Recently, B1A4 have released their third full-length album ‘Good Timing.’ As has been pointed out to be a dream by many artists, they have filled the full-length album with their own compositions, as expected, it has been a dream of the members for a long time. ‘Good Timing’ is their first release in a year and three months and their first full-length album after two years and ten months. It is an album that contains B1A4’s growth as well as deeper and wider emotions and music. More meaningful than their place on the charts is the fact that it holds their stories.
In this album, starting from the title song ‘A Lie’ to the hidden track ‘When Snow Comes’ that can only be found on the CD, they are all linked by one story. Starting with ‘A Lie,’ the love story of one man who lies about wanting to break up to his girlfriend. Jinyoung, who produced ‘Good Timing,’ said, “There’s a story about this album. The intro song’s title is ‘Time’ and after the clock sound, I changed and reversed the instruments. The voice in it is also backwards as well.” He also explained, “When you reverse the intro, you can hear ‘I’m sorry, I want to turn back time.’ If you listen to the song following that, you’ll be able to understand the one man’s love story.”
#They draw with different colors
As you listen to this B1A4 album, another fun thing is that while following the story, you’ll be able to hear music of various colors. Despite being idols, they have a road that’s certainly different from other teams. They have led by their own compositions and rather than through synchronized dancing or a lively sound [t/n: I believe like always making sure their title songs conform to what the public enjoys] B1A4 have established their own style by being able to lead with the maximum charms of the members. Their differentiating points from other idols is that of their music and emotions.
‘Good Timing’ is also an extension of that. It is filled with music that fits B1A4 well. The dreamy intro and ‘A Lie’ may unique, yet they suit B1A4. In particular, ‘A Lie’ is not a simple song but has various changes; it starts with a 16-bit synthesizer and gives way to tension with its house rhythms while in the refrain it changes dramatically with its locking sound.
Their songs also vary. ‘The Moment I Fall For You Again’ has a hip-hop feel as well as an 80s synth sound that is harmonious. It’s a hip-hop style unique to B1A4. ‘Good Timing’ has an 80s pop sound coupled with a rock guitar sound that adds even more fun. Besides ‘Together,’ there are other songs that stand out as B1A4 conveying their hearts to their fans. They are the CNU’s own compositions, ‘Sparkling’ and ‘To My Star.’ The lyrics include their fanclub’s name, BANA, and is a song about the fans being B1A4’s stars.
CNU said, “I made the song ‘Sparkling’ by thinking that it’d be nice if there were an exciting song on our album. We’re not the only ones excited, though. I put the lyrics ‘falling for BANA’ in the lyrics with the sense that we can be excited together with BANA.” He continued by saying, “‘To My Star’ is a song that is completely dedicated to the fans.”
In their sixth year since their debut, steadily growing, composing, acting, variety, and others, B1A4 have been expanding their spectrum with their wide range of activities. That’s why I’m looking forward to B1A4’s music and emotions as they continue, I become more curious about their story.
