Headcanon - Josh is the worry-wart of his and Lily's relationship. He is constantly stressing that she eats too much junk and has taken to hiding veg in her meals. He also got his first grey hairs at the age of 17 after seeing Lily on her motorbike for the first time.

Sometimes but more so when I was younger. At St. Adams we had all these kids with cool ass powers like shooting fire from their hands or reading minds and there I was, hovering above the ground like a moron. I guess I kind of just wished for a more interesting ability, something that could protect the people I care about.

I can understand that. When me and Josh got together, he was the popular jock with at least 20 girls hanging off every word he said. No one understood why he chose me. Many still don’t.

That's not really how it works, Isa.
Pizza is a modern food, I doubt you would of been able to try it. And you call the restaurant or whatever and they send a guy with the pizza to your house so you don't have to go and get it yourself.

I feel so stupid.
I know that it isn’t at all what she would have wanted. Ella was not inclined toward violence, and certainly not at the expense of people she cared about. But I can’t afford to approach the situation from that mindset. Much as I want to honor her memory by doing as she would have me do, I lost her forever, Josh, and I can’t let things lie and risk the same thing happening to the ones I have left. My family is everything to me, and losing one has already left me feeling as though a limb has been ripped off my body and I’ve been shuffling around bleeding all over everything I touch.
Do you want to know what I keep coming back to? How completely furious you were with me when they were taken. How I had been completely shocked into inaction and didn’t even express concern over the others they were taking out in chains. The guilt from that party has haunted me. But doing something now is my chance. Not just for my family, either. This is my chance to make sure those other prisoners can sleep at night, knowing that they won’t wake to find themselves being taken back into custody. This is for all of the families, every last one in Brookhaven. They deserve to have their safety and security returned to them for good, and that isn’t going to happen unless we take a stand.
And how do you think your family will feel when they lose you? Because they will, Jenny. There is no way you or any of the others are going to be able to stand against the Council. They're our rulers for a reason, they're more powerful, more strategic, you' be dead within minutes. You all would be.
I'm sorry Jenny but it's too late now. You know I value you as a friend but my family means everything to me and I cannot let you and your crazy ideas of justice put them in harms way. I think you need to think of your wife and your son, Jenny. Don't they deserve to have you? Happy and alive? I understand that Ella was your family and I'm sorry about what has happened but don't make Susie and that little boy go through what you are right now.

Did your grandparents ever tell you the motto of this place that they used to get us to come here during the war? ‘Brookhaven, our haven.' But it isn't, not anymore. The Council are here to protect us, but now they are killing us, we are being captured and murdered by those who we are supposed to trust the most. Is this really the kind of place you want children growing up in? The kind of place you want our child growing up in? How are you going to feel if the next person they decide is too dangerous is Sofia? She already has so much power, Josh, and she’s so young. How are you going to feel when you have to explain to her that she’s being taken away because we didn’t fight for her, because we didn’t fight for Ella? This is not okay! If we don’t make a stand it’s just going to continue and I’m sorry, but I cannot and will not stand by and watch that happen.

How can you not see that? The Council will rip everyone apart and then spit on our graves. I am not prepared to be passive anymore, not with this. I will not have you throwing away your life for this! And how am I supposed to explain why mommy isn't here to sing her to sleep anymore? That mommy didn't love us enough because she couldn't stand back, just this once? We'll run if we have to Lily. I keep expecting Ella to just pop up out of nowhere and ask why we're all so upset and tell us it was all just some weird joke but I know she's not going to. I know, I didn't know her as well as some people but she was my friend and I am honored that I ever got to call her that.
And with that in mind, I have to say that I agree with Brandon. Do you think this is what Ella would want? You guys charging off on some battle in her name? No. I'm not saying you're not capable but the council are way more powerful than us, they always have and they always will be. You're going to get yourselves killed. You're going to leave your children parent-less and I'm going to be here trying to explain to them what the fuck happened. Ella was a sweet girl and yes it is horrendous that she was taken from us but she wouldn't want this.

Christmas break plus an extra week or so is over, as much as I tried to drag it out, and with only a few… slip-ups, I need to embrace the real world again. Why do I feel like I missed something terrible whilst I was gone? Is everybody safe?
