@jonathanhere-blog
Do it, do something, kiss me. As she looked up at him Violet couldnât help but try to will him her way because she was a coward and couldnât do it herself. She wanted him to close the gap between them and just do it, knock her socks off with one kiss that would seal them together but this wasnât The Vampire Diaries and she didnât have mind-controlling powers. Did she look needy? Was she showing too much in her eyes that he just kissed the tip of her nose before rolling off faster than heâd ever moved before? She laid there for a moment as his back was turned, her hands moving down to her shirt to tug it back down and sit up a bit. Maybe she was completely wrong? Or maybe sheâd just been delusional in thinking he liked her the same way she liked him, thatâs probably what it was. She wiped the crease that formed between her brows as he started turning around, a watery smile on her face as she took his hand and pulled herself up, âOnly if you make one for yourself too, Iâm definitely not sharing,â she smirked, tugging him into the kitchen.
âOne? Iâm making two for me.â he laughed as the pair walked hand in hand towards the kitchen. He would only ever get the courage to keep their hands together, anything past that seemed too scary for Jonathan. The irony was in the first day they held hands, the little boy was so excited he didnât let her go until his mom was at the door to pick him up, their play date over. It had been since then that Jonathan held onto her hand maybe a little too long. Or at least that is what other people said... to him, it never felt like long enough. Like a gentleman Jonathan pulled out one of the island chair out for her, only letting go of her hand when she sat. The boy emptied his pockets on the counter and clapped his hands together. âOkay time to make some magic.â
A victory laugh passed through Vi's lips as Jonathan yelled out those two words. She'd been lucky that he hadn't been expecting it or it would have been the other way around and she'd be the one yelling for him to stop between fits of laughter. Of course to every action there's an equal and opposite reaction and her upper hand was quickly lost in the shuffle as he managed to wiggle his hands under her shoulders. She was the gonner now, and she could tell that he knew it. As much as she tried she couldn't keep herself from squeezing her arms together to keep his fingers from moving, her fingers stopping their attack as a result of non-multitasking skills. "No! No!" she managed to laugh out as he switched his tactics and began to tickle her stomach. Violet could only try to wriggle away so much considering he'd someone ended up hovering on top of her. "Because.. it's funny to hear you lose it!" she huffed, still trying to get away from his relentless fingers. A brief pause later and she couldn't take it anymore, tears beginning to stream down her face from all the laughing. "OKAY! OKAY!" She made a grab for his wrists and pinned his hands to her stomach, "JONATHAN MORRIS IS THE HANDSOMEST GUY ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. YOU ARE GOD'S GIFT TO WOMEN!" She tried not to focus on how close he was or how his hands felt on her skin because her shirt had ridden up an inch or two in their struggle. "You got me this time Morris, this isn't over!" she laughed.
Jonathan had to stop himself from looking at her to avoid her noticing . He couldn't help it, not when her eyes shinned with light, not when her laughs filled the room, not when so much of her skin was visible, not when she was under him -- he had to stop himself there before his body got way too excited with the idea of her.  With the idea of them.  He should have told her right then and there, any smart man would've. But his friendly kiss on the tip of her nose and hastily exit proved he wasn't a smart man. As he stood he pretend to clean off his shirt, as if far too distracted to explain to her why he had moved. And when he did turn back at her he cursed himself off for being so childish. 'You like her. do something about it.' Just like every other time that thought was pushed aside. He cared about her too much to mess things up between them. Though that didn't stop the thoughts of regret as they came. With a hand extended out towards her Jonathan smiled. "How about we get you a Grilled cheese for not being a sore loser."Â
What was probably a huge source of embarrassment for him was so cute and endearing to her she had no idea how she could keep her hands off. His cheeks were already so pinchable and when he got like this, all blushy and flustered or frustrated, whichever it was he was feeling she found it cute. Without having to look she could already tell the pink warmth would be spreading up from the nape of his neck, his cheeks turning pink in 3-2-1. "I wasn't sitting this close to you before now was I?" the blonde countered, a smile plastered on her lips. When his face didn't turn into it's usual sunny grin her brows furrowed, instant worry hitting her. Had she crossed a line? Was he over her teasing? She began to raise herself off of his lap before he turned back to her with a smirk gracing his face. "You jerk, I thought I pissed you off!" she brought her hand up and shoved his shoulder lightly, laughter in her voice. Violet sat up and twisted herself so that she could reach her arms towards his sides where he knew he was ticklish before beginning a revenge attack.Â
"NO DON'T!" Was all he managed to say before Violet's hands found their way into his side, tickling the part she knew would make him completely loose it in a laughter fit. As a counteraction Jonathan reached for her underarms tickling her armpits to the point where she had to squeeze her arms to her side to get him to stop. An opportunity he didn't let go to waste. With Violet distracted and searching for yet another payback Jonathan moved over so he was now hovering over her. His fingers reaching to tickle her stomach as he laughed, his words coming out muffled in comparison. "I don't know why you always start this. Now you have to say it..." He looked down at her with a smirk as if he'd already claimed his victory.Â
She laughed as he said it was his one specialty. In reality he had several but she kept that to herself to keep him grounded. That was her job as a best friend wasn't it? To keep his head from getting too big? She was the one who couldn't multitask and he was the one who couldn't cook. Violet hadn't realized she'd been staring, actually staring was probably the wrong word. It was more gazing than anything, taking note of all the little things like the scrunch he did when he wanted to turn all attention off of him or the way he knew sticking his tongue out at her would pull her out of her thoughts. "Hm?" she finally said, blinking and turning her gaze to a spot on his cheek. She brought her hand up and wiped at the pretend spot, "Your face, duh. When are you going to learn not to bring your food back home with you?" she laughed, teasing him.
A blush instantly creeping into his face when Jonathan felt Violets fingers brush his skin, and although the contact was pleasant it was also average between the two and not the reason for his blush. What did cause it was embarrassment. That happened far too often where the pair would be hanging out and all of a sudden Violets gaze would turn to a spot on his cheek or his neck, again letting him know he had something there. And it wasn't like the boy didn't check. He'd gotten so paranoid that was the sole reason for the mirror behind their front door, so that he could give himself yet another glace before he opened the door for her. But once again he'd missed it and she proved how observant she really could be. He chuckled quietly as if to brush it off a confused, as well as he could manage, expression formed on his face. "You've been here for two hours and now is when you choose to tell me?" Pretending to be shocked by the whole thing he shook his head and looked away mumbling something about. "I swear you do this on purpose to make me look bad." When she reacted the way he knew she would he turned back to her a smirk on his face along with an 'I got you' expression.

vi: will telling you I was out there for 5 mins make it better? I just sat on a fireant hill for you!! Come inside I'm tending to my wounds >:(
Jon : Alright i'm coming!
Just like he had the talent to decipher the mood she was in based on the way her bangs looked, Violet knew exactly when Jonâs mind wandered to a place far, far away. Instead of interrupting whatever thoughts he was holding she opted for sitting back and enjoying the show. Just by looking at him you could see he was deep in thought, his brown eyes turning sort of glossy but not enough to take away the warmth they provided her with. Sometimes sheâd find herself just cataloging things he did. The way his eyelashes looked extra-long when he dozed off, the finger tapping she didnât think he knew he did when one of his favorite songs began to play⌠the list was endless. She blinked and before he could catch her she looked away. âOh please, like Iâd ever be able to keep anything from you,â the blonde laughed as she rolled her eyes at him. Violet was the most open book in the world. The longest sheâd ever kept a secret was probably about two hours only because Jon was in study hall while she had biology but this secret, the one about her feelings for him, that was one sheâd hold until she just couldnât anymore. The next thing she knew a pair of warm arms circled her, the feel of his skin on hers distracting her from keeping a giant grin from appearing on her face. She shifted so that her back was leaning on his chest, his arms still around her as she tilted her head up to look at him. âGrilled cheese kind of sounds really good, but donât move, I just got really comfortable,â she laughed.
No matter what their original plan was the pair always ended up like this, cuddled up in the couch both too comfortable to move. One would think that after years of friendship the two would have opted for a bed or the floor, anywhere with enough space to actually hold the two, but no. It was as if the they liked being so close all of them was touching. And despite their close proximity things never got awkward, they were never faced with a situation that would somehow hurt their friendship. One time came close, Jonathan had gotten a bit too excited to have his longtime crush so close and had to hastily make an exit yelling something about needing to pee. Whither she believed it or not was an unknown factor to him considering the two never brought it up again. The boy didn't move as she made herself comfortable, he simple opened his arms to give her more room, only to wrap them back around her when she stopped moving. Jonathan's laugh echoed hers at the mention of Grilled Cheese. "Ah, my one specialty." But typical of Violet to want something and change her mind not two seconds later, causing Jonathan to laugh again. His eyes found hers bring back a thousand memories with just one look. He scrunched up his nose, his young peeking out from his lips at the same time in an effort to distract him from the direction his thoughts where moving in. "Whatcha looking at?"

vi: or I could blame you let's go with that :D
vi: my mom feeds you more than me!! & stop texting and driving! I'll be the blonde outside with a spoon
Jon: like you usually do
Jon: you're right you're right BYEEE
--- ten minutes later ---
Jon: I half expected you to actually be outside with a spoon.
Jon: I am disappointed Vi. đ
âYou may have forgotten but I didnât. You thought you were soooo clever,â she laughed, burying her face into his shoulder. Based on his reaction and the fact that a smile stretched across his face instead of a grimace or a pout it was safe to say  had just lost the âWorst Photoâ competition they seemed to be in. âDammit, Iâll figure out something else and when you least expect it Iâll spring an embarrassing one on you. Do you know how hard it is to make you embarrassed? Pretty damn hard! Maybe Iâll take a look at your baby pictures, thereâs bound to be a couple in there.â She watched as he swiped through her pictures, the smile still on her face⌠until he got to a dangerously close proximity to a picture that was more for her eyes only than his. It wasnât a naked picture or anything scandalous like that but a screenshot of a conversation theyâd had in which sheâd set out to tell him her feelings for him via clues and a secret name for her crush. Unfortunately she ended up chickening out but she saved the conversation and looking back on it now the clues and their newly found maturity would probably make him solve the case quickly. âAnnnnd thatâs enough of that,â she rushed as she pressed the lock screen button and the screen went back. âI thought you were supposed to feed your amazing best friend?â
With the smile still taking place on his face Jonathanâs mind wondered off to another time while his hand simultaneously swiped away through her phone, an action that was as natural to him as swiping away on his phone. He remembered freshman year where their homeroom teacher had asked the class to write down their favorite memory. Jonathan had stared down at his paper the whole two hour class then gotten detention for not completing his assignment. Just like now the question seemed impossible in his eyes. Violet and the boy had spent more time in their life together than not and each time had been so perfect, as cheesy as it sounded, that Jonathan could not possibly choose one time. At detention that day, an hour and a half he spent away from his best friend, Jonathan remembered getting upset at the idea and the class because again he had stared blankly at his paper, unable to form a coherent sentence. When Violet surprised him by accompanying his mom to pick him up the fifteen year old had had enough. He didnât as much as glance her way the whole ride home. Only to feel like an idiot after when in his room she showed him what it was she had written. âAny time I spend with my best friend is my favorite ..â She had found a way to put into words exactly what he was feeling without even realizing it and it was since then that Jonathan stopped questioning their friendship. He chuckled as he looked down at her on the couch, her face buried against his shoulder and her hand clicking her pictures away. âHeeeey! Are you hiding something from me Cohen?â The thought not even momentarily staying in his head. He knew her like the back of his hand, they didnât keep secrets from each other. Well, except for the one he had been keeping from her since freshman year. With his hands now free from her phone he used it as an excuse to wrap his arms around her, caressing the exposed skin on her arm. âWhat did you have in mind amazing best friend of mine?â

Jon: okay I'm not but I WISH I WOULD'VE SEEN YOUR FACE WHEN YOU GOT THE NOTIFICATION đ
âItâs the principle of it all Johnny, if you erase it obviously I need to take better care of the embarrassing ammo I have otherwise youâll be the only one with things to leverage.â She was joking of course when she said sheâd made copies but he didnât need to know that. With the way things usually meant heâd probably already gathered that since her lying face was as easy to read as a billboard on the street. When she was content with his reaction and reached out towards her she handed him the phone, a picture of the both of them two years ago illuminating the screen. In the picture she was standing behind him, one arm wrapped around his neck as she smushed her face into his selfie and the other smearing whipped cream on his unsuspecting face. âOne wordâpriceless,â Violet chirped as she leaned closer to him to look too.
Jonathanâs face flushed when he saw the picture on the screen. âAwe shit. Iâd forgotten all about this.â He laughed as the memory came back to him. It'd been a couple years back for Violet's birthday. He'd told her he was in chafe of the cake and was later 'caught' taking a bite before the decorations had even been put up. Of course later when the singing started and she noticed the first cake had been a decoy she didn't exactly take the whole being pranked thing well. And as everyone enjoyed the real cake she sneaked away unnoticed and well the rest was in the picture. He was more excited the picture and memory still existed rather than be embarrassed by how much of an idiot he looked. "I still don't think you win this round Vi." A smirk on his lips as he swiped through the photo album on her phone.
The blonde watched his profile as he looked at the picture once again, her cheeks burning up and surely turning a dull shade of pink she hoped he didn't notice. With anyone else sitting this close would be weird but this was Johnathan, her best friend since she could remember, the two amigos, two peas in a pod.. the names went on and on. As he turned his head from the girl sitting in front of him to the girl who'd kill him if she'd known he'd taken that picture at that moment, she gave him a curious look before hearing his words and rolling her eyes at him. "It's because I love you so much that I take bad pictures of you. To keep you grounded basically," she laughed as she rolled away from him to reach for her phone. Violet quickly typed in her password and began to scroll through her photo albums, a picture already in mind as she scrolled with a purpose. "Aha! Before I show you, you have to promise not to try to delete it! I have copies!" she laughed, pointing at him as menacingly as a girl he could read like a book could.
"If you have copies why does it matter if I erase it?" The boy challenged, yet another laugh escaping his lips. He loved this, how easy it was to talk to her, to hold her close, to look at her and know exactly what was going through her mind, to love her. To love her. The only secret he could ever keep from her was the one he secretly wished she could see. It wasn't like he was hiding it, no that would be too hard. Instead he wore it on his sleeve and hoped, foul-lushly, that one day she'd be ready enough to see it. Ready enough to let him in, ready enough to love him back. As sad as it sounded he was okay with waiting. Because he'd never felt worthy enough of her love. At least this way he was waiting to be worth it too. Jonathan straightened up as if to prepare himself, his free hand reaching out towards Violet's phone. "Alright no deleting. Give it here."
Violet scrolled through her own phone as she watched Johnathan fiercely tapping away on his screen. She gave him a look before laughing to herself and placing her cellphone down beside her on the couch. When he held his screen out for her to see she grabbed his arm and pulled herself closer to him, her legs folding underneath her as she brought the screen up to her face. "Oh Goddddd! You're never gonna let that go are you?" she laughed, burying her face in his shoulder before peaking out to look at the picture. Of course he'd used his magical best friend skills to time the picture perfectly to digitize the exact moment he'd just described. It wasn't pretty. Her cheeks were red, her eyes were blotchy instead of their usual crystal blue and she was looking at the camera like a mad woman on a mission as she held out a couple of snow flakes. "It was a magical moment! You must be forgetting we live in a place were snow flakes are basically nonexistent.. shut up," she groaned, passing him back his phone before laughing along with him. "I have embarrassing pictures of you too, you know. Do you really wanna play this game?"
"Nah, it's too good to let go." With another chuckle Jonathan reached for his phone again. He studied the picture and despite himself, smiled. Not that he'd ever admit it out loud but this was his favorite picture of her. Violet's eyes were glittering with excitement as she took in her surroundings. Her wild curls had been tamed back, a sight that wasn't usually seen. And the color in her cheeks made her look healthy and alive. An image Jonathan hoped would never change. In one motion Jonathan was laying on the couch with Violet half on his side, half cuddled up on top of him. He looked back and forth between the picture and the girl now so close to him and shook his head. "Prove it." He challenged. "You love me too much to take bad pictures of me."
