Hello friends! Last Bandcamp Friday back in December we released our second full-length album "A Murder of..."! Greetings friends! In honor of Bandcamp Friday, my band Crowey’s newest full-length record “A Murder of…” is officially pre-released and available for streaming and download until 11:59 pm today (Friday). We hope that you can take solace in the gentle layered textures of this record that although was written pre-covid, deals largely with the theme of death and rebirth, as well as being faced with one’s own mortality. It is a fitting theme for these times, certainly. (link in bio) This is a very special record not only because of its deeply personal importance to me, but because it is the first album featuring the extremely talented Kate Kilbourne @katekilbourne whose contributions have elevated this music beyond my wildest dreams. I am endlessly grateful for the collaboration we’ve developed over the last two years. We were also joined by a few of our very talented friends in the making of this record, namely Andrew Jones @thecrenshaw Sage Fisher @dolphinmidwives Lizzy Rose Allen @queenelixabeth TJ Thompson, and Sean Barry. Greetings friends! On Friday, December 4th my band Crowey will be pre-releasing our second full length album “A Murder of…” for a 24 hour period on bandcamp for their once a month revenue share waiver (Bandcamp Friday). On that day from 12 to 12 you will be able to listen to the album in its entirety for free or download it for purchase in a “name your price” type scenario. This album has been in the cans for a few months now, and we have been scratching our heads on how to release it. While we so badly want it to come out on physical format (vinyl) we realize this process could take a while, especially given the cost and the fact that it is nearly impossible to play shows right now. We also realize that in these dark times the world needs music, and this album was written largely to console ourselves, so we hope that it can console you too. We are so excited to share this music with you! It is an epic, celestial psych folk journey, vulnerable in the face of the oncoming apocalypse. A little over a month ago my uncle Paul Palazzolo passed away, and because these times are these times it has taken me a while to want to share anything about it on social media. As the holidays are upon us I can’t help but feel his physical absence, yet my heart and mind are brimming with memories and his spiritual presence. For those of you who knew Uncle Paul, to say he was an incredible, one of a kind individual is an understatement. He was of the funniest people I have ever known, a world class shit-talker, incredible deep thinker and feeler, and his unique sense for what leading a quality life really means had a profound influence on me growing up. All of the crazy bike tours I’ve taken were influenced by bike trips he took in the mid 90s, one of which he was gone for months and lived at our house afterwards to get back on his feet. I miss you Uncle Paul, and I know you are in a better place now. I’ll forever be hearing the echoes of your incredible story telling at the dinner table. On the day that I found out about Uncle Paul’s passing Kate and I were having a Crowey recording session and wrote a very spirited ambient piece for him, and by that I mean I felt a significant presence in the room during our entire recording session.
