Don’t tempt me Henry…. ;-)
Ioan Gruffudd as Henry Morgan in Forever, 1x01
Those eyes! ❤️
Surgical instruments of Naval Surgeon William Beatty, ca. 1800
The wooden box containing instruments including a screw tourniquet, an amputation knife with detachable handles, two trephines and forceps. Inset into the box lid, behind a velvet-covered panel, are more instruments, including a fine-toothed bow saw, a knife, a hook and forceps.
Beatty was 1805 the Surgeon aboard HMS Victory and took care of Nelson after his deadly injury.
This is the most amazing post and thank you for sharing. 🙏

What a beauty!
Ioan Gruffudd as Henry Morgan, Forever 1x01.
Dear God, you’re giving me a hernia, Archie! Time to lay off the crumpets!
Dear folks,
It hurts my soul and breaks my heart to have to tell you today that I won’t be doing much more here for a while.
There is a reason for this, because there is someone out there who has made it his business to copy my blog and its content. And this is no longer just about pictures but also about my written posts. It’s not nice to see someone taking these things and rewriting them and posting them as their own, not only my stuff but also from other blogs. And by the way I get attacked in anonymous messages, insulted and made out to be someone who is just jealous and repost them.
I know a lot of you like my stuff and you are disappointed, and it hurts me to go this way but I can’t go on like this. That means I will put bigger text posts on hold for now, even though many are waiting for the Surgeon (which I have been working on for 1.5 years) and other things. I will still write small things, answer questions and the artefacts and pictures will remain, even if not so many.
As I said I am sorry, i will try to come back
HMS Retribution and HMS Hotspur- Hornblower
Hornblower and the Indefatigable 1794 , by Robert Taylor (1951-)
Midshipman Hornblower in action aboard HMS Indefatigable as she engages a French frigate off the coast of France 1794
Midshipman Horatio Hornblower
According to your average AoS novel this was the most common sight in the Great Age of Sail: A wet, shirtless protagonist.
“We still have to blow up the fort. I need a man to lay the charges” [“I would be honoured to volunteer, sir.” / “And I, sir.” / “I’m the senior officer.”] “I don’t think we’ll take all three of you.”
