That's the cruel joke of making, or any creative discipline for that matter: no matter how much you progress in your career, the duality of thrill and terror that exists with all new things will never leave you. In fact, the better you get and the more experience you acquire, the better you are at understanding objectively where your work and your wisdom fall short. Self-doubt never leaves the attentive craftsperson, so you best make friends with it. And if you don't know how, here's some advice: have the patience and humility to ask someone who's been there before.

On our way to Korea, Sarah Jane held her hand up by the window (re-enacted photo)... I thought maybe she was feeling the cold draft down from the window so I put my hand out too, to try to feel it, but couldn’t feel anything...

Space is Only Illumination

In Massimo Uberti’s career, light has always been at the centre of a coherent process of reduction. As he sought to gain control over light, his effort was directed at reducing it to its essence in order to liberate its potential. He treats it as a physical phenomenon to be understood and tended, as a way of representing the visible in painting. In his photographs it has become a staple technical instrument and at the same time a format of display. Finally, in his installations, he strips it of all other substance and makes it his raw material, to the point where it is the work. In Tendente infinito, conceived within the framework of the Dreams of a possible city project, the urge to reduce everything to the essential is reflected in the ideal nature of the city, Filarete’s Sforzinda. This an impalpable and extreme object to which nothing can be added and from which nothing can be taken away. Space is only illumination, in the twofold sense of a source of light and enlightenment, and it is thanks to the meticulous sacrifice of volume in the quest for lightness that it succeeds in becoming infinite, generating, as if by hybridization, new and other spaces beyond its confines.

Observations Towers Isometric Drawings

In the words of the artist Coen Pohl:

Us humans have been building observation towers for thousands of years for war, radio-signals or simply because we enjoy it so much to get up in the sky and see the world below us. Getting on a high viewpoint is still something that feels magical and to keep that magical feeling going, we keep building bigger and taller.

I decided to make these towers as a personal project because I love the geometrical shapes and interesting lines a lot of these towers have. All for the purpose of making us feel like a bird for a few moments. Another goal was to practice more with the 3D functions in Adobe Illustrator, and  in which these towers are made.

Japan’s parliament voted to overturn a 67-year-old law that prohibited dancing after midnight in bars and nightclubs.

The law was originally enacted during the American occupation of Japan after World War II to combat prostitution at “dance halls” along with concerns that such areas promoted drug use and violence.
