Planes 2: Fire and Rescue for Nintendo 3DS review!
This review is based on my experience, don't expect to see technical information or similar. This is just my opinion.
Planes 2: Fire and Rescue for Nintendo 3DS is a video-game based on the movie of the same name. Here, you play as various characters and do missions such as firefighting or rescuing tourists.
Price: since it's not from a big saga like Super Mario and it was released some years ago (I guess at the same year of the film's releasing), it's pretty cheap.
Gameplay: the two main things the game has are the missions and the gallery.
The missions are numerous and you can play as Dusty, Dipper, Windlifter, Blade, Blackout, Drip, Avalanche and Pinecone depending on the mission. However, Cabbie isn't playable: you just mark where he has to drop the smokejumpers, but you can't control him like the others.
There are A LOT of missions. Some are longer, and others, shorter. You can see how long a mission is and how much time you have been doing it. Depending on it, you win a gold, silver of bronze prize.
The mechanics are simple. You learn them by doing missions where they teach you these, but you don't have to memorize them because the game tells you which button you have to click, for example, when loading up. You usually don't have any problems with them, but with one: when using Blade's or Windlifter's hoist. You must be in a concrete position in orden to use it. Sometimes you last longer in a mission because you can't find it. And that's stressful when the time is crucial. Also, sometimes the character you're playing stops, and it's not because you finished the mission.
The second one (the gallery) is a collection of frames of the movie: Mayday, Windlifter, Blade... You collect them by completing missions. They're not in a very good quality, but it's a detail.
And yes, this game, for some reason I don't know, doesn't have a story mode. Maybe they thought it was senseless since it's based on a film, but "Cars 2: the videogame" has a story mode. I think it would've been really cool :(
Music: there's music in all the gameplay. It's just the soundtrack of the movie, so I think it's good. Not a original soundtrack, but I guess it was too much.
Also, there are voicelines. When a character talks or does something, he/she can say a line of the movie. For me, it's super cool!
Graphics: it's in good quality since it's a 3DS game and not a DS (referring to images and sounds), excepting the gallery photos.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ - it's a good game, it's entertaining and fun. Not the best, but you can have a good time without spending much money. The fact that I love the movie makes it better. I recommend it if you're a Planes fan.
