How I Would Put Seulgi, Momo, Mina, and Lisa in a Sub-Unit: Reasoning
*Positions
Vocal Positions:
Main Vocalist: Seulgi is clearly the best vocalist here. Itâs not even close to being a competition. Even though she is a Lead Vocalist in Red Velvet, she could easily be a Main in most other groups! (In Blackpink, she would 100% be the only Main Vocalist and in Twice, she and Jihyo would both be Main Vocalists!)
Lead Vocalist: Mina does have some problems, mostly with projection and power in her voice, but she is clearly the 2nd best vocalist here. She should be a Lead Vocalist in Twice and she could be a Lead Vocalist in a lot of other groups as well!Â
Sub Vocalist: Momo and Lisa are pretty interchangeable, especially with Momoâs improvement in the past years and a half (Since about I Canât Stop Me Era). However, neither of them are even average vocalist and neither would have a Lead Vocalist position.Â
Rap Positions:
Main Rapper: Lisa is the clear choice for this, seeing as she is the only person here who has shown genuine rap experience! (I mean that in the since that Seulgi has never rapped and Momo and Mina barely rap in songs). She also has the best technical ability in terms of rap here.
Lead Rapper: Momo does have some trouble with Korean pronunciation, but overall she is a good rapper and should be applauded for her rapping.Â
Sub Rapper: Mina has rapped in some of Twiceâs songs and it has been pretty good. I feel like she would mostly just rap in b-side and not title tracks, though!
Non-Rapper: The only thing Seulgi has done that is close to rapping, is her beginning verse in Happiness (Red Velvetâs debut song). Other than that, she has not rapped at all!
Dance Positions:
Main Dancer: Momo is the best dancer here, having little to no problems in her performances. Watching her fancams, she doesnât under or over dance (Just because she has lots of energy, does not mean she isnât hitting her movements!). All of her moves are so calculated and she knows how to distribute her energy while performing so well! She also heavily improved on her freestyle since debut!
Lead Dancer: Lisa and Seulgi are relatively interchangeable in terms of dance, so I gave them both a position. They both have a big weakness in terms of dancing (Lisa with her stiff torso and Seulgi with her lack of flexibility), but they round out each other enough to make them a perfect pair!
Non-Dancer: The only reason Mina does not have a dance position is because Seulgi and Lisa are on a higher level than she is. Mina thrives in softer concepts and songs, but with the members in this group, they wouldnât be focusing on that.
Other Positions:
Leader: Seulgi is the oldest member, trained the longest of the 4, and she is the only Korean member. Since this is suppose to be a k-pop group, I figured that might be a key factor!
Visual: Mina fits almost all the KBS and she has gorgeous visuals as well! Momo also fits most of the KBS, so I added her as a visual too!
Center: This was one of the hardest positions to choose (Basically between Lisa and Momo), I choose Momo because I already gave Lisa the FOTG position. The main difference between their stage presence is that Momoâs is more natural and Lisaâs is kind of manufactured (But she still looks good on stage, so I shouldnât be complaining!)
Face of the Group: Lisa is easily the most popular member here. While she doesnât have the best reputation, she would fit this groups image and concept the best.
Main Vocalist: Jeongyeon is the only vocal line member here, and could easily be a Main Vocalist in most groups. There is really no reason she shouldnât be the Main Vocalist here!
Lead Vocalist: Mina has become an amazing vocalist, working on her technique and vocal support. She could be a lead vocalist of Twice and she has also become a more confident vocalist, with projecting her voice more!
Sub Vocalist: Tzuyu has improved the most out of Twice, since there debut. However, she is still the weakest here. But since she is both the best rapper and the 2nd best dancer, she probably wonât be focusing on singing as much.
Rap Positions
Main Rapper: This is the only group that doesnât have a rapper from Twice, however, Tzuyu has shown great rapping in lighter concepts and songs. Originally, I wasnât going to have rap positions, but since 1, 3, 2 has rap parts, I added them.
Lead Rapper: Mina took the Main rap part in 1, 3, 2 and she also rapped in Perfect World and it was very good! Mina is an all rounder and hopefully in this sub unit, more people will notice that!
Sub-Rapper: Jeongyeon hadnât rapped before this song (At least a good rap!), but she shows promise. I hope she will get a better chance to show that she can actually rap.
Dance Positions
Main Dancer: Mina is the Main Dancer of Twice, and although she is not the best, she is good enough for a group that will have soft/light dances.
Lead Dancer: Tzuyu is the 2nd best dancer here and a Lead Dancer in Twice as well. I donât really see a reason to take that away.
Non-Dancer: Jeongyeon is kind of a weak dancer, but like I said for Mina, they will most likely be having soft or light dances, which hopefully will show more of Jeongyeonâs potential.
Other Positions
Leader: Jeongyeon got the 2nd most votes for Leader (After Jihyo of course!) and there isnât any reason to take that away from her. Also, this is supposed to be a K-pop group and Jeongyeon is the only Korean member!
Visual: Tzuyu is the visual of Twice already and fits the majority of the KBS. Both Mina and Jeongyeon could also be visuals in another group, however in this group, they donât fit the KBS better than Tzuyu.
Center: Center was a very hard position to choose, seeing as how Mina, Jeongyeon, and Tzuyu are 3/4 of the worst performers in Twice. I was mainly going between Jeongyeon and Tzuyu, Tzuyu has really good body language, but her facials are almost always blank. Jeongyeon is very inconsistent, but when sheâs feeling herself, she is amazing! Overall, I picked Jeongyeon for her facial expressions on stage.
Face of the Group: Again, this could be any of the three. I picked Mina because she is currently in the group and hasnât had a major scandal. While she is very quiet, I donât really think itâs that important.
Maknae: Tzuyu is the youngest here by about 2 years.
Main Vocalist: Nayeon already has the lines of a Main Vocalist and is easily the best vocalist here. While she does need some overall technique changes, she will be an amazing main vocalist for this sub unit!
Lead Vocalist: Chaeyoung honestly has one of the best techniques in Twice (After the vocal line). She does have some problems in her vocal structure, but she is the 2nd best vocalist here.
Sub Vocalist: Momo definitly has improved from More & More era, but she still lacks the overall vocal quality of a good singer. However, when she is singing in her lower register, it is amazing!
Rap Positions
Main Rapper: Chaeyoung is already the Main Rapper of Twice, so there isnât really a reason to not give her the Main Rapper here.
Lead Rapper: Momo is a sub rapper in Twice, but she is easily the second best rapper here. She also had a lot of rap lines in Hello, so it would make since there as well.
Sub-Rapper: Nayeon also rapped in Hello and she has rapped a few times, in Twiceâs career. A sub rapper position would be great for her to get to explore her skill level.
Dance Positions
Main Dancer: Momo is already the Main Dancer of Twice and is one of the best Main Dancers in the industry! There are very few people who are better dancers than Momo.
Lead Dancer: Nayeon has a Lead Dancer position in Twice, and while she isnât one of the best leader dancers ever, she is a good dancer and deserves this position.
Non-Dancer: Chaeyoung is one of, if not the weakest, dancer in Twice. However, she is an amazing rapper and a solid vocalist, so her talents are in other places!
Other Positions
Leader: Nayeon is the oldest, trained the longest, and is probably the most mature out of these 3. Also, more recently, she has been leading Twiceâs interviews lately, which is a good point as well!
Visual: While Momo and Nayeon are close, Momo fits more of the points than Nayeon. Nayeon also misses the big eyes and she has hooded eyelids, to Momo only not having heart shaped lips.
Center: Like the visual position, this was going to be between Nayeon and Momo, but I gave it to Momo, as her stage presence is normally elevated doing more mature or darker concepts.
Face of the Group: I donât think Nayeon has had a single scandal, she is one of the most popular members (And the most popular in this line up), and she is also Twiceâs Face of the Group already.
Maknae: Chaeyoung is the youngest by about 3 years.
Main Vocalist: Jihyo is already the Main Vocalist in Twice and she is the best vocalist here by miles. She is the only member of this sub unit who has a solid technique, amazing support, and she is incredibly stable.
Lead Vocalist: Sana has improved a lot and has gotten a solid support system (Despite not having the best technique.) She also has become one of the most stable members of Twice (Outside of the vocal line) and she should be applauded more for her vocal ability.
Sub Vocalist: Dahyuns main position is for rap, although she has definitly improved her vocals since debut. She doesnât have a solid technique or good support, but her voice is perfect for verses and bridges!
Rap Positions
Main Rapper: Dahyun is the only one here that has rap lines and she is the only one in the rap line. She is a great rapper, and for this sub unit especially. Since they will most likely have a cuter or lighter sound, her rap will hopefully be appreciated more.
Lead Rapper: Sana has rapped a few times and while she isnât a extremely great rapper, she is good enough for a Lead Rapper (In this group).
Sub-Rapper: Jihyo having rap parts in this song put her from not having a rap position to being a sub rapper. If we were going based on this songs raps, she would be a sub rapper, but since this should also be based on skill, she is a sub.
Dance Positions
Main and Lead Dancer: This was an extremely close call, but since Sana has more sloppy movements, I did give the Main to Jihyo. I think Sana could be a Main Dancer, but in Twice, she is the 4th best dancer. However, both Sana and Jihyo have amazing stage presence that makes them stand out in their own areas!
Non-Dancer: Dahyun is not a bad dancer, not by a long shot. However, when compared to both Jihyo and Sana, she does fall short in most technical areas. (Although she did get so much better in 2020 and is good enough to be a Lead Dancer!)
Other Positions
Leader: Jihyo is the leader of Twice as a whole and I see no reason to change that.
Visual: Sana fits the KBS the best of these girls. She also is almost always regarded as one of the most gorgeous members in Twice!
Center: Jihyo rarely has a bad performance and she consistently shows passion for performing. I can not find a bad performance of her since 2018!
Face of the Group: Jihyo hasnât had the best reputation and she also is one of the least popular members. This was really between Dahyun and Sana, but I gave it to Dahyun because I feel like she has brought a lot of people into Twice due to her personality. She also has a flawless reputation.
Maknae: Dahyun is the youngest here, by about a year.
If Soyeon, Winter, Nayeon, and Jennie were in a Sub-Unit: Reasoning
*Positions
Vocal Positions
Main Vocalist: This was fully between Nayeon and Winter, but I gave the Main position to Winter because she has the wider range (only by a little) and she has a better stamina when singing. And although Aespa doesnât really sing live, but from the few stages we have seen of them singing, Winter is slightly above Nayeon.
Lead Vocalist: Nayeon is close to Winterâs level and they have a similar technique (both focusing their voices in the nasal register), but she hasnât shown enough of solid support to be above Winter (As of currently).
Sub Vocalists: Jennie and Soyeon are both good vocalists, but neither of them are better than (or on the same level) Winter or Nayeon.
Rap Positions
Main Rapper: Thereâs honestly no debate that Soyeon is the best female rapper in Kpop. She has amazing stamina, an smooth flow, and she is the fastest female Kpop rapper. She also writes most of her raps, which gives her a connection to her rap parts.
Lead Rapper: Jennie is still an amazing rapper, but compared to Soyeon, she would be better suited as a Lead Rapper. (Also, this group would have the strongest female rap line in Kpop history!)
Sub Rappers: Both Winter and Nayeon can rap well, although Winter is better. I figured they would both have rap lines, but they would mainly focus on vocals.
Dance Positions
Main Dancer: Winter and Nayeon are both pretty average lead dancers, but Nayeon improved heavily. Not only is overall body movement, but also in her body language when dancing, making her overall performance both easy and nice to watch.
Lead Dancer: Winter is also a good dancer, but she has a stiff torso, as well as her hips. She also shows problems with her extended arm and leg movements. And when compared to Nayeon, she has a lot less stamina.
Non-Dancers: Jennie and Soyeon are both similar to Winter, but they both have individual problems that make there dancing sloppy. If another person would get a dance position, it would be Soyeon.
Other Positions
Leader: I think Nayeon, Jennie, or Soyeon would make a good leader. I choose Soyeon because she is the most mature of the 3, she rarely needs to be taken care of, and she helped her group through the times they had in 2021 and she would be carrying that into any group sheâs apart of.
Visual: Winter fits the KBS almost perfectly, only missing the golden ratio and the height point. (Plus half a point, since her lips are relatively thin).
Center: Soyeon has some of the best and most consistent stage presence in kpop as a whole. Jennie and Nayeon both have good stage presence as well, but compared to Soyeon, they fall short.
Face of the Group: Jennie is insanely popular and while her reputation isnât the best, I feel like she would represent this group with her versality and popularity.
Maknae: Winter is the youngest in this group by about 3 years. She was botn in 2001, while the 2nd youngest, Soyeon, was born in 1998.
Main Vocalist:Â Wendy is clearly the best vocalist here, having the widest range, best support, and rarely shows issues with straining. Her biggest flaw is not always being the most stable, but it doesnât always happen.
Lead Vocalist:Â Jihyo has had the most improvement of these 3, going from a average Main Vocalist to one of the female best Vocalists of the 3rd generation. But she is a lead, because she is not exactly on the same level as Wendy.
Rapper: Wendy has rapped well before and while I assume she wonât be rapping a lot in the group (Seeing as they are purely vocal and dance based), I gave her a rapper position for her skill level.
Main Dancer:Â Jihyo has the technique of a Main Dancer and is the only one in Twice that matches Momoâs level of energy. While she does sometimes over dance, she doesnât go off beat or miss moves. She also has the best technique, in terms of overall movements, of these 3.
Non-Dancer:Â Wendy is easily the worst dancer here, but she has improved heavily from her debut. Her biggest problem is her lack of control, which leads to sloppy arm and leg movements and weak torso control.
Main Vocalists: Solar and Wheein have been the best vocalists since Mamamoo debuted. They both have amazing technique, hardly any straining, and they both have wide extended vocal ranges that let them hit higher notes. Even though Mamamoo is a group of 4, it felt better that they would have 2 Mains, seeing how close they are in overall vocal ability.
Lead Vocalist: Hwasa has been the 3rd best vocalist since debut and has the 2nd most overall lines. She also could easily be the Main Vocalist in a lot of other group, but in Mamamoo, sheâs not on the same level as Solar and Wheein.
Sub Vocalist: Most of Moonbyulâs lines are rap, although she does have some vocal lines. Even if she had more rap lines, she is still the weakest vocalist in Mamamoo.
Rap Positions
Main Rapper: Moonbyul is basically the only one in Mamamoo that still raps and she is amazing at it. She is easily one of the best female rappers in kpop.
Lead Rapper: Hwasa mainly focuses on vocals nowadays, but she is still a pretty good rapper.Â
Non-Rappers: Solar and Wheein barely rap in general (especially in Mamamooâs songs), so it wouldnât make sense to give them a sub rapper position. If I was going to give someone a sub rapper position, it would be Wheein as she is the 3rd best rapper in Mamamoo.
Dance Positions
Main Dancer:Â Wheein is a great overall dancer, having incredible body control, insane fluidity, and has great footwork. Wheeinâs main flaw in dancing is her extended movements, as they can make her dancing look sloppy and less powerful. She also is more of a dancer than a performer and is often seen with no expression on stage. However, since Wheein would be considered the better dancer, she is the Main Dancer.
Lead Dancer: Moonbyul is by no means a bad dancer, but she does have lower consistency than Wheein, as well as less versatility. Also, along with Solar, Moonbyul is the most likely to underdance. Since Wheein has less technical issues, she is not the Main Dancer.
Non-Dancers: Hwasa and Solar both heavily rely on their stage presence to elevate their performances instead of actual dancing skills. Hwasa lacks consistency, she can have messy placements, and is most likely to tense up during dancer. Solar has the worst technique in Mamamoo and is most likely to under dance. Overall, neither of them are at the same level of Moonbyul and Wheein.
Other Positions:
Leader: Mamamoo already has a leader.
Visual: Solar fits the KBS the best and she kind of is the only one in Mamamoo that fits enough of the KBS to hold the visual position.
Center: Hwasa has one of the best stage presenceâs in kpop and she is center a lot of the time anyway.
Face of the Group: Solar has consistently been one of the most popular members of Mamamoo and she is the most well liked member of Mamamoo as well.
Maknae: Hwasa is the youngest in the group by about 3 months.
How I Would Put Chaeyoung, Mina, Moonbyul, Yuqi, and Joy in a Sub-Unit: Reasoning
*Positions
Vocal Positions
Main Vocalist: Joy, being an SM vocalist, has an amazing technique when singing (although she does tend to go up in her nasal register when singing high notes). She has a solid range, is incredibly stable, and almost always stays in tune.
Lead Vocalists: I know that having 3 people as Lead Vocalists is a bit much, but all 3 girls are extremely similar in overall technique. For Yuqi, her best quality is her tuning and her lower register (Plus, I would die to have her vocal tone). For Mina, she has improved the most out of these 3, getting better vocal projection while still maintaining proper tuning and stability. For Chaeyoung, she is the weakest of these 3, but has the best technique (although itâs not always used properly). They all have different qualities that complement each other well, so I figured I should have them all in lead vocalist positions.
Sub Vocalist: Moonbyul is probably the weakest vocalist her, but that's ok because she is still good for a sub. She also mainly focuses in rapping.Â
Rap Positions
Main Rapper: Moonbyul is one of the best active rappers in the industry and one of the fastest as well. She has an amazing technique, a versatile rapping tone, and she writes almost all of her raps, which gives her a stronger connection to what she is rapping.Â
Lead Rapper: Chaeyoung is a much better rapper than people give her credit for. She has amazing flow, technique, and she almost never has breath control problems. The main reason sheâs not the Main Rapper is because her tone is not versatile and we havenât seen her rap for long durations, so itâs hard to tell if she can handle that.
Sub Rappers: Honestly, everyone in this group is good at rapping. Yuqi is the strongest sub rapper, but sheâs not at the same level that Chaeyoung is, so she wouldnât be a Lead Rapper. For Joy and Mina, they are at similar levels, but they would also both focus on singing over rapping.
Dance Positions
Main Dancer: This was mainly between Moonbyul and Mina, but I gave it to Mina because Moonbyul doesnât do well outside of hip hop styles. Mina can blend through styles pretty well, and while she doesnât always grab the audiences attention, she has the best technical skills of everyone on this list.
Lead Dancers: Moonbyul is easily the 2nd best dancer here and is almost tied with Mina for Main Dancer, but since Mina has a higher level of versatility and has better flow when switching genres, Moonbyul will be an amazing lead Dancer.
Non-Dancers: Chaeyoung and Joy are both technically weak dancers and there are much better dancers in this group, so no reason to give them a position. Yuqi is the 3rd best dancer here, but she lacks the skills the dance line has, so it wouldnât make a lot of sense for her to have the same position as Moonbyul.
Other Positions
Leader: Moonbyul is the oldest out of everyone by about 4 years. She also debuted first, is the most mature, and since most people here are introverts, she would most likely be leading the interviews.
Visuals: Joy and Mina fit about the same in terms of the KBS and they also compliment each otherâs visuals well.
Center: This group would be considered a slightly weak stage presence group, but Moonbyul is good at capturing the audiences attention while performing and she would probably have the most center parts in this group.
Face of the Group: Yuqi is one of the most popular in her own group and she would be a good representative for this group (Iâm assuming they would be versatile with more darker and girl crush concepts) and she is good at switching between concepts.
Maknae: Yuqi is the youngest in this line up by about 5 Months.
