“Fear?” Josephine repeated before trying to clear her face of any expressions. “How about now? Does this look scream fearless?” She asked. “A bit. I just can’t wrap my head around this question, it feels as if I’ve missed an entire week of school and they covered the entire chapter in that week.”

“I dropped it in my froot loops,” Oscar replied like it was the most normal response ever. “I was watching something and there was a jump scare and it fell out of my hand when I jumped… and you’re smart enough to work out the rest.” It probably was his fault for watching horror videos over his breakfast. “I put it in rice because apparently that’s what you’re meant to do but it has not some anything. Why would you put your phone in a bag of cooked rice anyway? Makes no sense.”

Josephine listened to the other’s story with her eyebrows burrowed slightly. While she knew it was probably a common situation to be in but she almost couldn’t believe she was hearing it. “Rice would help, it helps soak up the liquid. Especially if it’s only a small amount- wait. Did you say cooked rice?”

“Of course Jojo, you know I’ve always got your back,” Marzia nudged her friend with a grin. “Shit, for real?” she adjusted her spot in the chair and looked to Josephine with concern. “What have you got on that list? Maybe I can help lighten the load so you’re not overworking yourself today?”

“I don’t know what I’d do without you.” Josephine spoke- it was said as a brief joke but at times Josephine truly didn’t know at times. “It’s mostly school work, I have assignments for magiphilosophy and potionology. On the same day! Have you started?”

“I’m glad you’re impressed because it’s the only one that works every time. All the other ones I know… only sometimes work for me,” he admitted sheepishly, putting the cards back into a neat pile. “Oh man, probably about six or seven years now? I got obsessed with these after seeing a show about magicians on Earth and wanted to learn. I could try to teach you if you’d like?”

“Completely impressed! Do you want to try the other ones? I promise I won’t laugh or tell anyone if it doesn’t work as planned.” She promised; anything that Harvey could do was miles away from anything that Josephine could. Her attempt would probably end up with a giant mess of cards on the floor. “That sounds so cool! Did the show teach you? That would be great! I’d love to try!”

“Ooh, on the gravel?” Josie asked, making a face at the news. “If the gravel got into the charging or headphone ports it could cause this. I can try for you, it should be as easy as opening it and getting whatever is stuck in it out but... Do you need your phone soon?”

Pushing back his damp hair, Elijah motioned to the person nearby. “You know, are you gonna stay there under shelter or join me? Josephine frowned as she looked out to the rain from under the cover. “A little bit of rain? Are you serious? It’s closer to a storm!” She exclaimed, while Josie loved winter and the cold, she did not like the rain. “I’ll wait here until it stops raining, thank you very much.”

Clearly he was wrong. “Now it just sort of, does what it wants to.”

“A bowl of cereal? How did you manage that?” Josie questioned the other, “Well, no lines is a good sign. That means there’s nothing wrong with the screen or inside. It might just need the water cleared out of it, which depending on how long it was in there for, it could just need to sit for a while or opened.”

Josie frowned as she looked at the phone, “It helps that you wiped it down, the outside is usually more resilient but... if it got inside the phone it might cause damage to the system.” Jo explained. “Two minutes is a while, I can try to fix it for you, it might take a while though. I still have a lot of work to catch up on. Do you have something else to use?”

“Nobody likes a know it all.” Josephine spoke, trying to stifle the roll of her eyes as he spoke. “What is the right equation, then since you know everything?”

“I wasn’t asking you because you were a technology fairy, that’d be like me saying that because I’m an animal fairy I can fix your dog. And a lot of the times that won’t be the case, especially if it has a broken leg of grade four spinal issues.” He rambled before clearing his throat, “But I was just asking if you knew what I should do other then switching it on and off again because I’m terrible with technology. Unless it’s memes, I’m brilliant with memes.” He pointed out. “I-… did not, I mean, it’s not like I have rice lying around in my room.”

Josephine listened patiently to the rambling, letting him talk before she responded. “Turning it off and on again only works for software issues. What happened to it? Did you drop it? Is there lines on the screen? Dropped in water?” Josephine asked, closing her books so that she could better help even if she had a lot going on- she couldn’t say no.
