Pascoe’s Engine Houses
So today after a recommendation from a friend I took a trip to Pascoe's Engine Houses. Its an amazing place to get a feel for the history of the area and its heritage. Theres a little lane to park up in and walk up, great to take the dog for a walk if you have one, and best of all its free!
These were taken on my Huawei P20 Pro today whilst my wife was paddle boarding. I couldn't believe what a beautiful day it was being January. The water temperature was 11c and the sea was really calm. So don't just wait until the summer, head down to Cornwall whenever you get a chance.
My favourite place to eat.
If I am in Hayle and hungry then theres no place better to eat than Salt www.salt-hayle.co.uk. It has a fantastic selection of drinks, locally sourced food and coffee and is dog friendly. Theres a great atmosphere day and night, most mornings you find people with their dogs enjoying breakfast, coffee and a good book with chilled beats in the background. In the evenings its a little more lively with some evenings having live music and DJ’s. The staff are amazing, very friendly and all local so have a great knowledge of the area if your looking for advice on places to visit.
How to visit Cornwall for as little as £9.50!!
Yes you read that right. At the moment the Sun is doing its Sun Hols for £9.50 per person. Now for those that know me they would of thought I would of never have stayed in a caravan lol. Let me tell you Ive done these a few times and the accommodations have been brilliant. I will admit its never cost me £9.50 but its never cost me a lot. The key is to book the £9.50 holiday and then upgrade it to the max! If theres `4 of you then say theres 6 to get the extra room, that only costs you an extra £19 and then upgrade the caravan to a deluxe. A week in May cost me £180. Always book the Haven resorts in my opinion as they seem to be the best and offer the most facilities. The best ones are Haven Riviera Sands near Hayle and Haven Perran Sands at Perranporth. Both sites are right on the beach and offer sea views. Your Welcome!! lol
St Michael’s Mount. One of Cornwalls must see landmarks, when the tide goes out it reveals the brick path for you to walk across. On the island theres the castle and the gardens to walk around, Its £16 to tour them both and £40 for a family ticket but again free to national trust members which also gives you free car parking.
Crantock Beach!! A great beach to visit, I think this place is a hidden gem but I maybe wrong. It was ever so quiet when we went, its a huge beach with good car parking facilities. It has an inlet which flows right up into the village, the waters are crystal clear but be careful as it creates really strong currents when the tide is going in and out.
The Amazing Perranporth beach! This place is the best and has become the most popular beach in Cornwall. It looks like the tropics with its beautiful turquoise waters and stunning rock formations. Theres a medium sized carpark there, again about £6 per day in the summer, great toilet and changing facilities and 3 amazing cafe/restaurants. Summer House restaurant is well worth a visit with amazing views as it sits right on the beach. The shops around the village are worth a walk around also, theres some great surf shops and a really great art gallery called Far & Wild featuring local Cornish artists, a favourite of ours being Kerry Harding. If your going in the summer holidays please be aware there maybe queues of around 40 minutes to get in and out.
Godrevy Beach and Light House, my favourite place to go no matter what the weather. The scenery is just beautiful with rugged rocks to climb, beautiful sand to play on, the light house to view and some days 20 - 40 seals just sunning themselves on the beach. A bit further down by the cafe the surfing is amazing to watch and enjoy a coffee. This is another national trust site, its £6 to park all day or £6 a month to join the national trust which lets you into all their sites for free!
Chapel Porth Beach Cornwall. A beautiful spot for walks and mountain biking. The few times we've been the tide has been in so the beach has been a bit rocky. We have spotted seals in the bay though which is always a nice surprise. The carpark is run by the national trust so if your a member its free to park, there is also a lovely little cafe hut where you can order food from and hot drinks (hot chocolate was amazing). Looking forward to a warmer visit in the summer.
