”W h y. Nor do I know where one is. At least not in this state.” He replied, as he watched the other. The angel remained confused, more or so left in but a simplistic daze. Yet nonetheless, he had only but to wonder. What was she doing with gold coins?
“That’s unfortunate,” she said, “I just had some to sell, is all. Thanks, anyway.” She smiled at him and turned to walk away. Maybe she could find a phone book or something like that.
"Yeah, I have. I had my own for a little while, but then it exploded. It's just something that happens when you try to be the 'good guy'", he laughed. "I've actually space hitchhiked before, which is kinda dangerous for a pretty little thing like me."
“Yeah, I’ll bet,” Alli said, giggling again. So space travel was a normal thing here. That was good to know, and he didn’t seem to be losing interest in her. She still had a shot at a good date where she didn’t make a total fool of herself!
…wait, had he said ‘exploded’?

Something was very, decidedly off about this woman. Cassie chose not to voice her thoughts, but was quite strongly considering that this lady was a few schooners short of a full armada…
Why anyone would be happy about seeing a bunch of rum-soaked, unwashed, cutthroats was beyond Cassandra’s comprehension. ”Um… yeah.” she replied finally. Turning her attention away from the strange woman, the barmaid motioned at the path towards her tavern.
Oh, dammit, now the woman thought that she was weird.
“It’s just… I’ve read stories,” she said in an awkward attempt to try and explain herself. She had read stories, after all. And seen movies and pictures and that ride at Disney, but she couldn’t tell her about those.

Mahia nodded and a smile crossed her own lips.
”Follow me then! We are not far from the area.” she replied, lifting an arm to motion left. The clearing would be hard for the Hunters to find, which is why Mahia had chosen that spot for her camp. The only problem would be navigating through the underbrush of the forest.
“Alright,” she said, following Mahia out and throwing her trash away as she left. She stayed close to the girl, knowing she would get lost without her guidance in the forest. Cities, towns, and populated areas, Alli was good with. Once a forest came into the picture, she was screwed.

Meg was slightly amused by her reaction, the smallest of laughs escaping her;
”That’s nice of you to say. I suppose I’m not completely awful, but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m a demon.”
Alli paused, her smile faltering a little.
"Do you... do you mean, like, literally?" she asked. It was a possibility, of course. She was in an alternate universe, after all. Who knew what could exist. It could be any combination of anything, really.
Demons were a little unsettling, though.
She shouldn’t judge. This was not her universe, where she had been taught that demons (which were not literally real) were evil. Either way, she should probably be careful.
"It’s my home. I’m an archangel, hence how I could teleport you out here. I needed you away from the human beings where I could assess you privately. So I have the ability to take you down or let you go," he explained.
“Oh,” she said, and paused to stare at him. She didn’t really have the words. An archangel had teleported her here (and actual archangel holy crap) to… possibly take her down?
“That’s…uh…” A little frightening? Disconcerting? She wasn’t evil, was she? No, no. It was silly to think like that. She’d know if she was evil, but now that she knew that he was an archangel, all the annoyance left her and she was left with… well, she wasn’t quite sure what she was feeling. Maybe this was what the church had meant when they said ‘fear of the Lord.’ She cleared her throat.
“I don’t think I’m a danger to anyone,” she said, trying to sound more confident than she felt and failing miserably.

"Great! I know just the place; it’s the absolute best." Rose cheered excitedly, walking forward to their new destination, "And, it isn’t that far either. Just a couple blocks down."
"Well, yes, but New Orleans is known for their graveyards." She shrugged lightly. "They all have this rustic beauty about. They’re just… gorgeous."
Alli smiled as she walked down the street with the woman.
"It still seems kind of creepy to me," she said. A cemetery was a cemetery, no matter how rustic the beauty of it, to Alli. A place full of dead people and totally definitely not possibly their ghosts.
He wanted to believe her, he really did. He narrowed his eyebrows, squint his eyes and looked at her— just observing. “So if you ‘pop in and out’, how do you do it?” he quizzed on curiously.
"I don't know," Alli said, "It just happens. I really wish I could explain it, but I can't. It's not like I do it on purpose. I mean, I don't even know if I'm the one doing it or if someone is doing it to me." She shuddered at the thought. She had considered this explanation before: a cruel being that enjoyed sending her wherever it felt like. She didn't like the thought of her life being controlled by someone or something other than herself. It made her feel powerless.

"Yeah, I’m fine," she nodded, snatching up a waffle and rolling her eyes, as though the mere notion was a ridiculous thing to suggest.
Plopping back down onto the floor, she lay on her back, regardless of the feeling of her spine dragging against wood. She was tired, her dark hair fanned out over her head like a halo, and she found herself wondering if the other girl was still doing that dumb thing called standing.
Her eyes flicked to the other, causing her neck to tilt up awkwardly, if only for a moment. —— “You gonna join me?”
"Sure," she said, laughing through the word, and joined Nicki on the floor. She lay on her stomach instead of her back, though. It was easier to eat this way, after all. Her legs crossed and popped up behind her as she chewed, feeling very much like her high-school-aged self.

Mahia knew that sort of feeling. Perhaps it was not exactly the same but she, too, knew what it was like to never remain in one place for too long. Always having to run from one area to the next… And she felt a pang of sadness at the realization that this woman experienced something similar to what she did.
”I believe I know what you mean…”
Alli looked up at the girl. Of course, she knew what it was like. She was always running from one place to the next to escape the people that were chasing her. Her next smile was a little more genuine.
"Come on," she said, "Let's get to those safe spots you know."
Gabriel raised his eyebrows. "Really? That sort of thing actually happens? You're not just making it up?" To him, it just sounded like another plot of a fantasy movie or something.
"You're one to talk," she said, taking her hand back and folding her arms, "I mean, you just teleported us here." She paused. "Where... Is here, by the way?"

"Awesome!" Rose gave a small cheer as her smile grew. She loved showing people around this city, it made her feel like it was actually her home, "Well, where do you want to start? A restaurant, the beach, maybe a graveyard?"
Alli laughed a little at her cheer.
"A restaurant sounds good," Alli said. She'd found that she was always hungry after a jump, which made her guess that they must take up a lot of energy.
She began to walk beside the woman.
"Isn't a graveyard kind of a creepy place to go?" she asked. She'd never been fond of places like that. Alli preferred to spend her time around the living, not the dead.

"You too."
"Very nice to feed my home intruder… waffles?"
"You’re waffles— —welcome.”
She stood with a befuddled expression, before stammering out a ‘yeah’ and handing her the plate. Talking was hard, she didn’t like it. She was just trying to get a snack and go to bed, and now she was trying to figure out how to do the words thing.
”—Nice to meet you too.”
Alli took the plate and tilted her head to the side.
"You okay?" she asked. The girl seemed to be at a loss, and she was having difficulty getting words out. Had Alli said something? She wasn't sure. Maybe the whole situation was just starting to wear on the poor girl.

"Holy shit.”
"Uhhhh..." Alli said, hoping that the woman was saying 'holy shit' about something other than her just appearing out of thin air. It didn't seem likely, but she'd been wrong before.
"What's up?" she said, tense and unsure that using the expression would be appropriate at the moment.

"Maybe we should," he agreed, taking a deep breath. It was just one day that he wanted to rest and he knew it would have had to end one way or another, but it doesn’t mean he had to be happy about it.
He could deal with her and, as long as she wasn’t trying to kill anyone, go back to his business.
"Okay then," she said, and held out her hand to him, "Hi. My name is Alli Brooke. I randomly jump into alternate universes with no clue as to when I'm leaving, where I'm going, or how it happens." She smiled and, admittedly, it was a bit sarcastic and sassy, but that was only because he'd annoyed her at first. She was a pretty genuine person, otherwise.

“Well, there are a few places where I have set up camp. While they are far from impenetrable, they are well concealed.” she answered with a smile. “Places such as that have served me well in the past.”
Mahia leaned forward and folded her arms beneath her chest, elbows resting on the table. she was curious as to why it sounded like this woman wouldn’t be here for much longer. “If I may ask, are you planning to travel soon? I apologize if it is none of my business…”
Alli nodded and then gave her a big smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
"I wouldn't really call it 'planning,'" she said, "But I can't stay. It's not that I don't want to. I mean, it's not like I really have a choice either way. I just..." She looked down at the table and fiddled with the wrapper of her food a little. "I can never stay."
