CSYxJJY; For Ironyâs Sake
Today was just the sameâhis classes had ended on an earlier note than the usual (it was some crap about the professor having to attend some seminar or something), and he walked all eighty-two steps from the main building back to the boysâ dorm aloneâsince it would be awfully cheesy to state that his only companion would have been the dusty, black covered periodical he squeezed firmly in his fingers while his hunched stature made little steps along the pavement. Upon entering the empty dorm roomâhis dorm mates had better lives out of the room and its reek of week-long unwashed socksâhe quickly scampered towards his bed and sprawled himself along its thin mattress. He turned over, now on his back, and then shifted a bit for his head to hang by his nape along the edge of the bed.
He raised the periodical an armâs length away from himself, at the same time squinting his eyes for supposed better eyesight. âO-on⌠the physical a-aspects of cha-change⌠during pu-puberty in the per-per-perspective⌠of the selected third year and second year respondents studying in B-Bullworth Academy⌠academic year t-two thousand and s-s-seven⌠t-to two th-thousand and e-e-eightâŚâ He stumbled upon his words unconsciously, sighing softly a little afterwards. He didnât really realize that what he picked up was a mere term paper that deemed factual enough to be put inside the library. Without any further hesitation, though, he flipped the cover page over and scanned through each page. All of the fifty-six pages were thoroughly sifted through in a little over sixteen minutes, and there he was back to being in a daze, in wonder of what he should be doing.
Just then, a set of names inclined to their dorm numbers and contact numbers popped into his head. He started reciting that directory he got by with reading the first day he was there. From A, all the way to CâC. Choi. Choi Sooyoung.
There was always something so odd that he found in that name of hers. He always paused to give a light laugh when he thought of the name, for no particular reason whatsoever. Perhaps it was how Choi was the last name of the neurologist that said he needed to be put in a ward, and how Sooyoung meant swimming. He always hated swimming. A mixture of two things he hated all at once. How peculiar.
From his pocket, he slid out his phone and pressed on it to open to his oneâhis fatherâs number. With a soft sigh escaping his slightly parted lips, he was quick to sit up, folding his knees for his legs to fit into the bed. He looked warily at the lone number while chewing on the corner of his lower lip out of mannerism. It was time for him to get friends, he proclaimed to himself. Boldly, he set Choi Sooyoungâs number onto the keypad of his phoneâfor that certain ironyâs sake, perhaps? Even he himself didnât know what was going through his mess of a mind when he did that. Without much reluctance, he sent a message to the girl who he didnât even know at all.
Hi. During 2007-2008 in Bullworth Academy, there was a survey conducted on the physical aspects of puberty to some of its students. Well, specifically 45 respondents in their second or third year of their college life. 19 were female, 26 were male. At that time, 87% (14% who strongly agree; 73% who agree) of the researcherâs respondents said that their self-esteem is lowered when talking to other people, and 13% disagreed. 78% (18% strongly agreeing; 60% being those that agree) say that the physical changes affect how they socialize with people, or they are less motivated to make new friends because of these changes. On the other hand, 22% (18% who disagreed; 4% for those who strongly disagree) find no difficulty in making new friends, or do not let these physical changes affect their motivation to socialize with other, or new people⌠I donât wanna bore you with numbers; I know they bore me, so Iâll pretty much end it there. The researcher concluded that the physical changes that an adolescent experiences during puberty has a definite effect on their interpersonal relations or relationships with others, may it be with their friends, or their families. So yeah. Itâs nice to meet you.
--and sent. He had the most childish aesthetic painted on his featuresâbright grin and eyes turning into crescents with a crinkle of skin to accent their corners. He was pleased with himself, though unknowing of what reaction heâd be getting for giving out information. He did not give much matter to how the said facts could be totally irrelevant in this Choi Sooyoung personâs life. Yet he waited, not really hoping for the best reaction; he was waiting for a reply, at least.
