what is the apush final semester 1 like? what would you recommend for this 1st sem final? I have an 82% (as of Oct30th) and am nervous as hell that I might not get the A....I know this was a LONG time ago for you, but if you vaguely remember anything, that helps! :D

bruh this was literally three years ago....as far as i can remember it was just like the chapter tests but cumulative. don’t know if you’re the same person asking about APUSH but see the other responses i’ve written, REA study guide is super helpful.

how did you manage with della santina's rule of only applying to 5 colleges?

Just talk to her about it and she’ll generally push it to 7 or 8 I think.

tips for sat? like how did you prep the few weeks leading up to it?...what subject tests did you take?

take as many practice tests as you can find, in a test-taking environment (timed, not checking your answers every three problems). i think i took chemistry, ecological biology, math 2, and us history

did you get a rec letter from welsh or howden? if yes, how did you ask them, and around when? (like end of junior yr or beginning of senior yr) ?

i got my rec letters from welsh and della-santina if i remember correctly. i asked at the beginning of senior year

tips for apush mc tests? I failed howden's 1st test...lmao...how did you normally study for them? (ps ik you took this class a while back but <3 )

this was a long time ago but i think pretty much everyone does pretty poorly on it so you’re fine. i remember i had the REA apush crash course book which was super helpful and pretty much indispensable for my test studying. make sure you take good notes on the textbook chapters and review that a lot, i remember reading my notes over breakfast on test days. good luck, it’s a very rewarding course if you put the effort in.

what camera do you suggest for completely new photographers?

dslrs on the market (and their sensors) are all pretty solid at this point. you probably can’t go wrong with either nikon or canon’s offerings, but i’d say to invest a nice lens or two (large aperture like an f/1.4 or f/1.8 prime). you can find some better deals if you’re willing to buy used gear - a fun kit would be an old nikon d700 and a 50 f/1.8 or something. i personally still own my d700 and use it for paid work.

an alternative once you learn the basics that’s pretty cool but a little pricey is a used sony a7 with adapted old manual focus lenses - the camera body will be a little pricey but it’s 24mp full frame, and old canon FD or minolta MC/MD lenses are cheap but often really sharp with some interesting character.

cole haan from nordstrom rack. i’d go for a darker brown instead of walnut for more versatility, and maybe look around at something like discounted allen edmonds or even meermin instead for better construction (look up goodyear welted vs cemented shoes to see what i mean). cole haan isn’t super worth the price (cemented) unless it’s highly discounted, i don’t think mine were worth what i paid
