The flamboyant figure skater stars in a searing new documentary that reminds us that, long after the Olympics are over, more—much more—must be done to help Russia’s oppressed gays.

Did you know that while Johnny was wowing everyone with his commentary at the Sochi Olympics he was also involved in an undercover documentary about the plight of the LGBT community in Russia? He wanted there to be a permanent record to serve as a reminder once attention moved on from Sochi. 

The doc came out in the fall of 2014. You can check it out on Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu. EPIX funded and premiered it, and they’re re-airing it this month, so check out their on demand if they’re part of your package.

Uploaded on May 1, 2009 Young Johnny Weir shows up at Nationals with 'just the cutest little haircut' (Dorothy Hamill's got nothing on him!) and captures all our hearts. Such an incredible performance.......the speed, the daring, the long, straight legged extensions, the great spins (the characteristic low, straight legged sit spins).........and when he wiggled his hands down in his final sit spin, we knew we had bought whole-heartedly into something new and unique (maybe Lucinda Rue had done that before, but we had never seen a male skater etching out new areas of exploration).

And Hungarian music to boot!!!!
