….You look buff when you run.
Really? Good. That was the point. How else am I supposed to impress you?
I can see. It’s crazy. I mean, it’s best to stay out of it because we don’t have anything to do with it, but…I don’t know about you, but curiosity is getting the best of me.
I hear you. I'm tempted to ask Lily about it, but she can get quite riled up at times so it may be safer for me not to.. I'm Joseph, by the way.
Well in other news, the beaches here are great. Went for a run by the shore this morning. They really know how to keep it clean, not one piece of trash or litter was in sight.
All I did was go to make food, and I come back and hell has broken loose. Colour me confused.
Yeah, that makes two of us. I'm not really sure what's going on, but people are pissed.
Friday Night || Joe & Lily
Lily gave out a choked laugh. Everything just felt so sad, so broken. “You sure know how to charm a girl. Please, there were at least 50 girls hotter than me at college. And I doubt the would have said no to a babe like you." She had so many things she wanted to say, but she didn’t know if they’d ever have the time. There was so much baggage, but she doubted he would stay around if she told him about it, so she plastered a fake grin on and nodded at him. “Just know I’m not forcing you. If I stop tickling your fancy, feel free to find a new female friend." Lily said all of this with an over-dramatic sigh at the end.
"It’s got prostitutes who sing and dance, you should love it." She went over to where she had left her bag by the door and fished out the movie.  It felt good to at least have it out in the open that she was frightened by the prospect of him leaving. It made her feel less pressure in her chest and brain and it felt like a literal weight had been lifted off her shoulders. It was just a movie night, something simple couples who weren’t teeter- tottering on the edge of breaking up did. And she just wanted to cuddle up with her boyfriend and relax. “You get total brownie points if you make popcorn while I sit here being lazy. And those are ontop of the ones you’ll earn for not judging my tone-deaf warbling and sobbing." She grinned and plopped herself down on his bed, getting comfortable.
Joe chuckled a bit at Lily's dramatic antics. "Yeah right, I'm a total ladies man, couldn't you tell? .. 50, huh. Sounds like you were counting. You know, with all of this talk from you about your new lesbian orgy I'm beginning to wonder.. " he joked, taking the movie from her and putting it into the player. He left out the part about the absurdity of her comments. Lily Rogers had to be the only person who didn't know she was Lily rogers. Whether she was crazy or not, he knew there were more than enough people willing to take his place. And there was something nerve-racking in that. The feeling that one day she might just leave for something better was always present in the back of his mind.
"Well, if its got prostitutes who dance that changes everything. Popcorn it is.. as you wish, m'lady," he said, dramatically bowing. Opening the bag, he put it into the microwave. As he waited her turned around and leaned against the counter, grinning at her. "So will there really be warbling and tears? Hey, no judgement here. I didn't know the movie was that sad though."

Friday Night || Joe & Lily
Lily nearly lost it once he sat down next to her, but managed to keep it in. Once he moved her hands and intertwined them, she had a harder time and nearly let a tear slip. “You don’t?" She didn’t understand why her hurting him only led to him coddling her when she was doing nothing but screwing things up. She scoffed when he told her all the things about her. “Too bad the pretty face doesn’t do much for the rotten core. I’m only funny when I’m drunk and you know it! And I apologized for that. Your eyebrows grew back! They’re nice eyebrows too. Of course I’ll give it all I got. I can’t risk losing you. You’re….one of the better things I’ve got right now."Â
She wrapped her arms around her so he wouldn’t see the tears slipping out. “I never want to lose you. Please…I know I’m not perfect…but please don’t leave me." Lily didn’t like how vulnerable she was getting. She had to fight the urge to literally stand up and run away. So she wiped her tears and leaned back to look into his eyes. “I brought Moulin Rogue. I thought maybe we could watch it and unwind. I don’t know…" She felt like such a dork compared to him. He had all his shit together and she was a mess. But he was hers and she could be thankful for that.
Joe let out a deep breath he wasn't even aware he had been holding. For a moment he was almost worried she was going to say she didn't want to do this anymore. "You don't have a rotten core, and you make me laugh all of the time, even when you're sober. Still I think it's best if we keep you away from fire from now on, besides, you're hot enough as it is," he said, chuckling a bit at his poor attempt at humor. His expression sobered as he considered the weight of her remark. Her words felt personal, something that was not necessarily common between their lighthearted nature. He reached over and gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "Hey, don't worry babe, I won't. I'm here to work things out. I'm not going to leave."
He nodded his head at her suggestion, relieved that the conversation was beginning to steer toward a lighter tone. It felt better to clear some of the air, to open up a little bit, but expressing feelings was still new territory to him. But if that was what it took to make this work, then he'd be damned if he didn't at least try. Her insecurities, among many other things, were baffling to him. She wasn't perfect, but there was an indescribable magnetism and mysterious allure that drew many people, himself included, to the girl. Lily Rogers could have pretty much anything she wanted, and for some insane reason, right now she wanted him.
"Moulin Rouge.. Isn't that a total chick flick?" He raised his eyebrows and jokingly groaned. "Well, for you, I think I could bear though it. Count me in. If you wanna get the movie out, I'll get the DVD player set up," he added, standing up to get it working with the TV.
I’m Casey. It’s nice to finally know your name.
Likewise. How's Bora Bora treating you?
Uh.. 'sup homie? So what's crackin' or.. yeah, I don't know where I was going with that. I'm Joe.
Boredom should be my middle name.
And it'd be a boring one at that. Speaking of names, I don't believe I caught yours that last time we spoke. I'm Joseph.
I resent this accusation! Who likes reptiles with their scaly gross skin and ugh.
I think you do. I might even get you one for your birthday.
Sure it didn’t. If you smell reptiley, I’m going to smack you.
Mhm, and how do you know what reptiles smell like Miss Rogers? Are you sure you don't secretly like them? You probably even have a pet snake somewhere.
Well, let’s be cautious here and pretend it did. You can stay over…there.
Hey, I was kidding! It didn't crawl on me, I swear. I'm a light sleeper.
If it had touched you, I would never have touched you again. Ever.
Well that doesn't sound like fun. All because of a lizard? Be rest assured, it didn't.. I hope.
Burn the nightstand and never touch it ever again. God, I do not like the little critters.
Burn it? That's a tad bit dramatic don't you think. I just shooed it outside and everything was cool. I have to say the thought of it crawling in me in my sleep isn't too pleasant, though.
….Was  it on you or just in the window?
None of the above. The little bugger had made its way onto nightstand.
