Hi! You can call me Bee, 22, they/he pronouns, and this blog is for the haunted dreamers, storytellers, and over-thinkers of the world.

(Also anyone who enjoys short stories, in-development ideas, little rambles, etc.)

I am someone who consumes books, interactive fictions, stories, and any pieces of media with strong emotion tied to it in a way that borders unhealthy to my mind. For everything I consume, a piece of it stays with me and lingers...swirling through my head until I can't separate my own emotions and thoughts to those I've adopted. This, partnered with an unfortunate coping mechanism of daydreaming I've had since a child, can make things up there a bit messy.

These past few years, my daily pondering and daydreams have merged into my previously restful nights and turned my scattered dreams into weaving storylines that I can control at a whim. Basically, I am living the fitful sleep of a lucid-dreamer MC on the regular.

Recently, I've started writing down the best of the stories I've dreamt, as I am unable to get them off my mind the days following. This blog will feature those stories.

You can expect summaries of the original dreams (straight from my notes app), to half-baked plot-lines, random scenarios, characters I've begun to flesh out, and who knows what else???

Maybe, eventually, together with your input, we'll even make a proper story together! AKA maybe I'll actually write an interactive fiction for one of the ideas or a cohesive story with chapters and all that I'll post online.

So join me alongside this journey and help me get these stories just out of my head!

My Dreams:

Dream #1: Having the ability to experience ghosts and all other souls, MC pursues a life under Department Yggdrasil. Their department's mission is to help 'Supernatural' beings adjust and thrive as an "open secret" in an industrialized predominantly human society, advocate for additional Supernatural legal support & protections, subdue human and Supernatural altercations through knowledge & force (as necessary), and ultimately to create a society in which Supernatural beings have equal rights & recognitions as humans.

MC's designation as an active field agent is to help ghosts “move on” to what’s next, prevent & subdue human and ghost altercations, and for any ghost deemed an active threat - neutralize them. All for the betterment of both the living and undead. Wrapped into an unexpected adventure, MC will have to choose who and what exactly is most important to them even as their realities shatter.

Dream #1: Revamped RO's Part 1!

Hestia Brandt

Pronounced (heh-stee-ah) (brand-tuh), uses she/her pronouns (AFAB), bisexual, 24 years-old, and 5'5" tall. Previously known as the character, 'MC's Best Friend'.

She has dark brown skin and wide light brown rounded eyes. Long tightly-curled dark brown hair flows down her back to her waist. It is cut into a Hime cut with straightened side-locks and a fringe. Her eyebrows are shaved off. She wears heavy makeup to invoke a sense of innocence, wonder, and courage. She describes her makeup as if "A cheery clown met a Bratz doll backstage at a show doing makeup for an 18th century porcelain doll".

Hestia's Makeup: Using her natural dewy skin as the base, she applies bright pigments in either red, red-orange, or hot pink to her skin. Her blush is in tight circles on the apples of her cheeks, on the tip of her nose, and then messily swirled across her eyes & eyelids. Tight white eyeliner is swiped across her waterline, emphasizing the roundedness of her eyes. Underneath, black eyeliner works to draw an intricate design similar to that of an upside down triangle with a large dotted point. Thick black mascara follows in order to fan out her lashes in an exaggerated look. Black eyeliner is applied again, this time on the lips, to create a small line outwards horizontally on each side of her lips. Then, to line her lips and over-line her cupid's bow. Next, An opaque sparkly lip gloss matching her blush is applied and smudged together with the dark liner. Finally, sparkly highlighter matching the rest of the pigments across her face is applied to the tip of her nose, corner of her eyes, and her cupid's bow.

Hestia prefers to wear Punk Lolita styles. Combining fluffy petticoats & bloomers with daringly high platform boots and ripped fishnets.

Off-duty: she wears short a-line dresses, primarily in black, that reach to her lower thighs with various colors & patterns accenting the ruffles that adorn her. Underneath the dress lie a petticoat, a pair of ripped fishnet tights, and her pink leopard-print thigh holster with her favorite knife 'Sacrifice'. She also wears black silver-buckled platform boots that reach mid-calf, a pink leopard-print analog watch, a few kandi bracelets with skull beads, and her iconic black bat-shaped backpack.

On-duty: she often wears black ruffled bloomers with vibrant opaque skull-patterned tights in various colors, preferring red, purple, hot pink, or yellow. As her top, she is dressed in a plaid poofy button up with a ruffled collar and puffed short sleeves. The plaid typically matches the color of her tights. In addition, she wears black & white knee-high lace-up Converse with 'Sacrifice' holstered in the top of her right shoe. She accessorizes with a dangerously spiked silver & black wrist cuff on her left arm, a skull-patterned analog watch on her right, and a few brightly colored kandi bracelets with skull beads on both arms. She also keeps her hair up in dual buns tied with large black silky ribbons. Again, her iconic bat-shaped backpack makes an appearance. This time, filled with a water bottle, a gothic-style journal with a skull-topped pen, a laminated pamphlet of Department Yggdrasil's rules & procedures for their agents, various styles of kandi bracelets, a first-aid kit with smelling salts and sterile alcohol wipes, a spare battery pack to charge her phone, and her Dad's old walkman with a few of the CD's he burned along with it.

She smells like the odd warm day in winter; sweetly smokey, with a hint of incense from prayer and a splash of a deep red merlot. And just faintly, the icy chill of peppermint swirls underneath.

She met MC whilst training under Department Yggdrasil, North America Designation, as field agents. She had always planned to join Department Yggdrasil growing up and did so as soon as she turned 18. Her Dad worked under Department Yggdrasil and she wanted to follow in his footsteps. Even more so since he had died.

She is currently coworkers with MC within the same designation. To help ghosts “move on” to what’s next, prevent human and ghost altercations, and for any ghost Department Yggdrasil has deemed an active threat - neutralize them. She has the power to physically & emotionally make people feel towards her like she is their ideal version of what a "home" should be. She can be the warmth of a fireplace on a snowy night. The twinkle of the stars as you look up to the night sky from your picnic blanket. The sweaty comfort of being surrounded by your friends on a nightclub's dance floor. Etc. She is drawn towards the ghosts left with the cold fear of being alone even in a crowded home. The ones left behind in your closet, under your bed, in the large suitcase you keep around because you always wanted to travel but felt even worse in the crowds out there than in here.

She is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up near the Gayborhood. She's more of a Gritty fan than a Flyers fan, but she appreciates how sports culture can become a home for so many around her. Her personality is peppy, friendly, with a sarcastic humor. And if you catch her in an off-moment, you'll catch a glimpse of the deep sadness within her heart. She also has a fiery anger that comes out when in protection of herself & those around her.

She often hands out kandi bracelets to complete strangers who seem like they need a little happiness & whimsy in their day. Even with mixed results, she continues to do so based on the positive interactions she's experienced because of it. She also kins the Sanrio character Kuromi, and her favorite colors are hot pink, purple, orange, and black. Yes, she knows black technically isn't a color in some circles, but a shade, and no, she does not care.

Possible Romance Spoilers Below!

She has been minimally sexually attracted to MC since they became friends and has deeply repressed it, only letting it show through their compliments of MC's appearance and blushing when MC is being particularly kind to others (and to her). The MC can choose whether they have held a secret crush on Hestia during their time as friends as well in the prologue of the demo.

Dream #1: About Ghouls!

Content warning: moderately gruesome depictions regarding flesh & blood, mentions of bodily functions & fluids, mention of pedophilia (non-descriptive), mature language

"Ghouls are created when ghosts successfully overtake a human's mind and inhabit their body. In this process, the human's soul is depleted or 'consumed' by the ghost. Without its original soul, the human body fights its new host like a parasite, adamantly rejecting it and draining the body of its energy rapidly. In order to become a successful ghoul, the body must consume an equal amount of human souls until it is satisfied. This number has been noted to be between one and one hundred in numerous souls. It is impossible to know beforehand how many human souls will be needed for a successful body transfer. To consume a human soul, one must first eat the heart and brains of a human killed by their own actions. By this point, if the human's soul-anchor hasn't already appeared, it will. Once it does, than ghoul, they better quickly slurp it up like a mimosa at a drag brunch before it dissipates or else their hard work has gone to waste.

After enough human souls have been consumed, one will know based on the...

Diminished burning pain

Healing of the previous sheets of skin that were rapidly peeling off their body

Returning clear vision & hearing (unless previously impaired)

The blood & viscera forcefully expelling itself out of every crevice of their body will stop gushing down their raw skin

Following their transformation, to keep them from getting their freshly renewed soul rejected from their body, ghouls have to continue drinking human blood as their primary nutrient source for the rest of their reborn lives. Being "reborn" is the preferred term to describe the aforementioned process by most ghouls. Though, they certainly are called much worse on a daily basis. The human blood consumed can be drunk from an alive human, scavenged from a dead one, or prepackaged.

What are commonly referred to as "Vampires" in popular internationally Western media are predominantly inspired by ghouls. It is commonly believed amongst Supernatural circles that at least one ghoul severely fucked up how many humans they brought to slaughter when trying to enter their host's body, left the rest of the cattle alive, and the rumors spread from there. How the sexy aspect of all that started...who knows? Ghouls aren't ones to yuck someone's yum. Except for pedophilia. Ew.

Most cultures have some sort of creature similar to our description of the "Ghoul". From Cagayan, Sulu we have the Berbalangs, with their cat-like slitted eyes, and of whom eat the entrails of human corpses. Occasionally, they astral-project their bodies in order to flee their physical constraints, then travel by flapping through the air unseen, and ultimately consume nearby living humans' bodies from the inside-out. And from Togo and Ghana in West Africa, we have the Ewe people's adze. The adze is a small insect, such as a firefly or mosquito, or ball of light, that feeds on human's blood - eventually either consuming them or possessing them. We use the term "Ghoul" in our book as our perspectives predominantly come from an internationally Western-centered perspective. However, just like how it should be in our homes of North America and Europe, we will do our best to reflect and celebrate our diverse audiences by using additional background information and anecdotes from other cultures based on our research. Such as the ones above. Suck it monoculturalism!

Ghouls look almost indistinguishable from average humans. The only difference is their eyes. They have eyes visibly similar to corpses; cloudy with bloated pupils and an everlasting distant look. However, slap in some colored contacts and everything is groovy. Oh, and, I guess their retractable fangs are pretty distinguishable. You just have to catch them when they are a bit hungry or currently feasting.

Weaknesses include anything that can injure a human. Seriously. Sunburns, stakes, machine guns, anything. They do have advanced regenerative abilities, but no natural advancements elsewhere. Also, they are allergic to garlic. All of them. Why? It's confirmed that famous Wise Moira in 1583, when she was 38 and in the midst of the Scottish Witchcraft Act, cursed all ghouls to be allergic to garlic for as long as her lineage lives. So far, despite many ghouls' attempts on their lives, her lineage is prosperous and numerous. And rumor has it, is still in an agreement with the same daoine sith Wise Moira first got her powers from!

The curse seems to cause for ghouls: severe sneezing within three feet of uncovered garlic (skins included), toilet-shaking diarrhea upon ingestion of a quarter-teaspoon's worth of garlic, a roiling fever and raging hallucinations upon ingestion of a teaspoon's worth of garlic, and should any more than such garlic be consumed...well, good luck ghouls. Because for the next twenty minutes, they would be under a compulsory spell to tell the truth. And they physically cannot refrain from communicating the truth in their most effective way to relay the information to the other(s).

Oddly enough, consuming more than a teaspoon of garlic does not activate the additional symptoms associated with consuming garlic. But, consumption of a teaspoon or less, and one is having a sincerely horrific afternoon. Wise Moira was certainly thorough in her curse!"

Dream #2 (less) Rough Notes Part 2

SO MANY CHARACTERS Part 1

Prince's Siblings:

Prince's Twin Sister (deceased): 8 years-old, AFAB, used she/her pronouns before her death. 4'2", she was two inches taller than her twin brother Prince at the time of her death.

She had copper-red hair reaching the middle of her back which was parted down the middle (when she wore it down), curled, and tightly-wound. She preferred to wear it in a high bun (of sorts...let's call it an extremely messy bun) and often had to be chased by her servants and/or her mother in order to get her hair brushed & (somewhat) detangled. She tried to convince her mother into letting her cut it short like Prince's, but The Queen would not even pretend to consider it. Twinkling light brown eyes, an upturned nose, and freckles scattered across her pale body, she was the 'spitting image' of Prince. Or was Prince the 'spitting image' of her?

She wore simple white linen dresses with minimal undergarments, and in secret from their parents, would swap outfits with Prince during the night while playing 'dress-up' games. She had been forbidden to wear boy's clothes outside of the occasional horse-riding lesson, even though she had been screaming her dislike of dresses to her parents for the past three years. She also disliked having long hair, and would often steal Prince's toy soldiers instead of playing with her dolls as she found them creepy.

Ever since she was a baby, she had an odd fascination with blades. Her family found this out after her mother couldn't get her to stop crying one night a few months after she was first born, and went to see if her father could help calm her down. He was in the study going through their mail with a letter-opener, and as soon as she caught caught sight of it she stopped crying. Initially, her father thought it was due to him and was very pleased by such. However, the comical bobbing of her head and pendulum swing of her eyes as she watched the letter-opener flourish in the air as her father's arm punctuated his words to her mother quickly clarified the misconception. At 8, she had been trying to convince her parents to let her begin fencing lessons alongside Prince (who had just started), but she had not yet been successful.

Prince's Younger Brother: 8 years-old, he's the youngest sibling, AMAB, and uses he/him pronouns. He's the shyest one in the household. In a house full of strong personalities, he takes the most after his father, The King. Not to say The King is particularly shy, but he is much more subdued and easily flustered one-on-one. Only when acting as his father though. When he is portraying The King, he is gentle yet strict. Undercutting any rowdiness within The Court with a sharp glance and a patronizing smile.

The Prince's Younger Brother has long straight black hair that tints red in the sun. It is parted to the side and frequently causes him to be mistaken as a girl. However, he likes his hair, and his parents support. his decision. He is the only one to have inherited his father's exact eye color, a sparkling sapphire blue. He has pale, yet easily tanned, freckled skin and is 4' tall. His favorite color is yellow, and he is commonly seen wearing a linen white undershirt that reaches to his elbows with a frilly collar topped with a mustard yellow vest with dark brown breeches, white socks, and dark brown leather shoes. His nickname around the castle is 'Sunflower'. Not just for his outfit and love of yellow, but because he is always facing the charismatic "suns" around him.

His favorite food is honey cakes. Particularly the ones with honeyed oranges or lemons on top. He commonly "sneaks away" from his personal guard and servant to go down to the kitchens and sample the sweets between courses. If he could only eat sweets for the rest of his life, he would. The rest of his time is spent in the library reading all sorts of books. Currently, he is fascinated by entomology, the study of insects and arthropods (like spiders).

He is showing signs of having a similar condition to his mother. She has issues with fatigue, continuous pain without being touched, migraines, tremors, joint instability, and often uses a cane to her assist her in walking or a wheelchair depending on her pain. He has been complaining of pain in his body he can't explain, has chronic severe headaches, and sleeps often. Given such, instead of starting with fencing as his other siblings did, his lessons are beginning with hand-to-hand self defense at a slower pace to accommodate for his pain and fatigue. There has also been some talk about knife throwing lessons eventually...well, we shall see. He doesn't particularly enjoy fighting, but understands the necessity after seeing his older siblings go through the same thing. He especially admires Prince's Younger Sister.

Prince's Younger Sister: 16 years-old, the middle sibling, AFAB, she uses she/her pronouns, and is currently pending her bisexual awakening. She has hazel-blue eyes, like looking at pebbles & sand through shallow waters. They are framed by long raven black eyelashes that match in color to her medium-length wavy hair. Her hair is cut into a layered bob that reaches to her shoulders with bangs that fall just above her eyebrows and fan across her forehead. She has olive skin the exact same shade as her mother's and is 5'5" tall.

Her wardrobe primarily consists of ankle-length loose linen or silk skirts with matching bodices in the shades of deep jewel tones such as dark blue, burgundy, and rich violet with detachable sleeves. Being known in as one of the best archers in the area, the detachable sleeves are a must-have addition to her outfit as upon the removal of her sleeves, she retains her full range of motion in her shoulders and arms without having to constantly wear or carry bulky extra layers. Plus, her mom makes much less of a fuss this way than when she leaves the estate in only her bodice and skirt. When leisurely outside, she wears trimmed silk bergère hats topped with large feathers (ethically sourced) and silk ribbon ties underneath. Her favorite one has a peacock feather. She also wears low-heeled boots with a knife tucked into one boot at all times.

Following the death of her sister, once she reached the age of 8, she began fencing lessons. Just like her sister had once wanted. She hated it. She tried to continue lessons to make her deceased sister proud, to continue her dream, but only made it up to a year before she quit. However, her fencing instructor was also trained in using most weapons, as he previously served as the Weapons Master for The King's Guards. At age 10, she caught him heading out hunting one day from his rooms in the Castle and begged to attend alongside him as she was "unfathomably and most commiseratingly bored". He agreed as long as she remained quiet and listened to his every instruction.

Surprisingly, she obeyed and he relayed he was off to hunt an invasive bird species that was preying on local fauna important to the surrounding forests' usual wildlife. Apparently, these birds were much further North than usual, and he hoped scaring them off from the area would prevent them from setting roost here. She was fascinated by the prospect and his honorable intentions. And most importantly, those wicked looking knives and elegantly carved bow. All the bows she had seen the knights wear seemed...boring. Mechanical. This was a powerful work of art. Even more so when he took a shot and the arrow whistled through the air. Powerful, precise, killing his target immediately through their fragile skull. Merciful. He even buried his kills after stripping them of any valuable or useable "materials'. "Returning them to the soil to honor their sacrifice for the forest." he said. Once she saw that, she immediately asked to be trained in "whatever this was" and once he got approval from The King & Queen, they did so immediately.

Dream #1: About Souls and Soul-anchors!

"A soul is the essence of consciousness combined with the vitality of life. It is the freedom to think and the freedom to live. It...also kind of looks like a giant lightning bug leashed to whatever being it's attached to.

Anything that once held consciousness has a soul. Dogs, ghosts, humans, bees, octopi, ghouls, etc. And yes, that includes dead humans in certain circumstances. More on that later.

In humans, the best way to access the soul is through the mind & heart, the central functioning organs of the human body. Usually this practice is done through any means that bring notice to one's full physical state. As when one is centered with their body or pushed physically, their spiritual state is strengthened enough for their soul-anchor to be noticed. Soul-anchors are visible to the eyes, have a melodic frequency similar to twinkling bells, and when tugged, can be a variety of weights - ranging from a feather to twenty pounds.

To induce an experienced soul-anchor, one can try exercise, meditation, drinking alcohol excessively, doing recreational drugs, and drawing on power from the daoine sith. Prescription drugs can also induce a soul-anchor to become experienced, and it is commonly due to a side effect from the medication. Such as increased serotonin or increased heart rate.

For anyone who believes they are able to see, hear, or feel ghosts, please look up Department Yggdrasil (they will be under the United Agreement on Earthly Matters) on any nearby internet device, select your country and location, and navigate to the 'Medical Care' tab. Under that tab you will find their directory, which will assist you in finding a nearby Agency medical care center or trained agents staffed in local medical networks. Whether you have money or not for their services, Yggdrasil-affiliates in this directory are required to assist you to the best of their capability, and should they be unable, refer you to another who is. Even if you are unsure, we urge you to do so as leaving the symptoms untreated can result in disastrous circumstances should you successfully induce a soul-anchor unknowingly.

Department Yggdrasil actively recruits static agents as doctors, nurses, and service staff to place at various non-Supernaturally aware hospitals in order to prevent circumstances such as patients "hallucinating" their soul-anchors and being medicated for possible psychosis. Which can continuously induce a soul-anchor and leave the individual at danger for extreme fatigue and pretty much put a bright neon sign on their head saying "Eat me!" for anyone looking to consume a pretty soul.

Soul-anchors are visible to the individual experiencing their increased spiritual state, as well as anyone around them who is able to experience souls. This includes certain demi-humans & full 'Supernaturals', humans that have been born without breath and live after having no oxygen for more than 10 minutes, and humans gifted by the daoine sith can experience souls.

Soul-anchors take their name from the usage of anchors, large metal hooks, to weigh down boats in the water in order to prevent the boat from moving due to active currents. In this, the being is the anchor, the soul-anchor the rope, and the soul is the boat. Cut the rope, and the soul flows away. Well, unless a ghoul tries to eat it that is! Just kidding. Sort of."

Dream #1 Concept Edit 1

Alright! Quick little edit here, well, quick in concept but certainly not in coding. I have made a decision on whether the ability to see ghosts comes from the MC being demi-human or from having been born human in a "special" way!

After careful consideration, I have decided to give you...🥁🥁🥁(drumrolls)...both! Plus one more additional way (as of now)! We love additional flavor text here!

Lore: Certain demi-humans & full 'Supernaturals', humans that have been born without breath and live after having no oxygen for more than 10 minutes, and humans gifted by the daoine sith can experience ghosts & all other souls.

Dream #2 Concept Edit 2

I know, already! Life's inspirations strike whenever they want to. And I did decide any information posted that I decide to change will be given a lil' notification, as such. If it gets to be too much though let me know!

Inspired by a conversation I had with one of my moms, she is deaf and previously was training to become a detective when she was much younger, I decided to make Prince's Personal Guard deaf.

See, my mom, even though she passed all the training necessary to enter the police academy, wore hearing aids, and had one of the top scores in aim accuracy, was not allowed to pursue a career within the academy due to her deafness and being a supposed liability with a gun. Which is a required element of a lot of positions. The ADA allowed for her to go through training, but did not cover being accepted, even if she excelled. This was also the late 90s - early 2000's in the Midwest so keep that in mind. As ADA enforcement is questionable even now, but especially then & there.

Whatever your feelings on this, I want to explore having a security/guard position being deaf and how her disability impacts her work. Both positively and negatively, and how she navigates doing such. Having a variety of disabled representation in my work is important to me and this one of the ways this will show up.

Dream #2 Concept Edit

Hello! Welcome to our first concept edit! Well, first concept edit that I'm doing after filtering the rough notes of course. I'm currently working through Dream #2's rough notes and after working on Prince's parents' characters, the King & Queen, I realized the ages of Prince and The Consort don't quite fit with the whole marriage thing.

The reason why the King & Queen are pushing for a marriage is to secure a future for Prince and, well, to exhibit some control over the years where one his age and status would typically explore their studies, go abroad, and perhaps be a bit rebellious. It also would be quite hypocritical & irresponsible of the King to marry his son off at 18 given that he didn't get married until he was 24; after he finished his studies at university and traveled abroad.

So! Prince and The Consort are now set to be fiancees, not immediately for marriage. With the agreement that following the completion of Prince's education, they shall be wed. Unfortunately, no wedding bells quite yet! However, Prince may or may not be expected at an Engagement Party soon!

Dream #2 (less) Rough Notes Part 1

Concept: Prince has his entire life under the control of his parents, the King & Queen. His entire appearance is warped due to their grief, his freedom entrapped to the palace grounds, and his marriage & choice of partner controlled by their whims. Though he finds solace in the night of his escapades to the local tavern alongside his personal guard, he longs to have true freedom. To look however, to go wherever, to be whatever he wants. And he will get it, no matter what the cost.

Main Characters:

Prince: The songbird trapped in a cage. But contrary to most tales, this songbird is going to fly free - on his terms. Not his captors'.

18, AMAB, uses he/him pronouns at the beginning of the story, bisexual. 5'6" but has to wear shoes with a heel in order to appear 5'8". Short, thick copper-red hair with tightly-wound curls that are impossible to fully detangle, with soft light brown eyes, a smattering of freckles across his entire face & body, and lightly tanned skin showing off someone who enjoys the sun, he is considered very handsome by common society (out of courtly attire).

Child of the King & Queen, his twin sister died when they were both 8 in a tragic affair. After such, he was never allowed to leave the castle grounds again and he was forced to start wearing his "courtly attire" at his early age always and could not be seen without such by anyone other than his three personal servants & personal guard. Prince never got this officially confirmed (soberly), but based on a couple of his parent's reactions that he caught following his sister's funeral, part of the reason always has to wear courtly attire is due to his uncanny resemblance to his twin.

Resourceful, charismatic, with deep-rooted insecurities regarding his appearance & personality, this Prince Charming is a (not so?) eligible bachelor and is an absolute drag during tea parties. He thinks the entire concept is boring and overplayed amongst visiting guests at the palace. If you want to drink tea, eat snacks, and gossip and/or discreetly threaten people just do it on the couch! No need to dress up or act under the pretense of "common society manners". Just talk, damn it, and let people slouch!

Prince's Personal Guard: Her duty is to protect herself, her family, and her best friend. But each time she chooses to protect one, she somehow ends up sacrificing the others. Will she ever be able to match her values to her livelihood? Or will she forever be stuck pulling at the strings of fate, never getting the future she deserves.

20, AFAB, uses she/her pronouns at the beginning of the story. But, I'm feeling strong agender vibes with this one. On the asexual spectrum.

She is deaf and uses both the regional sign language and coded hand movements to communicate. She gave Prince his sign name, and hers was given to her by her teacher when she was younger.

She has short dirty-blond hair haphazardly swept back, stormy blue-grey eyes, and lightly tanned skin with splotches of bright red sunburns across her nose, cheeks, and forearms. Crossing through her left eye, in the shape of a crescent moon, sits a dark red & purple birthmark. It is often mistaken as a burn wound and as a child she would come up with grandiose stories about how she received her "scar". At most, one person in the city still believes that. Her well-built frame and broad shoulders contrasts her short 5'5" frame. She is stoic, protective, kind, and awkward around children (but children love her). Also, somehow, non-intimidating off-duty but piss her off and it's a whole other story.

Known around the tavern as a beer and ale connoisseur. Her interest began when she was 16 and worked as a server alongside Prince at the Tavern and the Tavern Barkeep asked her to cover for him when he had to handle a fight inside. Prince's Personal Guard would soon become a bartender and assist The Tavern Owner and Barkeep in brewing their own beers & ales in the back.

Once drank everyone in the tavern under the table and changed all their preconceived notions about her. Fully flushed red whilst doing so, but it was impressive nonetheless. Prince found it kinda hot.

The Consort: A harebell in a garden filled with creeping bellflower.

18, uses she/her pronouns at the beginning of the story, bisexual, Intersex but presented as female by her family (she was never allowed to consider otherwise, her parents have always had her bathe separately from her sisters since a young age).

5'9" with dark brown skin (which lightens in the winter), tightly-curled light brown hair which falls to the middle of her back, and blue-hazel eyes with amber sunbursts surrounding her pupils. She has a plush figure with prominent hips, and loves wearing frillier dresses in light pinks, whites, yellows, and oranges. The least constricting the dress (and undergarments) the better. She does also wish she could wear men's breeches outside of her fencing lessons. And she does so love those frilly little collars that men sometimes wear.

Harboring a secret fondness for Prince since childhood when he "saved" her life, when her family decided to put her sister forward as a possible consort to Prince, she begged with them to let her go in her sister's stead. It was a much better option than what she expected her family would eventually do - sell her off to some elderly rich man. They did not allow that. However, given that should she go, the family's odds of furthering their reputation in high society increased, her mother & father let her go with the stipulation that she compliment her sister's efforts instead of trying to get the Prince to be her own. She verbally agreed with their stipulations, but had never intended to follow them.

The gardens are her favorite place on her family's estate. They are large, sprawling, methodical, and filled with statues emulating realistic depictions of various Greek & Roman gods. There is a hedge maze off to the side (which she has absolutely tried to walk through while drunk) and in the center of the gardens lies a pond filled with lotus flowers surrounded by white benches and tall looming columns. It is the perfect place for contemplation. Or to push a sister. Not that she has done that of course. Throughout the gardens are yellow hyacinths, white primroses, purple tulips, and golden yellow daffodils. She has always liked to dance in the gardens, rain or shine, but particularly on clear moonlit nights. Her parents have repeatedly told her to stop doing this but gave up eventually.

Dream #2 Rough Notes Part 2

Now, general stuff to make sense of story here-forward (yes there are gaps to fill): 

Prince's parents (King & Queen) sent out their Knights to find Prince + Personal Guard and has posted a reward for any information about them alongside a sketch of their likenesses (Prince's based on Prince's servants' descriptions) everywhere within the kingdom.

Prince and Personal Guard travel to university, find housing in area, and begin their new lives. News about the neighboring country's Prince having gone missing is spread around with rumors abundant.

Prince has a younger sibling still back at the palace who is dealing with the aftermath of Prince's decisions and how that affects their family.

Consort travels to university and sets up their life.

Consort, Prince, and Personal Guard all meet again in passing in class. Rumors/gossip surrounding Consort spread about the university given Prince's recent disappearance. Cue internal freak out for Prince and Personal Guard. Consort has no clue that they met Prince and Personal Guard, given that they both looked different (courtly attire + non-dyed hair + PG's mask / etc.) in Consort's presence. Cue freak out plus plans A, B, C, etc etc. One of which included them pretending to be nonverbal around others from here on out to avoid their voice being recognized by Consort + crew.

Consort is bereft but keeping it together at university and traveled there alongside their personal servant (same age as Consort, raised alongside Consort, shy in public but bold with those close to her) & personal guard (middle-aged gruff dad but positive figure to Consort).

Prince & Personal Guard meet a classmate who is a drag queen and performs at the local tavern. *Exactly how that all happens and how they figure out classmate is drag queen up to later* Prince, having been forced to hide behind a courtly mask all their life to appease their parent's grief, combined with their makeup knowledge from doing courtly attire + acting/sneaking knowledge from the past 5 years, asks their drag queen classmate to help them make a drag persona. Choosing to don a new mask and personality in order for them to figure out their place in this new society + to cope with the fear of them being found out by Consort. A new face, new hair, new voice, a whole new them who isn't bogged down by the restraints Prince still finds in their new life that they had hoped in which they would find freedom. 

Drag Queen Classmate agrees to help Prince, and introduces them to another local bar where the drag & queer communities commune. Prince starts performing and discovering/exploring their drag personality. Personal Guard gets hired by drag bar as security.

Consort + their servant & guard stumble across the drag bar one night. They go in and Consort immediately connects & finds solace in the singing performance of Prince's drag personality. Consort + gang stay to enjoy other performances, Consort becoming increasingly intoxicated, and once Prince in Drag comes out to audience, Consort immediately rushes over + announces herself a fan and overshares to Prince in Drag. Consort's Personal Guard rushes as well to protect Consort, eventually suggests they head back to booth during Consort's babbling. Consort, dragging Prince in Drag back to their booth, now enfolds Prince in Drag into their group. Now Prince in Drag finds themself the (mostly) unwilling confident of their own Consort (who keeps whining about them! - Much to the chagrine of Consort's Personal Guard - ) and Prince's Personal Guard is stuck nearby thinking "should I go over and help them escape? Would that be too noticeable? Could they recognize me? It's a little funny how Prince looks so panicked next to a seriously drunk Consort... No wait I should save them! Etc." And then the rest of the story...is to be written from here.

I am totally imagining a throuple or a poly v triad forming between Prince + Prince's Personal Guard + Consort.

Dream #2 Rough Notes Part 1

In March 2026 as the world says "goodnight.", one dreamer comes across their next inspiration.....after reading a lot of BL...

Prince (? - gender unknown in story but royal next in line for crown) is forced by their parents to choose a consort to marry amongst X amount of individuals. Prince has never met any of them before this point. 

Prince also has to wear "courtly attire" (makeup + wig + etc. Basically unrecognizeable level from regular state) at all times since when they were young and their sister died, who looked exactly like them, so their parents forced them into wearing courtly attire earlier than usual within society because they couldn't handle seeing their face due to grief. Their sister died 10 years ago when they were 8, and their parents haven't seen them without the courtly attire since then. The only people who know what their face looks like currently are their 3 servants, Prince's younger sibling, one gate-minding knight (accidentally saw once alongside personal protector in their mask, pieced it together, and said absolutely nothing about it as he always pitied the Prince and thought they deserved to live as themselves a little), and Prince's personal protector/bodyguard knight who is always around them.

Prince chooses a consort, meets them (courtly attire for all), and their marriage is approved immediately. As part of pre-wedding usuals, Prince has to stay at their planned-to-be spouses house for X amount of time so both parties get used to each other. Unbeknownst to anyone else, Prince has been waiting for this day for a long time. 

Since they were 13, and their personal guard 15 (who always wore a mask while on duty to protect their identity - established norm for personal guards), Prince has been sneaking out of and around their palace grounds (with approval/accompaniment from personal guard after being caught near palace exit gate gardens a few weeks after first started sneaking around). With their personal guard's help (everyone in normalware ofc), what first began as just trips around town quickly became them becoming a part of the society outside their walls. They started going by a different name, their personal guard became "their best friend", they became friends with/recognized by locals, and at 14 started a job at the local tavern as a server alongside their "best friend". Prince earned money, hid it away in their room at the palace where no one would find it, and found a new "home" within that tavern. Meeting people from out of town, bonding with the town's people and becoming familiar with their wacky selves, and becoming close with the figure who owned the tavern as well as the barkeep (both middle-aged). This was the Prince's "true life" away from the stifling palace until the day they had to name their future spouse and leave to their consort's home. Prince quit their job, told the tavern-owners they were planning to go attend college, and left the tavern with a goodbye party. No one but the Prince and their personal guard knew the truth, Prince wasn't planning to stay at the estate long. They had packed their life's savings, all their clothes both courtly and not, all sentimental items, and was planning to run away. Specifically, they were planning to attend a college in the next country over alongside their personal guard, both under new names, and both of them now sporting fresh new hair cuts & hair dye.

The plan succeeded. They both left the consort's grounds after 10 days there and began their travels. Prince left a note for their parents in their room on the consort's grounds to be found by their servants saying they had left. And Prince's personal guard had a note sent to their parent's house stating "left with (insert their nickname for Prince). Sorry for the late notice. I promise it's worth it. XOXO - your son."

The consort was left bereft and confused. Having looked forward to learning more about Prince and marrying them. Both due to their family's pressures on "upping their status" and an incident from their past as children where the Prince "saved them". Little did the consort know, that in a month's time, they would be meeting the Prince again. At university. The consort had been accepted to the same university as Prince, but having been chosen as consort, declined the invitation. Now that Prince was awol, Consort sent a letter to the university seeing if the invitation was still open and now would be attending there in the upcoming term.

Medium: Leaning towards Interactive Fiction (IF) even though I don't know how to code lol and have absolutely no computer science background. Might be time to learn a new skill I guess! Alongside the learning/practicing writing part lol.

Random Notes:

New "drawn towards" type: drawn towards ghosts who scare because they have to. Because they need to. Whether they do so out of playfulness, fascination, or active malice - they can't help themselves from drawing their victims into webs of traps and games.

If this does end up an IF, I am considering letting the reader choose the MC's "drawn towards" type and then altering how the story goes, the characters meet, etc. from that. This dream is basically the starting point/opening case for the rest of the story and I think it's a possible adjustment that would also be worth it for the additional replayability and flavor text for the readers.

If an IF, I am putting in flavor text for the reader to choose whether the MC is knowledgeable about and enjoys perfume/scents cause I do and it's fun for me to play with.

Questions for YOU ALL:

Does it make more sense if MC's Best Friend comes along with MC when visiting the young ghost boy in Hot Fashionable Man's closet?

I feel like she would be more used to dealing with sensitive emotional states and given such, wouldn't just send MC (a stranger to the boy) over there alone.

2. And if she does come with, should she stay for the entire scene or dip before they need to hide from Hot Fashionable Man?
