Late July at a foggy pond. I like this because along with crickets and a chipmunk you can hear a quiet black-billed cuckoo singing in the woods across the pond. Of the two cuckoos we get here, the black-billed is less common. The flowers in the foreground are joe pye weed.

This display of Allium (ornamental onion) cultivars shows the diversity of flowers in shades of whites. They provide such a great addition to a border or meadow both for the flowers and seed-heads. However, the white flowered cultivars are more prone to slugs grazing the flowers stems.

One minute of bees visiting the flowers. Most of these flowers are sensitive pea plants (the yellow ones) with some anise hyssop (purple) and one milkweed (bright pink). Sound on for buzzing.
