Can't believe I invested so much of my time (and money 😭) in this show. I really wish I never got involved in this fandom, even though I did enjoy it once upon a time...

I was hoping I'd at least still get to enjoy bughead but I guess even that won't be happening anymore.

I feel like I might even stop reading bh fanfic, my favorite thing related to fandom, because I'm not good at compartmentalizing stuff.

I'm so jealous of people who have other shows or project they're interested in. Riverdale was the only show I still watched. I don't have any other fandoms and can't get into any new ones because my depression is so bad that I don't even like watching tv shows anymore. Fuck this shit.

I’ll preface this by saying - I’m aware it’s just a television show.

It’s not curing cancer. It’s not stopping the patriarchy. It’s not ending world hunger. It’s forty five minutes worth of very campy entertainment and most of the time, it doesn’t make sense. At the end of the day, the world will go on even if Riverdale doesn’t air another episode or if they put out something I feel goes completely against what I signed up for in this show.

But let me tell you a little something about my experience with Riverdale.

I originally heard about it through Tumblr and various commercials on The CW. I’m not very into current television shows. I seem to choose one TV show, follow it religiously, and then spend the rest of my days re-watching old shows from the 90′s or early 00′s because I enjoy not having to wait for new episodes and the comfortable predictability of knowing what happens to them. I don’t even remember watching the first episode of Riverdale, I just know I was intrigued by the whole ‘mystery’ aspect of it because damn, I love a good mystery.

..Hence why I followed Pretty Little Liars for seven goddamn years.

Btw, just to be clear, I was not one of the people who thought they were still together. I knew they broke up, Cole's post just really got to me.

I think this just gets to me because I've had such a hard year. My dad left us, my mom is really sick, I have chronic depression and severe anxiety, I'm currently in a bit of an identity crisis because I feel like I'm behind on so many aspects of my life (studies, friendships, relationships) etc.

Thanks to covid, I lost all of my other coping mechanisms that usually help me get over stuff, which also means that I'm much more attached to the very few coping mechanisms I still have access to.

For me, shipping people (both fictional and in real life) is a coping mechanism because I've never felt romantic love in my own life.

I realise that this isn't healthy, but unfortunately I can't control how I feel. I'm also a hopeless romantic and a little naive, so I don't handle breakups and new relationships well.

Luckily, I do realise I'm not entitled to anything and I'm not a crazy person, so of course I wish them both the very best.

I do want to say that I probably won't be here to explicitly fangirl about them anymore (at least not for the forseeable future), and especially not about their (future) new relationships. It hurts a little too much, and I'm convinced that being a fangirl isn't healthy for me. I need to find new coping mechanisms, even though being part of fandoms is the only thing I've known for the past +10 years. (I absolutely can't let go of Bughead fanfics though, it's the only thing I have left).

Tbh, I thought I was over it but Cole's post really got to me. It's heartbreaking, but also really beautiful, sweet and respectful.

Even if Cole and Lili are strangers to us, it’s okay to feel sad over the end of their relationship. Emotions are a big part of being human. If you need to take a break, to cry, to… do whatever makes you feel better, it’s okay too. Sometimes, an event totally separated from our life hits us hard. Please be kind. To yourself and to others.

This picture is stunning and is a gorgeous end to a beautiful love story. Cole’s post was mature and thoughtful. I wish them nothing but the best and happiness.

I really, really hate how awful I am in regards to keeping in contact with others. I want healthy and fulfilling relationships with my friends, but it’s very hard for me to wholly invest myself. I want to talk to you, but it’s difficult for me to muster the energy to do so sometimes. I want to hang out with you, but isolation also sounds nice right now. I’ll read your texts, but I’m not necessarily in the mood to reply at the moment. Then I feel anxious attempting to reach out when I do have the energy and I am in a good mood because I feel like I pushed you away and you dislike me now, so I usually remain isolated. I feel selfish because of it. And I feel like a bad friend.
