“Hey, love. I got the kids down, and I was thinking that we could use this time while they are asleep to watch something or just be together. What do you think?” Dexter was doing the best that he could to be there for everyone and right now he just needed a moment with his wife.

Dexter had been so strong through everything that had been happening lately and Julianne didn’t know if she would ever be able to repay him.  She knew that he would say that she didn’t need to repay him but it all just made her wish she could be strong for him. In case he ever needed to fall apart. She nodded with a smile, moving towards him. “I think that sounds perfect.”

“If you aren’t here to get hammered with me, then shut up and leave me alone.” Maya muttered, downing the drink in front of her without even looking up to see who had slid into the seat next to her.

Juli winced slightly at the tone but she sat down, rubbing her friend’s back gently. “I see you started without me.”

Dexter started to rub her back gently, moving his hand up and down gently. He wanted to help as much as he possible could. “It’s fine, I’m here.” He told her softly, looking back at her. “Tell me what the dream was about.”

Juli turned to look at him, shrugging slightly. “The usual, being locked in the storage unit, Bella, the gun...” She turned to rest her head against his chest. “I know it’s over and that you are here and the alarms are set...I don’t know why they keep happening.”

Maya: It's whatever

Maya: I may have lost my keys in my bedroom somewhere...

Juli: I'll unlock the door.

Maya: Well not confirmed to be that bad, but I know how to speak boy well enough to know the truth.

Maya: Doors unlocked?

Juli: I'm sorry.

Juli: Don't you have your key?

Maya: Just don't let Simon see me looking like a mess, at this point I may have to become a cougar just to have someone spend more than a week with me.

Maya: Kidding.

Maya: I'll be there in fifteen.

Juli: That bad?

Juli: Get here safe.

Maya: Both?

Juli: Probably not the best idea but I'll get the blender started.

Maya: I hate boys.

Juli: Dex is at Amanda's with the kids.

Juli: Wine or margaritas?

“Well if you want to go have a drink and some alone time afterwards, just let me know, you know I’ll keep Sadie safe until you want to come get her.” Maya smiled. “Well I mean, Simon is the most handsome boy I’ve ever met.” She teased. “You don’t need to worry though, I don’t plan on becoming a cougar until I’m at least sixty.”

“Oh, no, I meant that I would bring wine for both of us.” Juli chuckled. “Though, I guess it depends on whether or not I can get in touch with Dex...” She furrowed her brow slightly, shaking her head.  “What can I say, my husband makes beautiful kids.” She smiled, rolling her eyes at the joke about her being a cougar at sixty.  “Thank you again for this.  I’ll check in later.”

“Of course.” Maya nodded as she cradled Sadie in her arms. “I’m sure I’ll be fine, but let me know how things go with Simon’s school.” She told the other. “And you let me know if you need me to talk to him, I’ll let him know that if he still plans on marrying me someday that he needs to behave.” Maya teased gently.

Julianne nodded. “I will. I’m sure I’ll need a glass of wine when I get back.” She admitted.  She laughed gently, thankful again for her friendship with Maya. “Should I be worried about you becoming a cougar?”

Maya nodded slightly. “Need me to watch Sadie for a little bit? I’ve got no plans for the afternoon, so I can bring her back to my flat and you can pick her up after?”

Juli nodded, making sure she had all of her things.  ‘Are you sure?” She turned back to Sadie and Maya for a second, kissing Sadie on the head. “Mummy loves you so much.” She smiled softly before looking at Maya. “Thank you so much. If you need me to bring anything when I pick her up, dinner or something, please just let me know.”

“I really am the best, aren’t I?” Maya teased, making faces as the child in her arms while her mother made the phone call. When the other hung up she looked back to her, frowning slightly. “He’s pushing kids? That doesn’t sound like him…”

“You are.” Juli smiled, watching Maya and Sadie.  She put her phone down as she sighed, tucking her hair back behind her ear. “It’s not like him.  Which is what worries me.  They want me to come down to pick him up.”

Dexter had heard the nightmares sometimes but tonight was one of the nights that he heard them clearly. Sitting up after she did, he rubbed his eyes a little bit. Looking over at her before placing his hand onto her back. “Are you okay, love?” He asked, rubbing her back slightly.

Julianne’s heart was pounding as she felt him touch her back. She nodded, knowing she was too shakey to speak, trying to take a few deep breaths and relax at his touch.  “I’m sorry I woke you up.” She said softly, turning her head to look at him.

Damien looked over at her for a moment, and he chuckled lightly. “Same. I mean sometimes he knows ten minutes is ten minutes but then he also knows that he can push it sometimes.”

Juli smiled. “Well, I’m glad it isn’t just me.” She laughed softly, looking over at the boy before looking back at him. “He looks like you.”

Maya nodded, holding Sadie a bit closer with a smile. “Juli, you are an amazing woman, raising amazing kids. You can make this phone call.” She assured her. “Besides, Sadie and I will be right here, and you know that I’m willing to help with whatever it is that Simon might be going through.”

Juli gave Maya a small smile, giving her a nod. “Thank you, Maya.  I’m not sure how I got so lucky to get blessed with you as a co-worker.”  She took a deep breath before dialing the phone and speaking to the school.  Her brow furrowed slightly as she spoke to them before hanging up. “They said he’s been pushing kids on the playground.”

“Thank you.” Juli smiled, handing her Sadie before pulling out her phone to check her messages.  “Simon’s school keeps calling. I don’t know how concerned I should be.”
