Soooooo there's this We Can Jayvik Anything event over on Bluesky (@ella376.bsky.social for anyone interested) and I made this for the first prompt, "media", where I took Jayvik and shoved them in Houseki no Kuni

Modern Runeterra AU -- Jayce and Viktor are climate scientists who end up in a situationship. One morning after Viktor stayed over at Jayce's house, Jayce finds Viktor packing up two backpacks. Jayce asks where they're going and Viktor says off planet. Jayce is confused and asked if Viktor smoked a little too much the night before (Viktor packs special brownies btw). Viktor says 'no, but you won't believe me until we actually leave', then proceeds to explain the situation while Jayce puts on some coffee (Viktor grabbing the travel mugs for them and Jayce goes along with it). Essentially, Runeterra had racked up a fine for the amount of planetary pollution it has gathered and a group of intergalactic revenue enforcers are on their way to basically plunder the planet for its natural resources, even though the actual fine is just 10 valors, which are now old coins that are rarely used. Jayce mentions that his father had actually collected them and had 30, but is growing a bit concerned about Viktor. Viktor tells Jayce that he can grab them if he likes, but they need to hurry if they want to catch a ride on an interstellar travelling carnival that's taking a 'backroad' through the universe by going just past their solar system.

Jayce is skeptical of Viktor, but goes along with it as Viktor pours their coffees into the travel mugs and is handed one of his red-and-gold towels along with his packed backpack, mostly tagging along with Viktor to make sure he doesn't get into anything dangerous while he seems to be out of his mind but also up for a little adventure. They end up in a hangar that Viktor has keys to (which he drops on a table because he doesn't need them anymore) and find an old campervan (an old omni-terrain campervan) that Viktor has been slowly working on repairing. Jayce is impressed and suggests that maybe he should drive, but Viktor, a bit exasperated, says that Jayce does not have his pilots license and the van is just fixed up enough to get them to the interstellar travelling carnival. Jayce asks to see Viktor's licence and if the group knows they're coming. Viktor shows him something that looks like a thin card you get at an arcade and is told 'of course not'.

Viktor gets into the driver's side and Jayce goes to get into the passenger's side when Viktor says 'now's your last chance to back out'. Jayce is confused, Viktor packed a bag for him but is giving him a strange warning. Jayce takes a leap of faith and gets on anyway. They head out easily enough down a back road while Viktor fiddles with and listens intently to the radio, but it's all just strange electric chatter. Then when they get to a clearing, Viktor hits the gas to speed up. When they hit the middle of the clearing, he hits a green button that shoots them into space at essentially light speed (leaving an interesting geometric pattern in the ground).

When they get to the edge of their galaxy, Viktor hands Jayce a bucket and paper bag. While Jayce manages his nerves, Viktor maneuvers the van into what looks like a tiny hole in a large spaceship.

Jayce asks Viktor how he knows about all of this and Viktor says he was on a planet called Earth that was extra high tech and was already spreading out from their planet. Yet their pollution was wracking up payment as well and then was essentially raided by the intergalactic revenue enforcers. He had managed to sneak out onto one of the big ships and hitchhiked through the universe until he found the campervan and got his license. It had done him well until he crashlanded on Runeterra, then went into the same type of job as he'd had on Earth to try and save this new planet (and had also, of course, run into Jayce and started a tentative situationship). Yet, once he heard that the intergalactic revenue enforcers was on its way, he started planning a way out, then decided to take a chance on leaving with Jayce.

From there, the two proceeded on their adventure: hopping from ship-to-ship and planet-to-planet, ending up in strange places, getting upset with each other before crashlanding onto a planet where the hotels all only have one bed, going to a dealership planet to replace the campervan and spending a whole two days there, along with other shenanegry while trying to get to a government office that would accept their valors before the intergalactic revenue enforcers raided Runeterra. (The coins, of course, would also get lost in the strangest of places along the way and when they managed to find one place that would take their last 10 valors, the due had increased to 11. They despaired and grieved for a few hours until Viktor remembered that he actually had one, but had forgotten about it because he'd just kept it for the novelty. After frantically searching for it, they just made their way back to the building before it closed and someone was able to call off the raid and route the intergalactic revenue enforcers to a different planet.)

✮ Guide to Alt Text ✮

✮ Alt text is used to describe images. It’s most commonly used to accommodate screen readers for the visually impaired by describing the image. However, alt text is helpful not just for the disabled, but for everyone to add additional context.
