Ever since the last few school shootings dropped, Iโve seen more and more people talk about how the shooters are โunoriginalโ. Well, no shit, if we think about it, everybody is unoriginal.
Most school shooters, or even just mass killers in general, have been influenced by former massacres. Just name me a single school shooter who hasnโt actively admired the Columbine shooters, Adam Lanza, Pekka, etcโฆ if not any of them, then fucking Adolf Hitler. Any of the racially motivated violence had most likely been influenced by Brenton Tarrant or any of the other white supremacy activists. Donโt even get me started on the incels. We canโt even judge any of those โunoriginalโ killers, because we know damn well that the next school shooter will have been a member of the tcc. Most likely one of the columgooners too.
Even if the shooters donโt actively look up to previous perpetrators, they all have the same goal. Revenge. โNatural selectionโ, โIโm gonna end what they startedโ, โIโll be rememberedโโฆ itโs all the same thing just happening at a different time in a different place with slightly different individuals. Is that original? Of course not.
I can confidently say that we will most likely never have an original shooter again.
