Brazil Journal Entry Sept 20, 2012 - A Travelers Peace "The day has come... Now there are only a few hours separating myself from the beginning of yet another journey. I'm heading home! What is that feeling? The flowing peace to a weary traveler traveling home. Yes, a peace! More so, it is a sense of completion; accomplishment; knowing that 'rest' is what soon awaits. At the beginning God expressed Himself. That personal expression, that Word, was with God and was God, and he existed with God from the beginning. All creation took place through Him, and none took place without Him. In Him appeared life and this life was the light of mankind. Yesterday was just one of those days. My friend's van broke down on his way to meet us at the mountain property. Our plan was to build some furniture out of old wood we found but the day had different plans. After trying for a hour or so to fix the van, we soon realized our lack of the right tools and so decided to hit up this pile of wood we had spotted from the road instead. I found an old whiskey bottle with some still in it and felt that it would make a good keeper item. We loaded some nice solid pieces of wood into the trailer and Ethan felt like running down the mountain because of all the excitement. In doing so he stepped on a rusty nail. Luckily he just got his tetanus shot six months ago. Lockjaw sucks. I captured this shot inside an old metal bus in the course of it all. (at Cedar Crest, New Mexico)

So on January seventeenth I asked my gal where in all of Abq she would like to go for her birthday and she told me "the antique store". So we did just that! It's an amazing thing to me that, whatever I happen to be doing with her is of such little importance compared to the simple blessing of just being with her. Also, if you look close enough you will see her vintage coat that we also bought at the same antique store. 😊 Have a blessed evening everyone!

Walking back from the mountain pub, Janae and I spotted these lofts which were directly located above other shops an restaurants. The -35degrees weather rushed us but we were able to snap this shot of some icicles forming above their porches. Pretty neat night! ☺🙏❄ (at Red River, NM)

Yesterday I visited my old elementary/middle school in the small New Mexico mountain town of Tijeras. It's been so many years! As I walked the halls I once walked and looked into the classrooms I once spent many hours in, the countless memories began to flood my mind. I felt this sense of sadness, sort of like a "missing" feeling yet I also felt happy in remembering all that had happened there. In my mind I could see my chubby short little self still running around outside on the playground. My friends still sat at their desks. My old teachers still lectured from the front of the classroom. If anything at all happened to me while I was there, it was the reminder to appreciate WHERE YOU ARE in every season of life. We are so ready to "get on with it", "get through it" or even "grow up" that I think we tend to miss out on just the simple treasures God has for us in this "treasure chest" called Life.
