even though they were divorced, he really cared about rose. in some ways he still felt very connected to her. all he really wanted was for his ex wife to be happy. kacey hated seeing her this way. “do you need my opinions on anything?” a smile spread across his lips, as she fixed his hair. after a run he could use a little fix. his hair was always a mess. “alright, i’ll work on my bod just a bit more.” he laughed. kacey was so grateful about the situation they were in. they were able to maintain a stable and loving environment for their son. which at the end of the day was most important. rose was equally to him important to him. at the end of the day they were family. kacey always believed in the saying family first. he’d do anything for his ex and two sons. even if it means listening to rose cry about the divorce.

katie: stephen king is an awful writer. all of his plots for women are rape, or weirdly over sexual, especially for his YOUNG female chars.

katie: um.. but i'm glad you're relaxed, i mean.

kacey: got any suggestions on good books?

kacey: to be honest, i've never really read a king book. someone suggested i started cause they were raving about him as an author. but now that i know that, i might have to take a step back and find something new to pick up.

kacey: that was sarcasm. who can be relaxed listening to creepy stuff?

minji: i feel i'd get too into it and crash.

minji: but that does sound relaxing. might actually steal the idea when i need a relaxing drive. i think my music selection is getting a bit old and stale.

kacey: as long as you pay attention to the road you'll be fine. maybe don't pick out a stephen king book, so you don't crash.

kacey: it is relaxing. it's exactly why i started doing it or podcasts. i don't know if you've listened to those before.

kacey: no it's a whole bunch of actors, i believe. if morgan freeman was reading to me i'd be one happy man.

Sara: As great as that sounds, and it is. Long drives are oddly relaxing....

Sara: A beach, sitting up a fire and actually holding the book in hand. Drinking coffee and a book.

Sara: Maybe I find too much relaxing when it comes to reading.

kacey: i'd probably swap out the coffee and drink a glass of wine. good books and wine are a very relaxing combination.

kacey: you're idea for sure is better than my own. i wish i was doing that now.

kacey: is it wrong to do that though?

alfie: i mean i have to agree with the driving part, but i'd swap out the stephen king for some smooth acoustic jams.

kacey: can't say i'd listen to some smooth acoustic jams. but i won't lie it sounds very relaxing.

kacey: i'd be worried i'd fall asleep behind the wheel.

kacey: me too of course. but on long car rides when i'd like to be spending time reading i put the time to listen to books.

kacey: i don't think i've ever read a stephen king book where i didn't think they were a 10 out of 10 creepy.

kacey: it was sarcasm. he's not relaxing at all. as a grown ass man. i'm scared.

he laughed at ash’s childlike behavior. “you aren’t. i’d say you’re more like a big baby.” kacey joked. he got up from the booth as ash pulled him up. they were so close they were practically touching. the blonde closed the gap between them, his lips nearly pressing to the others, before pulling away. “i’m pretty sure you like me in your bubble.”

kacey wasn’t sure if he believed he was just fine. but he wasn’t going to interrogate him. so he let the answer be. taking a page from his own personal book on how to avoid emotions he suggested, “maybe you should take a personal day. just do something else that’ll take your mind off your emotions.” he shrugged. “oh that’s the worst.” kacey shook his head. “what helps me through sleepless nights is taking melatonin. it really helps me.”

mickey hadn’t slept in a few days. back in the day it had been pretty normal for him, but the older he got the harder it was to not go slightly crazy. “sorry, what were you saying?” he asked, glancing over to the person walking wth him. “i like totally blanked out, i didn’t catch any of that.” he sighed, rubbbing at his face.

kacey was sharing a funny story about nate. although his child was more like the devil, he had his moments where he was the cutest and funniest person he’d ever seen. “i was telling you about nate.” a worried expression crossed his face. the story of his two year old was less important. fatherly instincts kicked in and he cared more about the males wellbeing. “don’t worry about it though.” kacey spoke. “are you alright?”

kacey liked the idea of a swear jar. They both could benefit from having this. The less they cursed the better. He followed behind his family, as they walked back to the cart. for the both of them it was for the best Nate was strapped into the seat. “I’m sorry. What to talk about it?” his hand ruffled through Nate’s hair. his attention went back on rose. He smiled small, and then nodded. “good, just running.” it sounded a lot less exciting when he said it.

he knew that kyle wasn’t making him feel guilty on purpose. the situation itself always made kacey feel a certain way. while everyone doesn’t blame the cop for being sick, except that was the worst lie he’d ever told. that one day kacey wasn’t sick. he was trying to do something romantic for kyle. “i really didn’t want to upset you.” he replied as his fingers raked his hair. “i knew being here was going to be a problem.” this was not one more stress he needed nor did he think for his ex. the truth of the matter was kacey knew nothing about his fate. he wanted to say this transfer was for about as long as his time off. but he didn’t know. “at the moment i don’t know.” the answer was the same for both things kyle wanted to know.

his face fell as ash took the fun out of everything. kacey rolled his eyes nudging his friend one more time. “oh sush.” A smirked curved on his lips and he couldn’t contain a laugh. “really you got to play me like that. be a gentleman and take my hand.”
