John “Jack” Nelson III was born with what most people would say a silver spoon in his mouth but that was never something he let get to him. He was never one for his family’s way or ideals, they were rich and liked to make sure everyone around them knew it. His mother a retired ballet dancer turned socialite, and father President and CEO of CMD LLC were not your traditional parents so the children spent their time with multitudes of Nannies. His favorite nanny Lisa would read stories to him and helped grow a love for books and reading in him. However being the only boy out of the four Nelson children there was a certain expectation, and it was an expectation Jack was not worried about meeting. His three sisters all younger than him were held to their own expectations, he was the one who would be running the company when they got older. As he got older would bring him to events, showing him the responsibilities he would one day have. He was excited about his future and ready to be an adult and run the company. School was never an issue for him either and eventually was accepted to Stanford, and Yale. He wanted to go to Stanford because a part of him loved reading and they had a great English Literature program he wanted to minor in. His father however pushed him towards Yale, telling him that place would be the place to set him up to the company in the future. While attending Yale he could help out in their New York office gaining experience.
Once College was over it was time for the real world, and he was ready to work hard for the company, until he met Serena. Your first love is always intense, and that was what she was to him. Growing up he had no time for girls between school, and sports. HIt was an arrangement made between their parents. He was ready to be completely against the idea but he couldn’t. She was everything he wished he was, and learning about how she went against her parents only made him admire her more. The four years they spent together he was the happiest he’d been for as long as he could remember. Them being together made him want to think about his other dreams and be something else instead of the man his parents wanted him to be. She blindsided him with the breakup.
After Serena ended things he was distraught he had never expected for that to happen, he loved her more than anything and was willing to do anything to keep her in his life. He had spent most of his life prepared for problem solving and thinking on his feet but this wasn’t something he could fix. She wanted out and she got what she wanted. After their breakup he moved back and threw himself into his work with his father, doing everything his father wanted, he was in Seattle everyday working at the copy. His father saw the growth and knew it was time to give him more. His father made him COO which his father planned for him to work until he was ready to retire. Jack moved to Seattle when that happened, wanting to cut down on the commute to the office. He had finally forgotten about his heart for a bit until he met Sarah. He fell in love hard with Sarah, and she wasn’t perfect but her imperfections made him love her even more. Within six months of them seeing each other she got pregnant and he learned about how she had been a recovering addict. They were not ready for the baby, and when he family found out he had gotten her pregnant and she did not come from the kind of background he did they were furious. How could he be so stupid? This was going to ruin his life, but their opinions changed when Noah Nelson made her appearance earth side.
That little girl changed his world, he finally had someone in his life who loved him unconditionally and he wanted to protect her. Everything is his life was finally perfect until Noah was 3 months old, Sarah and him were sleep deprived and stressed as Noah was struggling with a double ear infection. It took him some time to figure out Sarah had relapsed, and by the time he had made a plan to address it she was gone. He took Noah in for her six month appointment and came home to a half empty apartment and a note. It was a simple note that only read “I can’t do this anymore I’m sorry.” Another woman he had loved abandoned him, and the feeling was back, something he had hated feeling. Being a single parent to Noah was his hardest job yet, and for awhile he struggled. Now years later his little girl is two and he’s working as COO waiting for his father to step down.
