Before prom, Juliette had been struggling with her magic for a long time. Ever since her mom died, she just hadn’t been the same and neither had her powers. She was out of control, her emotions taking charge of her magic more often than not. And then... she got a taste of real power. The Original Warlock, Engel, coming to town was the beginning of the end for Juliette and her magic. He took an interest in her, boosted her power, encouraged her to push herself, to do more. Juliette thought everything was under control-- she was wrong.
One night, she ended up bringing Dexter Harrison along for a dose of power from Engel. It was a mistake. Dexter had a terrible reaction to the sudden influx of power, their powers going haywire, while Juliette was high on the power and oblivious to the pain she was causing. When she came down, she came down hard. Ian Morrison had helped her before and she begged him to help her again, she promised to be better. No magic.
She was doing good, you know? At least, up until prom night. Juliette was having fun with her sweetheart, Christian Cooper, and their friends. It was almost nice-- until she got a call from her dad. They found the car. The one that hit her mom. He described it. She hung up the phone. It was then Juliette realised that none of this mattered-- not prom, not Cooper, not moving on. Rage grew in her chest as her magic erupted, knocking Lana Anderson to the ground and several other bystanders as she made her double door exit from prom. She didn’t even notice Chris Andrews cleaning up the scene behind her.
Juliette knew who that car belonged to. She knew who was responsible for her mother’s death. First, she went to the attic of her house, to the books that her mom had kept from her-- a shameful family secret. Dark magic. She bled them dry. Next, she sensed Engel. Tracking him down and hopped up on power, she was able to momentarily drain him. If he weren’t so impressed, he might have been upset, but he was, so he let her go.
Next, she bewitched Leo and Effy to come to the woods. She had never felt so powerful, so untouchable in her life. She was fuelled by it (and by her rage, her grief). She tied them to a tree, explaining in agonising detail what she was going to do as she magicked the car-- their car, the car that had killed her mother- into them so slowly it was excruciating.
It would have lasted longer if she hadn’t been interrupted by do-gooders Ian, Cooper, Jenny, Isabel and Claire. With her witnesses, she delivered the killing blow, smiling their way before disappearing. Juliette becomes a Warlock. Sheriff Bennett has no choice but to cover up what she’s done, ruling it an accident and spinning a story to match.
Now she’s a Warlock, Juliette is simply loving life! No more pesky feelings to weigh her down, no more guilt or shame. She chases power now, seeing how far she can go just for fun. She also made it her personal mission to ruin the lives of Cooper and the other witnesses whenever possible-- for fun. She messes with Cooper’s mind a lot, turning him against his friends, messing with his memories and mannerisms. A gal’s gotta stay entertained in this town, you know!
For the record, though-- just because she’s evil doesn’t mean she’s totally cool with all the other weirdos at Bad Guy HQ (read: Chris Andrews, who has been bothering her for, like, 3 years now).
Basically just loving life in a lifeless way, is the #1 fave of Engel- learning how to be the worst lol!- and hates to be told ‘no’.
Bad guys who she enjoys, bad guys who get under her skin. People who are powerful that she can learn from, manipulate, steal magic from.
Old friends who don't get what happened to her.
