His hands are rough as they hold your face, his eyes a deep trap of brown tar as the world disappears around you. You feel like your body is pulsing. Heat rippling from the bare soles of your feet to the crown of your head. Hands prickling over the soft skin of his forearms as the deep thrum of bass pounds through the background of your stand off.
His lips move, the world almost hazy as you focus on his low murmur. Lips dark under the blue dim.
“If we do this…remember I told you what it was.”
You know. God you know. But it’s hard to care when he holds you so close. When these last couple weeks have had your chest thrumming, your heart the wings of a humming bird, beating through the sinew of your chest when you think of him. Lips curving as he stops in open doorways just to hear the float of your voice. Picking your brain for your stories, you laughing deep at the recollection of his own.
It’s a bad idea. You know it is. He’s made it so hard to ignore him, and part of you wants to go back to when you did just that. But as your eyes stare into his, you don’t think you’ll ever feel so seen again in your lifetime. Not the way Smoke sees you. Not the way Elijah sees you.
“Mhm.”
Kissing him is like seeing the sun through your eyelids. Splashes of red and yellow. Lips the warmth of summer heat and softness of electrified wind. Long fingers scratching and rubbing circles through the curly nape of your neck.
