Movement
Comforting and Calming
Thinking about movement and what things and topics on movement interest me the most.
Making this mind map made me notice that I kept writing down things that I find calming and comforting about movement.
I can see myself enjoying the topics of calmness and comfort during this busy second semester. I will be moving between two campuses and doing double the work for my electives and also my BE-D courses.
Here is how I am planning on approaching these topics :
Movement of my body and the environment around me that calms and comforts me.
What does it feel like? (soft, fresh, safe)
What does it sound like? (calm breathing, touching fabrics, skin on skin)
What does it look like? (repeating movement, patterns, circles, soft folds)
Why does it have the affect?
During this project I will be heavily focusing on my own perspective in these topics and ways of movement which I personally find comforting. I will be looking at myself and my surroundings and researching deeper on why different movements are comforting and calming.
For this topic I have been looking at movement such as :
Fidgeting (hands, feet)
Self soothing movement (eg. caressing, embracing)
Breathing experience
movement around me (eg. wind, bedsheets, soft fabrics)
My disciplines:
Photography
Ceramics
Secondary research on hand movements
