I always see that shit on social media and you wonder why I act the way I do. I fucking hate this.

I don’t know why I’ve been so negative and not really liking life so much lately. 

I haven’t been myself at all, and you don’t seem to notice or care. I wish I could just brush it off like everyone else but I just can’t and I know that’s not me.

But I’m happy you’re really liking life right now.

God wants you. He doesn’t want your offerings, He doesn’t want your bloody fingers worked to the bone. He doesn’t want your solid Christian answers. Your good deeds, while appreciated, are not the things that God yearns for. 

He wants you. He wants your broken heart. He wants your sharp pieces, shards from a shattered past. He wants those secrets you hide behind that curtain of grief. He wants all of those shameful things you’ve done. He wants all of those aching, desperate thoughts that run through your mind just before you drift off to sleep. He wants all of those scars you cover up. He wants your anxiety, your depression, your questions, your anger, your hurt, your pain; He wants all of the things that make you you. 

He doesn’t just love the good parts of you, tidy and on display… He loves the messy parts of you, too.  There is nothing He has not seen. There will never be anything that He has not known. 

God loves you. God wants you, bruised and fractured and aching. 

He loves you so much. He wants you to come home so badly. Take up root again, stretch out your arms - God wants you. God loves you.  Brokenness included.
