THANKS FOR THE ART. <3<3<3
Mer turns her eye away from Sil proper and instead look to a tree off to the side of the Miqo’te. She find Sil’s offering to hiding his condition distasteful. Of course, this is merely the surface of the matter. Mer can very well understand the logic the Paladin is using. A Warrior of Light with an obvious contradiction? There will be uproars, there will be questions, Sil would no doubt be watched and followed more then before. She crossed her arm in a clear indication of exasperation and dug her clawed fingers into her arms, sharp nails bites into worn leather.
/Coward/
The Summoner scoffs at the other’s attempt at flattery. As if she was someone of higher intelligence and an expert of the subject matter. If someone as unimportant as her able to see the problem, how many had already know this issue? How many had already research into it? Will the information yield by the unknown harmful or beneficial? Obviously he wasn’t seeing the bigger picture. He was slowly becoming a liability.
“Help?” She growled, finding such an idea laughable. “I am not an expert.”
“Tell them.” Mer replied, withdrawing her hand once she is satisfied that the Dawn One is soothed by the gesture. “State your feelings plainly.”
Or rather, in her own case, Mer can do nothing but but to state her feelings plainly. Eorzean script is a second language. She still struggles with it’s use daily. It was not a rare occurrence for people to simply not understand what Mer is trying to express. For that reason, and that reason only, Mer would want Kohaku to be forward. Language is already complicated. Unlike the Hymmos she grew up with, the Eorzean script allows no room for emotion. It’s words and tones dead, which allows things like deceit and lies to take root. It was a hindrance and Mer loath this aspect of the language with a passion.
“Just like that, huh?” Kohaku deadpanned, a small smile on her lips, “Maybe… I’ll do that. It’s the only way to get a straight forward answer~”
While she of course, had every intention on carrying out this confession, she still had no idea when she was going to do it. The thought of possible rejection was still making her anxious, but somehow, Mer had given her more reassurance than anyone so far.
Mer nodded, satisfied that she is able to help the Dawn One regain her confidence.
“Instead of card games, I can help you with this?” Mer offered, her own reserved nature make understanding Kohakur’s current plight a little better. Bearing one’s feeling to the world is a daunting task. Besides, it would be that first small step in replaying the Dawn One for her forgiveness and patience.
Like for a starter.
I hate solitude, but I am afraid of intimacy. The substance of my life is a private conversation with myself which to turn into a dialogue would be equivalent to self-destruction.
Iris Murdoch, Under the Net (via books-n-quotes)
Full Name: Mer of Yhah’li Tribe
Gender and Sexuality: Female / Demisexual
Pronouns: She / Her
Ethnicity/Species: Au Ra / Xaela
Birthplace and Birthdate: Othardian Steppe - In the Mountain Area / 17th Sun of the 6th Astral Moon
Guilty Pleasures: - Napping for prolong period of time under the sun. - Singing and composing Hymns; even when she is unable to attribute power to them. She is embarrassed of this skill because she is not a very good lyric composer and most of her works are simply wordless melodies. She also does not know how to write scores so most of what she create is kept within her head. - A collection of various minerals and stones. From the most common mud stone to a little unpolished sapphire.
Phobias: Mer does not have a condition that would categorize her with a phobia. Fears: Mer fears being trapped in one place for a prolong period of time. When she was living with the Qillas, her days was spent either fighting in small skirmishes or meditation. Fighting was the only time she left the small cavern that was allotted to her. The Qillas had not accepted her into the tribe proper due to her weak aptitude with Hymmos, a song magic that all Qillas use in their various daily lives. She was reticulated and shunned for the better part of her younger years until she was asked to leave. She took the chance and left. Mer feels that if she stays in one place too long, the Qillas would one day drag her back into the tribe and bind her into their war until her dying breath.
What They Would Be Famous For: Mer would probably be famous for being the most well traveled adventurer. Getting in and out of unbelievable places and finding all sorts of hidden artifacts.
What Have They / Would They Gotten Arrested For: Mer would probably be most likely be arrested for assault. She prone to lash out with she gets uncomfortable and that is probably around 80% of the time she spend around anyone. On the bright side, she’s great in a bar fight.
OC(s) You Ship Them With: There is not a canon ship. I secretly have a few ships that it’s pretty embarrassing to mention.
OC Most Likely To Murder Them: None as of this moment.
Favorite Book Genre: History, Culture, and Geology.
Least Favorite Book Cliche: “And the Princess was saved by the Prince.”
Talents and/or Powers: - She is very good at fading into the background because of the time she spent out in the wilderness and her nature to be inconspicuous as possible. Even with ridiculous outfits. - She is able use Hymmos to a limited degree. Mostly simple chants to aid her in her spell castings. - Because of how the AuRa hear differently from the rest of the current race, she is able to discern the differences in aetherflow. Which is very helpful when someone is either under thrall or possessed by a voidsent. Or other aether related aliment.
Why Someone Might Love Them: Why wouldn’t you love a woman who is insecure, skittish, and blunt? Just Kidding. Mer is the type of person if she loves, she will love deeply. Once you manage to calm her and provide a stable ground for her to flourish, she would dedicate her whole being to her chosen partner. For good or ill, Mer had very little that she can call her own. If someone was able to show her affection and prove to her that they are sincere about their feelings, she would in return give her all to the other. It matters not to Mer if the other person is doing good or evil so long as they are happy and is willing to stay with her. So long as her presence will not cause her significant other grief Mer would establish a permanent home to return to and probably spoil her partner with a lot of food, curious trinkets, and affection.
Why Someone Might Hate Them: On the flip side, Mer is very naive and ignorant of many things. Being from somewhere outside of Eorzea and her years spent journeying by herself had hamper her communication skills severally. Therefore there are many social etiquette that she might miss or outright ignore. Mer is also fairly short tempered when push come to shove. She is more willing to act before planning, a trait born from being in constant war. Because it takes her time to figure out what to say, sometimes people simply assumed she is slow. Regardless of which ever viewpoint you have, Mer simply does not communicate unless she is prompted in part due to her skittish nature and in part due to her lack of communication skills. Someone have to be very patient with her for her to open up.
That is also not getting into her very brutal viewpoint regarding warfare. She fights dirty, using anything within reach to beat and defeat her enemy. There are no enjoyable play fights. A battlefield for her is literally to do or to die. Those who are weak will die, and those who are strong will live. It does not matter if you are enemy or friend. If you are weak, stay out of the field. She will not protect your back when you get overwhelmed.
How They Changed: Mer have not change yet because I haven’t rp her with many people on tumblr. I’m going to leave the changes up to the partner I RP with because there is many ways she can go and I want to explore them all.
Why You Love Them: To me Mer is a very flawed individual who is very much shaped by the unfortunate childhood she lived. Mer is trying her best to shake off the shackle which her past had cast on her, but she never seems to manage it. She clings to the Qilla heritage like a security blanket even if that very same value had cost her so much grief as a child. She wants to belong, she wants to be loved, but she doesn’t dare let herself to hope because she is scared of having that mental image of something better shattered. But the dream is already shattering. Eorzea is not accepting of her physical appearance as Mer was led to believe. The Scions probably was the only good thing that had happen to her in a long time. She is stuck wavering between loving herself and rejecting herself. I love imperfect characters who is struggling so hard to do something even if they lapse back into their bad habits from time to time. Most of all, I love and admire people who knows they are bad and is openly facing their mistakes and trying to better themselves. Mer is not quite there yet, but I hope one day she will be.

It seems like her question had strike a nerve. Kohaku’s cheerful composition fell flat before Mer’s eyes. The Dawn One had always been quick with her expression. It seems Kohaku can not help but to put out her feelings for the world to see. It was mayhaps a grace of the Dusk Mother that Kohaku does not dealt with work that requires composure. A foresight foreseen by Master Urianger it seems.
“Why are you certain?” Mer pressed, unrelenting in her ways, prevent Kohaku from dropping the subject completely. It was not certain, but the Xaela have a hunch that Kohaku had never raise the issue with the other party themselves. The sentiment baffles Mer to an extent, but now is not the time to question Kohaku’s method.
Kohaku’s composure was nearly gone at this point, “B-because! It’s embarrassing! A-and there are prettier ladies. Ones that are probably more suitable…!”
She sighed deeply, knowing that those were all just empty excuses and that Mer would more than likely see right through them, “I guess what I mean to say is that I’m scared.” she muttered truthfully. Kohaku was a little envious of Mer now that she thought about it. The woman seemed to be able to say whatever was on her mind without any regrets.
Like Kohaku had suspected, Mer had indeed not consider the words she spoken as reasons.
“But you have not talk to the other person.” The Summoner states, watching the Dawn One worry herself into oblivion. Hesitatingly, Mer reaches out and place her hand on top of Kohaku’s head. A gesture of good will that the Xaela had saw a mother used to clam her child. Kohaku was not child, but she needs to be soothed. Mer does not know any other way.
“The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.” Mer quotes, a passage she read once when she was studying under the tutelage of the Arcanist Guild. It was something she had not understand at the time. It was only through watching the Warrior of Light had the sentence began to make sense. In truth, Mer herself still struggles with the concept in practice, but the concept is a worth while note to pass on. From one.... peer to another.
“And.” Mer paused, not sure if she can explain ‘love’ without experience it firsthand. But Kohaku’s distress urge her tongue to speak, and Mer offers her meager knowledge to the other. “Like how you can not predict the path of a water drop, you can not predict the path which love can take. I doubt the sincerity of the cards you speak. ”
It was the most she had spoken in a while. The monotones she try to mimic give away to trailing notes.

The only words out of Kohaku’s mouth that Mer had understood was mayhaps event and Limsa. She had not heard of House of Valentione nor can she fathom how they can use cards to see the future. Nevertheless, Mer nodded in agreement, finding nothing better she can suggest in return.
“I do not see why the process would be tempered. They do not gain anything from doing so.” The Summoner states plainly, finding the idea foolhardy.
“If that is so, then maybe my bad luck is worse than I thought.” Kohaku sighed dramatically, “Hopefully, something good will come out of this.”
“Or…” a sly grin began to appear, “Perhaps the cards will tell us that you are my true soul mate~~” Kohaku was only teasing. The teen couldn’t help her naturally mischievous nature it seemed.
“Are you in love?” Mer asked instead. The Dawn One tone did suggested that the answer she had seek was not offered by those cards. May it be love or fortune, it was apparent however that Kohaku’s tone had carried yearning. She might be blinded to this thing call love, but in her short stay amongst Eorzea, Mer had find such an emotion run common. It might be a long shot, but if Mer can help even a little, she might start on filling the gap that she herself had dug.

It was with relieve that Kohaku pulled away, the contact was strangely warm, but the effect was ruined by her raw instinctive to pull away. Mer looked levelly at the other, not exactly know what to say beyond the bare basic. She had worked with Kohaku for moons, yet to start up a basic conversation was lost upon the Xaela. Letting the Dawn One express her strange need to apologizes, Mer nodded, letting Kohaku know that she understood and she was not too bothered by what had transpire prior.
“I was informed I should take you out on a ‘date’.” Mer comment instead, push onward despite her own uncertainty on the matter. “But I do not know what a ‘date’ is.”
“O-oh!” Kohaku tilted her head in thought as she tried to think of the best way to explain the concept of a date to Mer. This was going to be interesting.
“Well… Usually a date is between two people who are romantically interested in each other.” she started, “It’s pretty much what people do for this celebration that they call Valentione’s Day. But, friends can go on dates too I think. It’s like a form of bonding.” Kohaku hoped she had explained it well enough. She wasn’t too well informed on how Valentione’s was celebrated either, but she knew she had enjoyed herself so far.
“Romantically?” Mer echoed, recalling it’s definition. She have difficulty understanding the practice. The Qilla had arrange marriage, those who are strong are paired with the strong while the weak married the weak. It was a carefully structured practice. Those who disobeyed face dire consequences.
“I wish to bond with you.” She muttered, finding Kohaku’s explanation troubling. Was the scions playing a practical joke on her then? It would not been the first time she had be mislead by her peer’s jest. “I do not think I am romantically interested.”
