Some stuff to know about Jooha:
born & raised in new york. grew up in a very happy family of 6.
he has two older sisters and one much younger sister, making him one of the middle children, but his mother made sure he never felt left out or forgotten. actually, since his sisters had such big personalities compared to him she probably showered him with a little more love to encourage him to come out of his shell.
very bright kid. loved school especially reading & writing bc he liked the fantasy worlds he read about in books but what he really liked was to sing. he found it to be a fun outlet and often participated in school talent shows and school plays. he was always told he should pursue it but he thought people were just being kind.
one summer he went on vacation to south korea to stay with his grandparents like they always did. during their stay their cousin planned to audition for an entertainment company. all his older sisters and him audition just so their cousin wouldn’t feel alone. it was all for funsies for them, not thinking anything would come of it......jooha was the only one who passed.
jooha wanted to go back home. he didn’t think he’d be happy away from his family. after all, he was only 14 at the time, but his grandparents convinced him to stay. and in part he didn’t want to regret not seeing where this could lead.

jaemin gaped at the younger before his expression soon turned fond, a soft smile stretching his lips. if any other member had suggested that same exact idea to him, he would’ve scolded them — however he’d still agree regardless of his initial reaction. “you’re right.” he readily agreed. “i don’t think anybody would be mad. . they’re pumpkins. everybody loves pumpkins.” he cooed as he fished his little coin bag from his hoodie pocket, handing over the required money for the seeds. min was only familiar with house plants and flowers so this was his first time trying his hand with a vegetable. maybe he should’ve done more research other than playing stardew valley but the thought of growing an actual pumpkin was exciting. he put the pumpkin seed packet in one of his bags before turning towards jooha. “did you see anything else interesting?”
"always am." he says in jest with how easily jaemin agreed to his plan. then again it didn't often take much to convince minnie to go along with what he wanted. must be the people pleaser in him. as jaemin paid for the seeds, jooha looked around. nothing really caught his eye but his nose did pick up on something sweet. he just didn't know where it was coming from. "no but something smells really good." he comments, already walking ahead, grabbing jaemin's arm and dragging him along. "i hope it's pie or freshly baked bread." he says, already salivating at the thought.
if one stared at her hard enough, there was a high possibility that they would see the loading symbol spinning in her head until it hits play. chloé lips part as she gawks at the man in nothing more than sheer disbelief. “i’m sorry, i look like a what ?” her tone clear of her taking full offense, though it wasn’t all that warranted. on any other day, the woman would find that funny, but cute nonetheless. unfortunately, aera was pissed at the world. no one’s fault but her own.
“ugh, whatever.” her scoff of dismissal comes out more as a sigh, one of defeat as she finally takes a seat of her own. her features bunch up into that of disgust at the way her clothes uncomfortably stick to her skin. why was it even worse when she sat? aera was in some form of hell on earth, she’s absolutely sure of it. instead of continuing to now play stir the noodles in front of her, she decides that some sort of conversation will make her night somewhat bearable. just a little.
“i would ask if you got caught in the rain too but …” her words trail off, doing a quick once over of jooha’s appearance. “looks like you’ve come prepared. so, what are you doing out in this ?” a manicured finger from her unoccupied hand makes a quick gesture toward the rain on the other side of the glass.
jooha brings the straw up to his lips, taking a rather long sip of his drink. he was on the verge of elaborating on what he'd meant though he didn't think there was much to explain. you either know what a dazed baby sea otter looks like or you dont. besides, he was more interested in watching a man's umbrella turn over with one strong gust of wind. he all too aware the same thing could happen to him on his way back but he chooses to believe it wont. he'll make it home safe and dry. manifesting if you will.
"i'm always prepared. i never the leave the dorm without checking the weather first." frankly checking the weather app was one of the first things he does in the morning. it's what decides how he'll dress for the day if the group stylist wasn't dressing him in the most uncomfortable pieces they can find. "plus i like the smell of the rain and..." he contemplates whether he should admit his real form of entertainment on days like this. "well it's a little funny when you see people scurrying around trying to find cover at the last second." he admits with a shrug. "theyre like little ants that have lost their way."
he proceeds to take travel size hand sanitizer out of his pocket and squeeze some of the gel into his hand before reaching out and offering some to the girl.
the summer season was nearing its end and soon the weather will start to simmer down bringing the perfect start to the holidays. jaemin was pretty excited about that, he’d BEEN tired of the heat since the beginning and he dearly missed wearing his favorite sweaters which were all too thick for the occasion. the only good thing about the season were the street markets. that was the only thing that would bring minnie out of indigo’s comfortable, air-conditioned dorm. as fun as they were however they never lived up to the ones back in busan. but hyeona and his dad liked getting knick knacks from seoul — something to remind them of him, was their reasoning. plus his sister was always one for gifts. shifting the three paper bags to his left arm, he picked up a packet of seeds. “look juju — pumpkin seeds for autumn!” he gushed. “wouldn’t it be cool to grow our very own pumpkins? do you think leader hyung will let us? we can get a planter and put it on the balcony then when they’re ready we can carve them and make roasted pumpkin seeds.” he rambled.
jooha had always been exceptionally fond of autumn. slowly he could feel the nights changing, cool breezes passing by when least expected and soon the color of the leaves would be changing too. it was probably his favorite part of the season changes back home. his personal favorite time to go for long walks in central park, taking in all the bright colors of the scattered leaves. he wants it to come sooner- but for now he's all too happy still visiting the markets with minnie. he always finds the sweetest berries to pair with his favorite yogurt in the mornings. he already had a bag full of strawberries and blackberries and was now on the hunt for whatever else is in season. jooha momentarily stops his search when jaemin calls out to him. he looks at the packet of seeds with a tilt of his head. isn't it a little too late to plant pumpkins. he hoped they'd be able to thrive against the oncoming cold that was on it's way. but what did he know? who is he to question the one member with a green thumb in the group? "or we can just do it and hope we dont get in trouble when we're caught. that seems easier." he says with a grin.
a frustrated huff can be heard from the idol as her hair drips water onto her phone screen for the nth time. being soaked head to toe by the rain was not on her 2024 bingo card. yet, here she was, seeking shelter in a nearby convenience store. the idol would source a ride home or to the company building at least, but she didn’t feel comfortable getting someone to drive with how hard the rain was pouring down.
“i should have stayed home.” the twenty-five-year-old chides to herself under her breath, pushing her slick locks out of her face. hazel eyes watch the drops fall from the sky, ignoring her reflection that beckons for her to take a look. chloé knew that she looked a mess, akin to a wet poodle with how her hair stuck to her face and how her casual clothes clung to her frame. perhaps holing herself up in the practice room wasn’t her greatest choice tonight. obviously. her suspicions were confirmed when she had purchased ramyeon, the cashier sparing her a look of pity.
the idol would rather have messed up a lyric or missed her cue on stage than to be given that look ever again. well, it was an exaggeration. netizens would shred into her, looking for any minor thing to hate on her or her group members these days. sue her for her dramatics. aera had been too caught up in wallowing in how the universe hates her to have noticed the person, presumably also taking shelter from the torrent of rain, occupying the space of the dining counter next to her. glancing over, her hazel eyes catch them looking away — caught red-handed staring at her.
“do i look that bad ? you’re staring. that’s rude, you know.”
jooha walks in and makes a beeline for the drinks. he grabs a cup of ice, his favorite peach flavored iced tea, and a small bag of chips. this was his typical get away when he needed a little space from the other guys at the dorm. he knew it wasn't as crowded as the other dorms but he still liked his alone time, especially on days like these when the rain kept most of them trapped inside. but this was nothing a good pair of rainboots and a sturdy umbrella couldn't combat. once paid, he takes his things to the side and takes a seat so he could watch the rain fall. he liked the steady downpour and he found it quite amusing when he saw the occasional person running around unprepared. its even more amusing when he sees them up close and their makeup seemingly deemed waterproof had failed. yikes.
he immediately recognizes chloe, but he wasn't sure whether to say anything at all. he did come here for a little peace and quiet after all. he instead glances down, his eyes following the trail of footprints leading to her before getting a better look at the girl and the leaf caught in her hair. he hadn't realized he'd been staring until she shifts and they make eye contact for a split second too long. was there even any point in pretending he hadn't been looking? probably not but he refused to look back even after she speaks up. he scoffs at her words. one could argue that just sitting there with a growing puddle of water pooled down under her feet was just as rude. "you sort of look like a baby sea otter." he finally answers, stabbing his straw into his cup.
these days, jinnie was spending more time at the company building than in the braveheart apartment. she didn't have complaints about it; she was excited for the upcoming docket of collaborations and projects she was preparing for. but she did have to admit — she was tired. that was precisely why the maknae found herself at the cafe on the ground level, sipping an iced caramel macchiato on her quick break. she looked up at the mention of her name, smiling brightly as her friend approached. " jooha~ not at all ! please sit. " jinnie enthused, toying with her straw. " i haven't seen you in forever. "
jooha readily takes a seat and sets the plate of cookies down on the table, pushing it closer to jinnie to invite her to take some. "i know. things have been a little chaotic huh." sometimes he felt he barely had time for himself let alone to hang out with his friends. infinite was never one to turn away from an opportunity to work their idols into the ground. didn't matter how much they had going on- the company always thought they could be doing more. this cafe was one of the few things keeping everyone going. "don't think i didn't notice you scurrying away when you saw me the other day." he jokes.
chaerin adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder for what felt like the thousandth time as she waited near a pond. for someone somewhat in tune with her emotions, jooha really knew how to mess them up with just a fragment of his existence that even the thought of spending time with him was too much for her heart to handle. it should be expected but knowing he wanted to do something special for her birthday had brought tears to her eyes; she was touched. her mind had to remind her that he probably did this for his members and other friends too so she couldn’t get too excited or worse, hopeful. she blinked down at the plastic container of homemade cookies — she wasn’t told to bring anything but she felt bad coming empty handed. perking up at the sound of his voice, she turned and waved happily. “thank you.” she gushed almost shyly with a tint of red adorning her cheeks. “whatcha got in there?” the dancer asked to distract herself from the butterflies in her stomach, pointing to his little wagon with an endeared giggle.
"oh this? you'll see soon enough." he says with a grin. "but to start off..." he lets the strap of his backpack slide off his shoulder and opens the bag just enough to take something out from the top. "no celebration is complete without the proper attire." he says, showing rin the pointy birthday hats he'd bought. it wasn't his first choice. he'd gone into that store with the intention of buying a crown but this was all they had left. he gently tugs down on the elastic band and carefully places the hat on the girl. "cute." he chuckled. he'd understand if she wanted to take it off but at least now he'd given it to her.
