how it happen

people always ask “how u get to meet and work with danny brown,” or something along those lines. so peep.

i never did anything musical when i was a kid. i skateboarded and skated and just loved music. everything. i was born in 89. went thru rap phase early, turned into emo shit, than metal shit. x

in jr high, i noticed in my group of friends being in a band and playing shows seemed like the funnest shit you could do. it was girls at shows. got to write songs. got to act a fool on stage.

when i was 12 my uncle gave me a guitar, that bitch sat there and collected dust for years. than my friend drew came over one day and played smells like teen spirit on guitar, i was amazed, and basically told myself, if he can play that shit , i could too. so i taught myself guitar and started writing songs. at the time i had a house with a basement so band practice was always at my house. with everyone leaving their instruments at my house i learned how to play drums and bass after learning guitar. from 8-12 grade i played in probably over 10 bands. played shows all over, all the time. making bullshit money but having fun and getting to know the scene. after i graduated high school i drove out to rochester new york and joined a band. that was when i first toured. the band was called museums. after that tour i quit the band because i couldnt get along with the guitarist.

so i got home and was kindve bummed out, thought my music “career,” was over and thought i still needed to write some music. now i knew i could play guitar bass and drums just needed a way to record it. at the time all my favorite bands had fake drums on their records so what i did was download a cracked version of reason 4 to program drums. than id bounce my drums into garage band. and record 2 guitar parts and a bass part. i made a myspace account to post my songs on. i was actually hit up by a band signed to victory records to play guitar for them but i turned them down because they were a joke.

so as a kid who just wanted to make music and learn non stop and a rap fan i thought in my free time for fun id make “beats,”

i downloaded a cracked version of reason 4.0 and just been experimenting. when it came to rap/hip hop i was always paying attention to the beat behind the song. was heavily influenced by juicy j, stoupe the enemy of mankind, heat makerz, havoc. and just taught myself how to sample and talked with other producers on forums to learn little tricks. when i kindve just had a hard drive full of beats i heard of beat battles through a mutual friend. i learned how to finesse the battles quickly, using beat drops, and adding quotes from movies/tv and i quickly started winning beat battles. thats how i met jus, chips, fat ray. ended up doing a track with chips and fat ray (take me to your leader) and the shit was hard. so chips started fucking with me and took me under his wing. if you know chips history he was in a group with danny. so when i started hanging with chips every now and again wed be around danny. eventually chips got in some trouble and was arrested for a minute so i was kindve doing nothing. that was when xxx was partially done. so danny looked out for me, and brought me in to help finish. but me and him just hung out as friends listening to music and playing xbox before we ever made music together. mind you, i was a metal kid so he showed me a whole side of rap i didnt even know about. the rest is history.
