as much range as i could in taken each picture and showing as much skill as i could to keep them always in the light and clear.
Evaluate, strengths & weaknesses, techniques & quality of light
We had a fairly dull day for these pictures with some colds the quality of light kept the Picture fairly sharp but little dull but still clear.
Strength was the light was there for each shot. with no rain cloud to darken
Technique was keeping the light in the face as much as i could on the person and adjusting my setting according to the on them.
Weakness working with the Differnt light from inside to outside and clouds for natural light and trying to keep the light in shot.
Evaluate - I think my shots came out ok could have done with a far brighter day for shooting.
Seeing the Light. Different Apature's
I tried to keep my Models as much in the light as i could but fundamentally keeping in mind the difference’s in the 4 pictures taken to try show as much range as i could in taken each picture and showing as much skill as i could to keep them always in the light. with as much catch light as i could find

Seeing the Light. Viewpoints
In these pictures i tried to take 4 different pictures from His Face up to also from a distance but always trying to keep the catch light on my subjects as much as i could. it was difficult at times as the sun would keep coming in and out of clouds lol well it is Scotland after all.

Reflector demonstration.
This task entails taking a series of images using different light modification devices.
For this part of the of the shoot of which i did a couple of different tests with different People.
I had forgotten my reflector on this day so i decided to make my own from hard Card Paper and Tinfoil that i got from farmfoods on the way to my mates shop.
as i shows you can forget something and still improvise.
This Picture is demonstrating the way we used the reflector outside my mates shop for the catch light.
This is the Oicture from the image to show the light in the eyes from the reflector.
We decided to take one with out the reflector as the natural light was coming through at this point so tried to get one with the light in his face
with this one we moved in side the shop and took a few with deferent light from led lights bouncing from the reflector
Evaluate, strengths & weaknesses, techniques & quality of light
We had a fairly dull day for these pictures with some colds the lack of quality light for the Pictures as sharp as i could get them with limited light. strength was the light was easy to monover for each person once we got a light source . technique was keeping the light from focused in one area for the person and adjusting my setting according to keep it on them. weakness working with the shades and clouds for natural light as it wasn't abundant on the day.
Jim Train Test
Todays class was a much needed refresh of selection tools with in Photoshop. I It was good to get back doing this stuff as i did it in a night class couple of years ago to get into college. themasking and blending techniques I found some of it didnt come back as fast as i remembered
I took an image from the clean white and replacing the background. with a image to try blend it seamlessly with each other some more practise clearly needed. but still fun tho
II have added the screenshot to show what i was trying to do.

Top 5 Creative Manipulations 25.01.2021
1. Kylli Sparre
https://sparrek.org/about
Kylli Sparre is a visual artist based in Tallinn, Estonia.
In her work, Sparre desires to look beneath the surface, hear the unsaid words and study the relationships between people and their surroundings. Her background in dance is often influencing her images: the movements and the carefully observed bodies play a big part in her work. The artist tells you a story where subject and surrounding can become one. It thereby almost transforms into a dance. Although her work can be theatrical, there is always an utter sense of peace emerging from it. Whether the images are surreal, dreamlike or symbolic, they come from her thoughts, observations and experiences.
Sparre’s work is internationally praised and she was rewarded with the Sony World Photography Award 2014.
2. Julien Tabet
https://www.julientabet.com
Julien Tabet is a young French digital creator, born in 1997 in Rennes.
He studied Graphic Design and Webdesign there, before starting as a full-time freelance designer at the age of 22.
In 2017, he started sharing his work on Instagram in parallel with his studies. Thanks to his surreal images, he quickly built a community on the platform.
His specialty is to relook animals by re-interpreting the laws of Nature, in order to share a world different from the one we know. His images are made of fantasy, fun, poetry, and seem to have no limits.
Inspired by the artists of the surrealist movement such as Salvador Dali or René Magritte, he focuses on the subjects he deals with to bring out the best in them with his own interpretation. According to him, animals are incredibly interesting because of their innocence and anonymity. No one can prove that the animals he depicts don't exist.
His work is 100% digital. He creates using Photoshop, combining photography and illustration. He always pays attention to detail, on the border between realism and fantasy.

5. Bára Prášilová
https://www.baraprasilova.com/about
Bara’s surreal images balance on the edge of beauty and weirdness, in between real and fictional set ups, originating from her sense of absurd humour and affinity for lightness that helps her to cope with serious topics. Instead of manipulating images digitally in post production as to render a magical ambience, Bara works with real props and objects, which lend her subjects a rare authenticity. She meticulously plans all of her shoots in advance, and her detailed sketches, custom-made props and costumes are usually part of her exhibitions.
Including a Hasselblad Masters Award in 2014, Bara has been a recipient of numerous awards, such as the winner of the Photographer of the Year 2009 and 2011 by Czech Grand Design and her first director’s feat has been awarded bronze by prestigious Clio Awards in 2019. Equally many commercial assignments have been requested by clients, such as Vitra, Ikea, The Czech National Theatre and the Newsweek magazine.
Recently, she has branched out into the world of moving images, creating videos based on her stills, which has created another outlet for her to build a new reality.
