Stake Out, Break Out [ Junseok x Kou ]
She finally takes her eyes off the spot and towards her partner, blinking a bit before rubbing her eyes. They felt dry; there’s no way she was just staring for four hours straight. Though, knowing her, it’d be a possibility. “Sorry, no, I’m fine.” She states, cringing at keep the attempt at a conversation short. It was just in her nature to be like that. Maybe he was already used to it, but that doesn’t mean she should keep acting like that. Being normal means talking; just be careful about what the conversation will lead to.
She cracks the window a little bit, not wanting to much of a crack that could give someone a clear view of who’s inside. “I just… I’m starting to get a bad feeling,” she mentions, staring at the building once more and rolling the window back up. Stake outs usually take much longer than a measly four hours, it’s honestly not that long, however, today just seems… Wrong.
What was going on inside? Who’s supposed to show up? No one of noticed had shown up yet, no one they talked to about the case. “Do you think… There’s another entrance?” She wonders; easily, the suspects they were looking for could go through somewhere else.
✘ —— Dark eyes narrowed at the mention of a bad feeling. Shoulders stiffen and his arm had flinched up, fingers grasping the door handle. It appeared he would escape the vehicle at any given time. The impulsion had hindered his senses temporarily; a habit that had only grown stronger over the years, similar to his strange stubbornness, since he always felt there was more to do, something that he believed could be fixed by working endlessly. Turning to face his partner once more, a silent reminder interrupts his thoughts to remain still -- to hear her out.
“Another entrance...” he repeated, dumbfounded.
Throwing his attention back across the street, he takes a deep breath, scrutinizing the scenery. Junseok is quiet until he exhaled sharply. He hadn’t thought of it or the chance that their suspects had slipped under their radar.
“You’re onto something,” taking his hand away from the door handle, he checks the equipment he had underneath his large coat. “And it’s something we should check out.” After all, he trusts her word over everyone else’s. “Alright?” Set on continuing their mission on foot, he still needed her cooperation, thus waiting for a confirmation.

“it’s not the first time i lost a girl to a cowboy spraying cologne.”
✘ —— He isn’t sure how to comprehend the comment from the younger. His brows knitted together, lips slightly apart as if he were going to speak, but being flabbergasted had prevented him from doing so. It was strange and out of the blue. Regardless of how odd it is to hear, he couldn’t help to feel compelled to listen.
“Damn, that sucks…” Hardly a comforting statement. “I’ll keep that in mind if I ever run into a cowboy spraying cologne – walk the other way, especially if you don’t want to lose a girl.” Still perplexed, his tone had lightened, now blended in with amusement. “If you’re a writer, that’ll make one hell of a story or song. You can get rich off of it. Possibly. Never know.”
She had noe idea how she got herself in this situation. Blood on the floor, someone being carried away as she herself sat down in a slight daze. Some policemen had come by to ask her questions but she frankly couldn't give any answer that made any sense. After all she had simply been on her way home as someone literally fell before her eyes. "I honestly did not see anything else than the guy fall down to the floor sir." Though the policeman by her side seemed to not fully believe her story.
✘ —— The entire location of the crime had been closed off from citizens, except for those who were involved with the law and forensics. Policemen started the task of taping off the area, pinpointing the extent of the boundary of the crime, where the blood had splattered and where the victim had fallen. One single officer began taking photographs, ensuring the evidence would not be mishandled during their duration of the task, but it was needed for their case. A few others had paired off, walking along the scene to pick up any stray clues that could have been missed, or writing down important notes.
“Really. I know it might have been traumatic to see,” the policeman spoke, attempting to keep their skepticism hidden in their tone, but failed, “but I advise you to think harder. Had anyone passed you on your way here–”
“Now, now, please give the young lady some proper time to think,” interrupted an older detective, Nam Junseok, who had approached the pair with a solemn expression. He had been walking around the area, writing down his own notes, then observing the crime scene. He had spotted the conversing and felt the need to interject, as he was one of the senior detectives for this case.
“Please, Mr Yu, I can take over this conversation. Take your partner with you.” Junseok gave a firm nod, looking at one police officer than the other. His tone had been friendly, but it did not meet his eyes. Already, the case had affected his train of thought. It wouldn’t leave until he found a way to close the case.
The policemen bowed their head. Before turning to leave with their partner, Mr Yu had glanced at the female, eyes squinted, appearing cynical.
“I apologize, where are my manners? I am Detective Nam. I understand that this can be difficult to handle,” Junseok spoke once the policemen had left to assist another detective, lowering his eyes to the female, “and that you may be feeling over-whelmed. However, you are our only witness. I hope that you are thinking of participating in interviews that I will be providing. We will not disclose your name to the public, if that is a worry.” He paused, speaking in a normal pace to not confuse her. “Now, Miss…–” He trailed off, awaiting for her to provide a name.
The older man had wanted to see if she can speak, what state she could be in. By doing so, he’ll have the ability to observe her further, perhaps pick up some clues. After all, no one on the team wasn’t entirely certain if she was the perpetrator. He was being careful.

❝ I was trying to spare your feelings ❞
✘ —— He had been quiet, sitting in a chair a short distance away, and remained closed off from further conversing. Concentrating on the cell phone’s screen, he absorbed small pieces of information related to work, nothing of interest or new although it was sufficient as distraction.
“Did you take my silence as a sign of discomfort?” He inquired, finally peeling his attention away from his cell phone. Brows quirked, he studied the other carefully, lowering the object to rest on his thigh. “My feelings aren’t easily hurt - I’m not some whiny kid who cries at every chance he gets.” A small laugh had escaped his lips, shoulders shaking only slightly.
If he was younger, or even lacked the emotional capability of handling honesty, he would have sulked and thought of leaving. This was not the case. After years of facing nothing but the cruel light of honesty, Junseok understood how to walk through it. He had grown thick skin. Even if it did sting every now and then -- the very reason for his silence for the past moment, although he would never admit it --, he was too damn stubborn to throw in the towel. The detective kept his focus on the other, contemplating of what to say next, until he finally looked away. Propping his right elbow on the chair’s arm, a fist is formed before an index finger is pressed into his forehead’s temple. He sighed while his eyes closed tightly, muttering about kids always giving him headaches.
Stake Out, Break Out [ Junseok x Kou ]
She became a cop to do good in the world. To contradict the evil blood in her that constantly wants to be released into the world and wreak havoc. It’s one of the reasons why she loves stakeouts. It helps to keep her under control. But it also makes her one of the worst conversational partners.
Kou was concentrated as she stared at the building she and her partner, Junseok were staking out. She was always the silent type, watching and observing, trying to get in every little detail. Sometimes, the details she would spot would be too precise that she even scares herself to think that she spotted it. Or if at one point she had accidentally used her powers.
“Four hours…” she mutters, not wanting to take her eyes away, even for a moment.

✘ —— His head is turned to the right, studying the edge of the property with a solemn expression. Shifting his body to the direction he was focused on, leaning against the vehicle’s door for support. He could feel his back muscles stretch whilst doing so and he sighed. Not wanting to give up or admit exhaustion, an attempt is made to search for any oddities in the scenery. Nevertheless, Junseok suspected something to happen -- at least, he wanted to believe they’ll have something to end the stake out. Even after years on the job, the anticipation is an emotion he hadn’t grown accustomed to. He couldn’t blame that side of him. No one can predict what would happen, every case can be different with various outcomes.
“Hm?” his eyes look up, scanning the building’s height. Then, he looked at his partner. “I was wondering when you were going to talk.” he teased lightly. The silence didn’t bother him, although there were moments he pondered if the other is alright. Rather than questioning her state, he remained quiet, not wanting to smother with comments she may not prefer.
“If you’re getting tired or it’s stuffy in here,” he waved his hand in a small semi-circle motion in front of him, “you can open the window. The air is chilly today, so it might help.”Junseok straightened his posture, leaning back into the seat, doubtful if his comment was even helpful. He stared ahead at the building, watching the main entrance. It had been a few hours since a person left the property’s location, or even entered. He felt restless at the realization now.
