Today we Finnished the mushroom walk by mounting the boards and posters on the posts
It’s a really fun walk and managed to find some mushrooms myself!
there is a bunch of wasp nests in Dulwich Upper Wood
I’ve made signs to warn people about the nests
When the queen has no more need for the workers they have to leave the hive Confused and jobless the workers can become erratic!
Field management
Rebecka lead a talk all about the different types of field management
i fond this very interesting and made lots of notes
we then got toalt how to use the power syith!
leadership training
Rebecka lead a leadership training day
we had a talk about how to be a good leader
and did practical workshops like in the photo above
The wild in the woods workshops where is success!
We had so many little ones pass through joining in the workshops
We had build your own mini woodlands, drawing and mini beast hunts
It was so good to teach little kids again I’ve really missed it
Me on Wes Finnished our first aid training
It was really interesting and I feel like I will  confidently know how to handle a situation that need a first aid  response
I left my first corporate volunteer group with Laurie
It was so fun and interesting and a totally different dynamic from the regular volunteer groups I’ve been helping with
Me and Laurie worked very well as a team and took it in turns supporting the volunteers
We got lots more done than we thought we were going to I think this is because we had a good rapport with the volunteers and they genuinely were excited about the impact they were having in the park
Michael dropped off lots of logs from lavender Ponds
These are going to be used for the big 100 volunteer corporate day
we had Jon best the ecologist visit today
we went for a walk around the woodland and pointed out a few problems that need dealing with
like the sutty bark dessies witch has infected all sycamores in the woodland and seeing how is best to manage this problem
I did my first bat survey at DUW last night!
we managed to see 3 bats!
2 pipistrelle and a singel soprano pipistrelle
looking forward to doing this more now that i have my own detector
i lead my own volunteer session at duw
it was so successful
i planed to put up 3 signs that i had made prier
however everyone got stuck in and managed to put up 8 signs!
we all had a really good time and are existed for the next session
i loved helping janki with the pond dipping workshop last week
i got to get up close with the public and teach them everything i have learnt from the wild skills training so far
ive been invited back next week, im existed to see how tony teaches as i image the session will have a total different feel
Me and Wes helped out at loyde park today helping to deliver arts projects and surveys with young people
It was all butterfly themed as we were helping to spread the word about the big butterfly count put on by the butterfly conservation trust
today i had a chach up with joe and a refresher coures on dragonfly damselfly and butterfly
i feel i can tell the difference between the whites butterflys, and had joe comferm my spottings at duw
