Restoring Houses! Sometimes you find a surface house and just itch to see what it looked like before The Apocalypse. No, never had that itch? Well this is how you do so anyway.! Step One: The first step is to find the house. Duh! Once you have found it then it is a good idea to take some pics of it. Like so. Although the fancy stitching is not needed. This is so that you can see where the blocks are in-case you make a mistake... and so that you can marvel at the difference.

Step Two: Then, pick one type of backdrop and mine all of it in that area. Eg. Picking the Wallpaper on the bottom floor. Then, place it all back down again. If you get stumped as to where to place the backdrop then refer to the image you took in the previous step. Repeat for all the backdrops. But do not mine any furniture or lights. Then go around and repeat the process for the blocks. Now mine all the furniture and lights and mine the backdrop behind them. Some people like to leave it at this stage. Believing this to be a far as you should go. If you would like to see more however then proceed to the next page.

Step Three: For this step the first thing you do is run around placing all the furniture and lights that you mined in the previous step. If you forget where to place some then you can always refer to that picture from the beginning. Now once you have done that you may walk away being happy that you have restored the building as accurately as you can.Unless you are a dev. If you feel that this is to empty, to blanck the go around and furnish the building however you see fit. Make it a palace! Or a warehouse! Or a military barracks! The possibility are endless. Here I made what looks like an outpost. With rooms for storage and offices. However use the shape of the building and existing furniture to help guide your inspirations. Try and avoid placing a bathroom where there are crates. Or a tower coming out the side. For that's not restoring. That is creating an entirely new structure.And this guide is on Restoring. Having said that, If it is something minor like placing glass blocks where there was backdrop is okay. It's a fine line between Creating and Restoring.
