Hello there *waves* I was just wondering, how did you and Barnabas meet?
The ghost took a quick glace behind her, then returned her eyes to the stranger.

// I am going to try to make this as short as possible. Living in an abusive household with people who hate you sucks. They took away my computer and I’m not allowed to be on any other one. They also will not accept me roleplaying anymore. I don’t want to delete my blogs though. I don’t blame any of you for unfollowing me immediately. If I haven’t returned in a year(yes it will take that long, maybe longer) it means I’ve probably killed myself. So, because I’ll probably never get to say it…
Goodbye
Roleplaying with all of you has been one of the most fun and joyous experiences of my life. :) And I’m sorry I couldn’t do it with more of you.

The Corpse and the Ghost
cutmewithaknife
The ghostly maiden gasped. Josette was not expecting anyone else to be here. Josette’s wondering soul had wondered aimlessly into the land of the dead, a place she imagined she should have gone to long ago. What startled her appeared to a corpse, like any of the others in this world, yet something was different. The corpse seemed to be dressed in a wedding dress.
“Oh, I-I am terribly sorry.” She said finally in a shaky tone. “I did not mean to disturbed by your presence I just-, you gave me a bit of a fright is all.”
“Like we have connections to different ghosts somehow?” she asked. Though when she said it out loud two trains of thought came into her mind. The first was if that was true, why and how was she connected to Josette? She wasn’t blood related to her and she had never given her much thought honestly, and if she was connected to her, why had she never seen her before tonight? But the other, and more emotional, thought, was that if it were true, her brother had a connection to her mother that she didn’t.
At the thought her eyes grew sad but she thanked the heavens she never felt tears in them, shutting them for a moment before she cleared her throat. “Guess that means I’m connected to you but…I don’t understand how” she said. “I’m just…I’m sorry this is just so much to take in and I am freaking out a little bit” she said, pinching the bridge of her nose.
The ghost’s eyes squinted slightly as her light brows began to knit themselves together at Jillian’s words. The two of us, connected? Josette had never considered the fact that that might be the reason why certain people could see certain ghosts. She knew Victoria was her reincarnation, therefore she had a connection with her and was capable of seeing and speaking to her, but Josette could find nothing that would connect her to Jillian.
She tried not to let the confusion show on her face. It would not help in the situation with the young Collins, therefore, she took her eyes from the youth for a moment. It was a relief when Jillian spoke again. Josette neared her slowly and sighed sweetly before speaking.
“I understand this must be...difficult to comprehend. I too am rather troubled by it” she said. “Although, I suppose you have the upper hand when it comes to who should be more frightened by it” Josette said humorously, offering a warm smile. The ghost had moved beside the girl, rather than remaining in front of her, but she still kept a gap between them, careful not to scare her. Josette glanced down at the steps. Jillian’s book was still lying there from when she had made her drop it a few moments ago. The ghost felt a little embarrassed for making her do so. She would have gladly picked it up and handed back to Jillian with an graphology, but as a ghost, she couldn’t. “Oh-I...I am sorry about your book.”
The ghost waited and watched with concern in her eyes. Upon Jillian’s words, Josette was on the verge of disappearing; so that if she did scream, anyone that would have rushed to her aid would not discover Josette. She could see the shakiness in the young Collins’s movements. Josette thought that her reaction was a bit strange; considering the fact that her brother constantly speaks of ghosts, and it is no surprise when something strange happens within the walls of Collinwood.
A deep relieving feeling washed over Josette at Jillian’s questions. It assured her that Jillian would not be difficult about the matter. The ghost maiden smiled sweetly before answering.
“I am Josette, Josette DuPres. Surely you have seen my portrait in the grand entryway.” She paused, trying to maintain her smile. The next question had touched a defunct nerve. Josette took a breath and realized, sooner or later, it would have to come to this. “Why, I am a ghost, dear one. A lost soul or spirit, if you will? I died almost two-hundred years ago. I am sure your aunt has told you of my tragic…accident.” A silence fell. Josette hated when situations like this occurred, not to her of course, but moments such as these were plentiful in the Collins’ household. She decided to address the thought that was probably running through Jillian’s head.
“You are not crazy, my dear, nor is your brother. I am as real as you are. And, I can assure you that I can do you no harm.”
When the woman gave her name she looked over her shoulder, though she knew very well she could not see the painting from here. “You were engaged to Barnabas Collins back in the day” she stated, more as if explaining it to herself than to the lost soul. And when she mentioned her accident she nodded “Yes she did. You…you jumped from the cliff, rumored to be under the spell of an evil witch” she said.
Without much permission, any really, she slowly walked up to the see through woman. She didn’t look much older than herself, which she noted as she slowly reached out and attempted to touch her, her fingers going right through her. She gasped softly though never jumped or ran away. She looked up at her face, almost sadly “You’re dead” she whispered.
She pulled her hand back, standing stiffly. “why can I see you?” she asked. “Does this mean David really can see things? That I can see things?”
Josette gasped lightly, presenting a slight smile, as Jillian recalled the tale of her death. Not something one would smile about when hearing, but Josette always thought that Angelique had convinced everyone that she committed suicide. It was a relief to know the truth was, somewhat, present in this century. She replied with a nod.
Her former thoughts, about Barnabas returned to her, at the mention of his name. “Yes, I...was” the ghost sighed. Her translucent lips parted slowly to speak, but as she raised her head, Josette was slightly taken to the girl had come so close to her. She knew what was to happen next. The ghostly maiden’s blue eye fell on Jillian’s hand, with gentleness and sorrow, as the girl reached through her. Upon Jillian’s next words, Josette was insure if she was asking her, or merely speaking to herself.
“It is as I said before, you are not crazy.” She paused and looked at the girl in thought for a moment. Should I mention your mother? Josette wondered. Perhaps not. She might think I have seen her, which I haven’t. But, it is still a mystery to me why David can and her and you can’t. Josette shook away the thought and decided to just go along with whatever Jillian thought, for now.
“I do not know. It is strange that young master David can see ghosts, but you can not. Although, David and I have never made contact, so perhaps it is only particular ghosts?”
The ghost was now only a foot away from Jillian. She was prepared to be walked through at any moment, but was just as startled, as the girl, to realized their eyes had met. Josette gasped at the others word, then quickly slapped her hands over her mouth. It would be a disaster if she said her famous words, “Help me.” There was still a possible chance she could be mistaken for Victoria, and would not perish the chance by letting that out. Silence, on the other hand, was not the wisest coarse of action either.
Josette lowered her hands from her mouth. With an uncomfortable swallow, she held a hand out to her. “Please, do not scream, you will wake your family.” She said with pleading eyes. “You have no need to be afraid.” She would say no more until Jillian respond. Josette did not think that Jillian would mistake her for Victoria, at least not for very long, but the ghost decided it was best to stay clear of the subject.
I should not have taken the risk, she thought. To use David’s sheet, as I had done before, might have been wiser. The ghost tried to examine the girl, without making it obvious that’s what she was doing. You look just like your mother. A faint smile spread across her pale face, at the thought.
Jillian had slapped her hand over her mouth to keep from screaming, though she wasn’t sure why she was listening to the woman speaking, if it was still a woman. “I-I think it would be in my best interest to scream” she said, almost shakily.
She lowered her trembling hand and swallowed thickly, staring at, or really through, the other woman. “W-Who are you? W-What are you?” she corrected herself.
The ghost waited and watched with concern in her eyes. Upon Jillian’s words, Josette was on the verge of disappearing; so that if she did scream, anyone that would have rushed to her aid would not discover Josette. Dress Gabriella Pescucci. 1993.
This incredible dress is a costume for the film ‘The Age of Innocence’ (1993), directed by Martin Scorsese. Age of innocence is set in the Victorian era, during the 1870’s and this costume was worn by Michelle Pfeiffer. (Unfortunately I couldn’t find a decent screen cap of her wearing it.) The costume it’s self was designed by Gabriella Pescucci. She has also designed costumes for The Scarlet Letter (1995), Les Misérables (1998), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1999), Van Helsing (2004), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), The Brothers Grimm (2005), Beowulf (2007), Agora (2009) & The Borgias (TV series 2011)(5 episodes, 2011-2012) along with many other movies. “Oh, but of course. I shall take you wherever you like.” Barnabas promised her, smiling brightly. It had been awhile since he felt this happy, and she had only just arrived. The future looked bright for Collinwood indeed.
She was silent as Barnabas showed her to her room. Gleaming eyes and a smile were present on Josette’s face, as she listened to Barnabas speak, of the history, of each item they passed. She was glad that he did the talking, for the light-haired maiden was in too much awe, of the elegance, of her knew home.
When they arrived at a closed door, Josette’s gasped with joy. She knew that he had lead her to the room that would be hers. Josette tried not to get ahead of herself. It was only proper that she let him go first and show into the room. Nonetheless, with a wide grin, she turned to Barnabas. “Is this it?” She asked excitedly.
Life s a Collins was stressful, no doubt about it, for Jillian especially. With a rat bastard for a father, a little brother that everyone thought was crazy, a dead mother and a reputation for having no friends- life wasn’t that great. And then things got even worse when their so called uncle Barnabas showed up out of no where, which didn’t sit right with her. Her aunt was just going along with it so normally, yet was acting so strange. And if she ever asked her about it she just avoided the subject and moved it to something else. She didn’t like the lying or the secrets, Aunt Liz was always very open and honest with her, but now things were changing and she didn’t like it.
In times like this, when life didn’t feel right, Jillian her best to escape. Which for Jillian, meant either stuffing her nose into a book or hiding in work all day. Well she was already half way there, since she had been going over paper work for the reopening of the family factory all day for her aunt and now as she walked slowly up the stairs, one hand on the railing, the other held her favorite book-Alice in Wonderland. The book had become worn from being read so many times and even more, as she scanned over words she had practically memorized, she still felt like an innocent child.
When she finally made it to the top of the stairs she began down the hall towards her bedroom. She could swear she saw something up in front of her as she walked, deciding to see if David had wandered out of bed in his cut up sheet again. She made note of where on the page she left off and looked up, only for her eyes to widen in shock and fear. The book slid from her hands without fear and she stumbled back, eyes locked on the see through woman who looked much too much like her brother’s new nanny. “Oh my god” she breathed.
The ghost was now only a foot away from Jillian. She was prepared to be walked through at any moment, but was just as startled, as the girl, to realized their eyes had met. Josette gasped at the others word, then quickly slapped her hands over her mouth.
