Sophia stood there, willing herself to go into the place of worship but something stopped her from going in. She almost felt like she didn’t deserve to, because of her recent thoughts and mistrust in Him, especially with her jealousy towards the Park residents who could leave. She just wanted a hug from her mom, but she couldn’t have that right now. The blonde let out a shaky sigh and turned around quickly, beginning to walk without even looking where she was going and slammed right into the other. “Oh shoot, I’m sorry!” She gasped, reaching out to steady the other just in case, though she was only small she doubted she could knock anyone over. “Are you ok? I’m really sorry I just— not with it, obviously.” 

Joseph was on his way to the festival that Lake Grimstone had put together, he liked this time of year, then again because he was in Park he was always able to roam the place. He was lost in his thoughts thinking about what he was going to do first at the festival when he felt someone crash into him. Joe let out a soft chuckle when she reached for him “no worries, I’m fine. Are you?” He asked offering her a smile. “I get it, I guess I should have paid a little more attention to. Are you heading to the festival? I feel like I should make sure you  get to your destination safe and sound.”

Elizabeth sat on the ground, her eyes closed, as she focused on the earth around her. She was trying to meditate and usually, it wasn’t that hard for her to do so. But recently, her mind wouldn’t stay quiet. The sickness was worrisome, her last encounter with Daniel kept playing in her head, and the fact that the earth barely did as she asked as of late stressed her out beyond what she wanted. She thought she had finally gained control over her power but once again, her emotions decided otherwise. 

The earthquake generator pulled in a deep breath, held it for a few minutes and then counted down from ten as she let the breath out. As she did so, she heard a stick break behind her and she flinched, automatically coming out of whatever “zen” moment she had just been in. “Come to join me or are you here to disrupt my relaxation time?”

To Joe it would seem as the whole town had taken a breather, but really it was him the one that hardly did anything other than work and train. He had hardly spent time with Elizabeth which he knew was on him and it was something that he wanted to change. The last thing that Joe wanted was to revert back to that guy that had arrived at Lake Grimstone all those years ago and he knew that a big reason why he was no longer that man was because of Elizabeth. 

His lips immediately curved upwards into a smile when he saw her. The wind blew her beautiful chocolaty brown hair and she looked at peace, a peace that sadly he had just interrupted. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt you.” He said offering her a smile. “I just missed you, but I can go and we can meet up later.”

Summer wrapped her green Christmas jacket around her as she walked towards the center of town. She got up on the nearest bench and glanced around her. With the recent announcement, she wanted to try to be even more joyous than before. Whether she fought for it or not, it might actually be her last Christmas in Lake Grimstone. She wasn’t really sure if she believed the person on the intercom, but Summer wasn’t going to let anything get her spirits down around the Holiday’s. 

She cleared her throat before smiling and then singing. “Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa la la la la, la la la la.” 

She paused and glanced towards the person near her. “Come on, join me!” She begged gleefully. “Tis the season to be jolly…” Then she pointed towards the person, waiting for them to finish the sentence for her.

There was nothing that Joe wouldn’t do for Summer, but singing Christmas Carols in the middle of town might be pushing it. “Why couldn’t you ask me to give you both of my kidneys?” He joked as he walked up to her. She was right, though, it was the season to be jolly. 

Joe stood next to her and took in a deep breath. “Alright, so what do you want to sing?”

“See you guys next week.” Natasha laughed, waving to the last of her students for the night as they shuffled out of the studio. It was late so she lingered, watching carefully from the door as they piled into their parents’ cars and drove away. Sighing, she ran a hand over her ponytail and turned back toward the studio to begin closing down for the night. Nat turned on the radio, listening to an announcer speak about the latest victim. She puffed out her cheeks, releasing the air in a loud huff. She thought she’d left crime in New York City.  The hair on the back of her neck stood up as she heard the bell chime above the door. Her last dancers had already left for the night. “Sorry. It looks like you’re too late for class and I don’t do private instruction.” She joked, calling over her shoulder to the door.

Joe ducked into the first opened shop that he found to shelter himself from the downpour that seemed to come out of nowhere. Joe began to wonder if maybe someone with power had been responsible for the sudden change in the weather. The brown-haired man ran his hands through his hair sending droplets of water flying through the air. He hadn’t paid attention to where he walked in to and hadn’t looked up until he heard a soft voice. 

“Damn, so I walked through that downpour for nothing?” He asked once he realized where he was at. “That’s what I get for not calling first,” he added with a chuckle. “I’ll be out of here soon, just waiting for the rain to let up and then I can make it to my bar.” He said to the woman who had seemed a bit startled.

Losing a loved one is never easy and Joe was not the exception. After having lost his first love, Joe shut down and it wasn’t until he came to Lake Grimstone at the age of nineteen that he felt like he had once again started to live. Lake Grimstone became his home and to make the feeling even more permanant he bought a dying bar and turned it into one of the busiest bars in Lake Grimstone. 

Everything he loves is in Lake Grimstone and the thought that someone is terrorizing the city does not sit well with the bar owner. The usually well-mannered man will have no problem killing the killer if he ever gets the chance to lay his hands on them. 

SUMMER JACOBS - GIRLFRIEND 

Joe met summer shortly after arriving at Lake Grimstone, what started off as a nice friendship turned to more and now he can’t see his life without her in it. 

WENTWORTH FRANK - GANG MEMBER/FRIEND

Wentworth is not just part of the gang that Joe is in, he’s also a good friend. While he trusts everyone in the gang it is Wentworth who he trusts more. He knows that if anything were to happen to him that Wentworth will be sure to look after Summer.

“My beauty?” Elizabeth asked, a low chuckle escaping her lips. “I mean, I’m sure you could have found a more beautiful than me.” She wasn’t worried about that though. At one point in her life, she might have been, but not anymore. She knew Joseph loved her, and she loved him. “Well that’s good because beauty never lasts.” She giggled. She felt the same way. His personality and his actions were the reason why she fell in love with him. He had never been scared of her, even when she was using her power. And that meant a lot to her.

She let out an excited squeal when he flipped her over onto her back. She bit down on her lower lip as her eyes met his. Sometimes she wondered how she even managed to keep Joseph in her life. And before she could say anything back, his mouth was on hers. Elizabeth sighed into his lips as she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. 

Calm, calm. Stay calm. She ordered herself as she continued to kiss her boyfriend. 

Had you told him three years ago that he was going to once again be able to love and be happy, he wouldn’t have believed it. Joe had been so set in being miserable because he believed it was what he deserved. But then he met Elizabeth and he began to feel differently, he began to think that maybe he could be happy, then thanks to Summer, he was able to realize that his happiness was all that Zoe wanted and so he was able to finally move on. 

“It does not, but in my eyes, you will always be the most beautiful woman in the world, even when you’re wearing a facemask and hair rolls,” he teased. The truth was that while yes he had to have been somewhat attracted to her, it had been her personality and the way she treated others what had made him want a relationship with her. 

Joe ran his hand up her legs as he kissed her, softly at first and then with a little more passion. “I love you” he whispered between kisses that were filled with passion and desire for her. His heart began to beat faster against his chest and he could feel his skin growing warmer.

Her cheeks remained red at his words. Even though they had been together for around three years now, she still became nervous around him. She couldn’t help it. But thankfully, it wasn’t the kind of nervous that would cause the ground to shake. 

As she lay there on the bed, she bit down on her lower lip when he began pulling the robe down. Her stomach filled with butterflies when he unhooked here bra and then began rubbing his hands over her back. She let out a low hum, her eyes closing for a moment as she relaxed into the cushions. 

“No, definitely not.” Elizabeth chuckled. She honestly never thought anyone would be able to love her like Joseph did. “I just remember thinking about how attractive you were and how you’d never go for someone like me.” She admitted with a smile. 

He let out a chuckle at her words and leaned forward “I would have had to been blind to not see your beauty,” Joe whispered against her ear as his hands continued to move against her skin. “But while it was your beauty what first attracted me, it was your personality what made me fall for you” Joe added. 

Being careful not to hurt her, he flipped her over so that she was now looking up at him. Blue hues took in the beauty below them and he couldn’t help but smile. “You are amazing” he whispered just before he closed the gap between them.

Elizabeth still couldn’t believe that Joseph had done something like this for her. It filled her heart with happiness. She still couldn’t believe half the time that he was even her boyfriend. That he even still wanted to be with her after everything from her past. “A special night?” Elizabeth asked, glancing up towards her boyfriend. “What kind of special night?” She giggled, teasing him as she let him lead her into the tent. 

Her cheeks flushed when she noticed the robe. He wanted her to undress and put this on? In a tent? Butterflies flew in her stomach as her nerves began to catch up to her. Why was she so nervous? It wasn’t like he had never seen her without clothes on before. “Yes.” She nodded. She hated how they had to be so careful about her power. She always had to control her emotions, be calm and relaxed whenever they decided to do anything together. Or else she’d cause the earth to shake. Sometimes she even wondered if she was worth all of the effort. 

She pushed the thoughts out of her mind as she turned and began to undress. She pulled her shirt off and her pants, keeping her underwear and lace bra on before pulling the robe over her body. If he wanted her other clothes off, he’d have to take them off himself. She lowered herself onto the bed, waiting patiently for him. 

“Well... let’s just say if it becomes more special than what I had planned, a nice relaxing massage, I won’t be mad.” He said with a soft chuckle. When she began to undress he didn’t know what to say or where to look, it wasn’t like he had never seen her undress before, it was just that usually, he was getting undressed as well. 

Joe smiled when she got into the bed and he untied her robe before moving her so that she was comfortably laying on her stomach. He removed the robe from her upper body pushing it down and leaving it to still cover below her waist. His hands moved to unhook her bra and once her back was bare he put two drops of massaging oil on his palms and rubbed his hands together. Gently he began to massage her back. 

There was nice relaxing music in the background which Joe hoped would do its job and keep El relaxed. “Did you think back when we met at the lake that this was where we would end up?” He asked with a smile on his face that she could not see.

Elizabeth was ready for a break. One that took her away from the heart of the town. One that was with her boyfriend and only him. So, when he told her to close her eyes, she did as he asked. “I swear, if you let me trip, you’ll cause the earth to shake.” She teased him as she let him lead her in any direction that he wanted. She squeezed his hand and then opened her eyes when he asked.

Her eyes widened at the tent and the lights, and even the furniture in the tent. Part of her didn’t think she deserved any of this but she shoved those thoughts to the side as she turned and wrapped her arms around Joseph’s neck. “I can’t believe you did this.” She giggled before pressing her lips to his. “It’s beautiful.” 

Joe was a romantic at heart and he loved to show El just how much she meant to him, mostly because he didn’t think that anything he did would ever be enough. So this little outing was just a small token to show her that he meant absolutely everything he said. “I just want us to have a special night,” he said as her arms wrapped around him. Joe smiled, he was glad that she liked it, but this was just the beginning. 

He took her hand in his and led her into the tent. “I think we deserve a nice relaxing night, especially you, so go ahead and get comfortable.” He said looking down at the robe that he had left there for her. “I think a nice massage will help relax you, don’t you?”

Camping seemed like a good idea at the time. Both El and Joe had been under so much stress from the takeover and visitation week so they definitely needed a moment where they could just relax and unwind. Before going to pick Elizabeth up, Joe had gone out to the woods to set up the tent and putting in anything that they might need. 

“Keep your eyes closed, I promise we are almost there,” he said to his girlfriend as he guided her towards their tent. “Okay, you can open your eyes now.”

Wesley wished that his daughter had talked to them more. He wasn’t sure why his daughter didn’t call them often but he didn’t want to press the issue. He’d take as much as he could get. “Two years?” Wesley let out a breath and leaned back into his chair. It amazed him how much time had passed since him and his wife had even talked to Elizabeth. “Honestly, I feel like we’ve hardly done anything to help her grow in her life.” He explained to the Joseph. “She ran away at such a young age…” His voice trailed off and he shook his head then took another sip of his drink. “Is she still causing those earthquakes?”

Elizabeth walked out of the bathroom and when she glanced towards the bar, she noticed her dad talking to someone. Joseph. She had wanted to introduce him in a different way but of course, it hadn’t happened. Elizabeth walked slowly towards the bar, careful of her ribs that were still healing from the fight between her, Kristen, and Miles. “I see you two have met.” Elizabeth offered a smile between the two of them. “I really hope he hasn’t told you any embarrassing stories about me.” She leaned down and kissed Joseph’s forehead before sitting next to him. 

Joe could see the change in the man and while at first, he didn’t realize why such a change as they kept talking it became clear. He offered the older man a smile but no smile could make the man feel better and Joe didn’t think there was anything he could say that would make this better for him. “She was young, but she kept what you and your wife taught her,” Joe said hoping that somehow that would help him. “She has better control of her powers now, this place has really helped her.” 

A familiar voice entered his ears and Joe couldn’t help but smile. “We did, and actually I know all embarrassing stories now.” He joked. His hand went to hers and he gave it a gentle squeeze. “We were just talking about how amazing you are.”

“Well that’s good to know.” He said with a smile as he tapped his fingers on the counter. It was weird for him, being there and knowing that this was where Elizabeth had been for years now. He wondered why it took her so long to invite him and her mother to one of these get togethers. 

“Her boyfriend?” Wesley asked, his eyebrows raising slightly. He hadn’t even heard about this boy but then again, Elizabeth hardly phoned home. Wesley turned to fully face Joseph, eyeing him closely now. He looked decent and so far, he was nice. “Well it’s nice to meet you, Jospeh. I’m Wesley.” He held his hand out towards the other man. “I apologize. Elizabeth has told us very little about her life since we last saw her.” He said to Joseph. “How long have you been dating my daughter?”

“It is. Kinda makes us feel like we’re not missing out on much.” Joe shrugged. Though, apparently, not all felt that way seeing the current status of their town, not that the family members could see that seeing how TRP was making sure that all the families saw was a beautiful town. 

Joe smiled and nodded at the question. He understood why the man looked shocked and also understood why El wouldn’t have really talked about him with her parents. “It’s a pleasure to meet you in person.” He said shaking his hand. “No need to apologize, she probably just wanted to do it in person.” He suggested. Joe knew his girlfriend and he knew that she wasn’t big on oversharing. “Almost two years now. She’s an amazing woman, you and your wife should be proud.”

“Can they?” Wesley asked as his eyebrows raised. “I wasn’t sure. I mean I know this town is well developed but I didn’t know how similar it would be to the places where we live.” He admitted. Elizabeth hasn’t exactly told him much about the town or the people in it.

“I’ll have an old fashioned.” Wes said to the bartender before turning towards the young man. “You don’t have to pay for my drink. Especially since we don’t even know each other.” He chuckled and then held his hand out towards the other man. “I’m Wesley Zhang. My daughter is Elizabeth. The one who can create earthquakes.” He said, just in case the guy didn’t know who he was talking about. “Do you know her?”

“They actually keep up with a lot of the things that the ‘real’ world has.” Joe shrugged, or at least he believed that they did. Back when he arrived the town seemed to be pretty up to date on things. “Probably not exactly the same but a little similar to most towns.” He added. 

Joe smiled and shook his head, “no, no I insist to pay for it,” He said directing his attention to the bartender so that they knew not to charge El’s dad. The introduction might have gone better had Elizabeth done it, but he couldn’t not tell Wesley who he was. “It’s a pleasure to officially meet you, I’m Joseph Fender and I know your daughter very well, I’m her boyfriend.”

After a pleasant dinner with his wife and daughter, Wesley decided to stay at the restaurant to have a drink on his own. He knew that him and his family had to talk about the events that led up to Elizabeth running away, as well as everything that had happened afterwards. However, he wanted some time to himself first to mull over anything that could potentially happen. He was also exhausted from the plane flight and needed to decompress.

“Do they have any specialty drinks here?” He asked the person next to him. “If not, I guess I’ll just get a beer or something.” Wesley shrugged his shoulders as he glanced over to look at them.

Seeing his mom after so long had not been at all what Joe expected it to be. There were no tears or anger, it was more like no time had passed at all, but time had passed and that time also brought him a lot of pain and heartache that they needed to talk about. It would have to be another day though because his mother was tired and all Joe wanted was a drink.  

Joe turned around when he heard someone speaking to him and he immediately knew who the man was, Elizabeth’s father. The younger male straightened up and cleared his throat before speaking, this was certainly not the way he wanted to meet his girlfriend’s father. “I’m pretty sure that they can make any drink you might want,” Joe said with a shrug, He signaled for the bartender and ordered himself a beer. “Order what you want, it’s on me.” He said to the older man.

The Reunion { e & j }

Elizabeth didn’t like when he worried. She knew it was inevidable, especially with what Kristen and Miles had put her through, but she hated when things like this made him upset or even feel guilty. It wasn’t anyone’s fault and in her eyes, she had made it out without a scratch on her. Even though that wasn’t true.

“Just like you can’t help but worry about me, I can’t help but worry about you.” Elizabeth chuckled and then winced from the pain. The adrenaline was definitely wearing off and fast. Her eyes glassed over from his words. He was so genuine and loving she wondered how he was ever interested in her in the first place. “You helped me become strong. Without you and Daniel and Bianca, my power would still be out of control.” She reminded him. 

A small frown formed on her lips. She really didn’t want to go to the hospital. She knew she had to but she didn’t want to. She let out a soft sigh and nodded, reluctantly. “Okay we can go. But I want you to get evaluated too. I know you look fine but it’s only fair.” 

For so long Joe had hated Lake Grimstone, he felt like he didn’t belong there--he deserved a worse fate--and for so long he blamed himself for what had happened to Zoe, but the people of Lake Grimstone, especially Elizabeth, had helped him let go of the guilt. The two had helped each other so much and had only made each other stronger. 

“I guess that is fair.” He chuckled lightly. Joe wanted to push the anger felt away and just focus on Elizabeth and making sure that she was okay, but it was easier said than done. The girl meant to much to him and he couldn’t fathom the idea that someone would dare lay a finger on her, then again it had been Miles Hall and his equally unhinged girlfriend. 

Seeing her wince made his eyes softened and as if he wasn’t already close to her, he moved closer. “You did that, baby, all we did was believe in you.” It was true, all that they had done was believe that she could do it. He knew that it hadn’t been easy for her to believe in herself and it was there where he and the others had stepped in. 

Joe let out a low grumble but nodded. “Fine, I’ll get checked too.” He assured her. Joe took her hand and led them towards the exit of her place. As they walked towards the hospital he tried his best to keep his eyes straight ahead so that he didn’t see the destruction that TRP had caused, not that he could really avoid it. “We’re almost there.” He said to her and sure enough, after a few minutes, they arrived. His eyes widened as he saw just how many people had been injured. “Ms.” He said to the lady behind the desk, “my girlfriend needs to be checked.”

Have you ever been scared of Elizabeth? Why or why not?

Of course, I have. She might be small but I bet you she has a mean right hook. 

No, I have never been scared of my girlfriend. I know that you’re asking this because of her power, but honestly, I trust her completely and I know she’s stronger than she thinks she is.
