Project Statement - Movement
I began my studies with physical movement with any speed ,cannot be captured fully by our eyes. This then led me to my subject matter of trains which is easily accessible to me as they have become a major part of my life since moving out. I have terrible eyesight naturally , so this theme of blur really resonated with me.
Between my three electives , I’ve studied motion blur with photography , an area I knew very little about . This then became reference photos for my painting elective , where I learned new techniques to achieve blur in my paintings by studying artists like Gerhard Richter. In the area of my printing elective , I explored lino printing and screen printing. Developing patterns and learning new skills in such allowed me to create prints of several designs .
