Why Did I Need A Second Hair Transplant?
After last year’s hair transplant the results were good and everyone always say’s how good it looks, and actually I sometimes get embarrassed about it, mainly because I’ve personally never been totally 100% happy. The hair strangely came back thicker and wilder than my normal hair which is very rare, and I did everything possible to disguise it. So after thinking long and hard about it and speaking to the doctors and my case worker we all thought it would be best to have a second operation to make it more dense which will achieve an even more natural looking result and improve the hair’s texture too.
This isn’t a decision I’ve taken lightly because yet again I knew what I was letting myself in for which is somehow worse knowing what’s coming, also I’ve got to walk around for a good few months look daft nevermind the pain…
Yet again my care assistant has been amazing. Over this whole journey we’ve become friends, no question is ever too small, I literally can message him about something I was nervous about or wanting to look at different hotel options or visa and he’s helped and that’s one of the reasons why I’ve recommended them to so many people.
TODAY’S SURGERY
The procedure itself took about 6 hours this time. I got picked up at 8:30am from the hotel and taken to the clinic, blood samples were taken and I discussed my expectations, what I wanted and the days events were explained, I am so happy though that I can keep my hair on top though this time, that’s so much better and not as dramatic!!
The full day surgery started with lots of local anaesthetic in the back of my head for the grafts (this wasn’t nice and I fainted again) The next part took about 1 ½ hours laid face down extracting the donor grafts whilst the doctors worked with pieces of my scalp under a microscope, separating the follicles into clusters of one, two and three hairs. That’s the most natural way your hair grows to get the most natural look, the hairs have to be transplanted in these compositions.
We broke up for quick break, Percy Pig’s and full fat Coke!!!! The next stage was a breeze in comparison I got to sit up, more local anaesthetic, at the front this time. The Doctor made all the little incisions in my scalp ready for the grafts to go in, I found it quite relaxing for some reason.
We stopped, had a quick lunch. Then came to putting in the grafts, I was dreading this part because last time I really felt it but honestly it wasn’t painful at all.. I sat there listening to the music - don’t get me wrong, it’s tiring, draining and emotional- but so much better this time round.
By about 3:30pm we were finished. I had some plasma injections for the healing process, and the doctor gave the final check that I was fit and well to leave. The I got my big of meds and had all those explained to me and the do’s and dont’s.. I don’t know as of yet how many they transplanted I’ll try to remember to ask tomorrow… I can tell it much thicker and fuller though already!!
Now back at the hotel my head really hurts, I’m tired, emotional and just wanted a cuddle but the whole day had gone very well. All the highly-skilled team there were amazing to me I really had been well looked after once again I know that this time it was really hard going over a transplanted area.
Let’s see what happens now…
Rooney and James Nesbitt have had 2 transplants , Calum Best has had 3….

It’s been an emotional and strange few days (I’ve never had so many injections in my life as well) - I’m going to miss Istanbul, I’ve been very well looked after, but hopefully this is the start of what I came to achieve ... oh Christ I think I’m going to cry again!!! #hereigoagain #crybaby #hairtransplant #newgoals #fullhair # (at Istanbul Ataturk Airport - IST)
