The one thing I hate about Spamano fics. I used to read these things all the time, it didn't matter the quality. But the romanticization of a partner with anger issues/ abusive tendencies. It's always played off as Romano just being Romano, loud and angry. But in fics where he slaps Spain or belittles him constantly with nicknames like calling g him stupid. It just isn't okay.
Its seen as okay in the fic because "Well it was just a misunderstanding" or Romano is smaller than Spain so it couldnt possibly he abusive. News flash, big dudes can be abused. I know of a story of a very large man who had a tiny Asian wife who hit him with wire clothing g hangers because if he fought back he'd go to jail.
So I believe these authors are doing this on purpose? No. But there are better ways to write characters with anger issues rather than borderline abusive
