Bragdon — architect, theosophist, scenery designer and writer — wrote several books on four-dimensional geometry (as well as yoga, women and architecture, among other topics.) These two books in particular have left a deep and meaningful impression on me, so much so that I titled an exhibition after one of them. No longer under copyright, they have recently been available in two forms: an early edition or a cheap facsimile with a generic cover. The former can be scarce and expensive, and the latter fails to consider Bragdon’s aesthetic choices. These re-publications are my attempt to honor Bragdon’s artistry while making these special books accessible to more people.

enjoying the view.
A sequel to Kadath Fatal, Fatal Kadath Fatal takes up a slower pace in narration. Conceived as a leporello the book gathers a succession of 18 drawings that circle around one single motive: Two conical hennins glide along through space. Only light and contrast change, and the veils of the cornets take up peculiar shapes despite the supposed absence of gravity and friction. On the will of their own the conical hennins return in their present form as a medley of elements from former works by Bohl.
The title of the book is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath (1926/27), an epic tale that examines the realm of human dreams by combining elements of horror and fantasy.

10 Recurring Actions of 2015
1. Always looking for the best in people, but also... 2. Being able to say "fuck that guy" 3. Apologizing sincerely, and not as filler 4. Traveling with flexibility and fluidity 5. Dancing (vigorously) alone 6. Staying creative without deadlines, money, or external validation as motivation 7. Accepting myself and others without as much criticism 8. Communicating directly 9. Figuring out how and what to let go in order to grab on to new things and experiences 10. Enjoying the present, and worrying less about the future I read a lot of Joan Didion while traveling alone this year (and not in a morose way)... this sums up nicely how I feel looking back: “I'm not telling you to make the world better, because I don't think that progress is necessarily part of the package. I'm just telling you to live in it. Not just to endure it, not just to suffer it, not just to pass through it, but to live in it. To look at it. To try to get the picture. To live recklessly. To take chances. To make your own work and take pride in it. To seize the moment. And if you ask me why you should bother to do that, I could tell you that the grave's a fine and private place, but none I think do there embrace. Nor do they sing there, or write, or argue, or see the tidal bore on the Amazon, or touch their children. And that's what there is to do and get it while you can and good luck at it.”

The Terrible Rain: The War Poets 1939-45
50 Impressions of 2014
1. Autonomy and independence shouldn't be taken for granted or comprosmised, ever.
2. Noise, 303s, and 808s forever.
3. Just say no to after hours.
4. Great friendships take a balance of effort and letting go.
5. Ben Klock at Public Works got me to stay out long enough to use a public restroom. It rejuvenated my love for techno.
6. Four Tet Boiler Room was great, but the Terrace parties at SXSW were the highlight. A small group of friends with excellent taste in music trumps big parties any day.
7. Derek Plaslaiko’s 12 hour Boiler Room set is impressive. A truly great DJ will get you to fall in love with songs you wouldn't have even considered liking.
8. American English sounds flat and ugly in comparison to the sing-song tones in French.
9. Buyer’s remorse exists in a pair of trousers from Helmut Lang.
10. Dating is a fun social experiment and shouldn't be taken seriously.
11. Dancing to Todd Terje is mandatory.
12. My favorite label of 2014: Modern Love. Andy Stott + Demdike Stare made 1015 dark and enjoyable.
13. The goth rivethead within me still lives in Recondite, Gesaffelstein, Cut Hands, Gazelle Twin, HTRK, Black Rain, Byetone etc.
14. I am the same I ever was, but with more specificities.
15. Playing everyday and experimenting heavily informs the way I work and live.
16. I have been unintentionally sober for about 5 years.
17. Grudges waste too much time; anger wastes too much energy.
18. I will not intentionally stalk people and compare myself - not because I’m that good of a person, but because I am that willful to subordination and unreasonable jealousy feels shitty.
19. A good coat and nice pair of shoes can make an entire outfit. That said, I can live in black pumps and Nikes forever.
20. Math and power tools make for good sculptures.
21. Horchata is the bomb.
22. Running an online shop is fun; marketing and trying to sell yourself is not.
23. Skydiving is painfully loud, but the view is beautiful.
24. I love LA, but don't want to move back... yet or maybe never. The Bay is finally starting to feel like home.
25. Just because I work well with someone doesn't mean that I should date them; just because I date someone, doesn’t mean that I will work well with them.
26. I love house music.
27. FKA Twigs reinvented sexy.
28. “Tired” is only in the mind.
29. Trying to master anything (like running) takes a lot of practice; knowing that and being patient helps the journey.
30. Matisse cut outs are magnificently human and playful; Calder made rugs and they're beautiful; Ahn Hyun Chul’s light installations are flawless. I've been over context free street art for awhile.
31. Inviting strangers out to do random things (jumping on trampolines, marathoning concerts, pretending to be rich art collectors) can be seen as superficial, but it is exhilarating. I have learned about others and myself in these one-off encounters.
32. Audium is uncomfortable psychedelics for the ears.
33. If you're on the ledge, step off, walk away, and never look back.
34. I am non-confrontational when I don't feel like a relationship is worth it.
35. Skincare is difficult, expensive, but essential.
36. Reading in bed with cats on a Friday night can be more thrilling than going to a club until 3 with people I barely know; playing the “would you rather” game has been crucial in terms of satisfactory time management.
37. Hosting dinner parties aren't as much of a hassle as most people think and rewarding when the guests are diverse.
38. Shooting guns and arrows are less scary than originally anticipated.
39. Tech bus protests happened… no comment.
40. Star Seeds cherry pie and Parisian apple tartin will haunt me forever.
41. Reading and reacting to a combative body while sparring is humbling.
42. Nils Frahm's “Says” will make me cry the way James Blake’s “Retrograde” made me cry.
43. The color white is almost as good as the color black.
44. My favorite spots for vinyl this year: Phonica + Spitalfields + Rough Trade.
45. I enjoy the look of fresh cut flowers and I love how they look when they are dying.
46. Uni + Quail Egg + Ankimo + shiso is a fat flavor combination that is unbeatable.
47. Moving over to iTunes Radio/Beats Music has been a wonderful change and the new team has been beyond inspiring in terms of finding new music and similar (left of center) interests.
48. Shooting back to a plank from an arm balance is possible with enough core strength.
49. Facing the truth and letting go are easier done than said.
50. I love myself without apologies; I love myself the most.
