When I first

When I first learnt about body image, I had already wanted to be skinny.

When I first heard my mother call herself fat, I knew I needed to stay skinny.

When I first withheld a meal for myself, I promised I would stay skinny.

When I first purged a meal, I promised I would keep trying to reach my goal

When I first went a day without eating, I knew I was getting close.

When I first fainted from not eating I was proud.

I’m so sad for that little girl.

I’m so grateful I got out.

So grateful to be alive.
